We appreciate your feedback related to your experience with the nursing program. After a review of your records, the dismissal following a late arrival to the clinical site was handled in accordance with College policy. The Bryant & Stratton College policy for clinical sites defines tardiness as arriving no more than seven minutes after the designated start time for any scheduled clinical experience. Any tardiness beyond that time frame is considered an unexcused absence which results in automatic failure. This is the official policy as it is laid out in the nursing handbook which all nursing students sign upon enrollment into the program. The College heard the student’s appeal but in adherence to the policy noted above, the appeal was denied. Maintaining a rigorous standard in curriculum and through our clinical relationships ensures the College is delivering a degree program that not only meets the standards of the **** ***** ** ******* and other accrediting bodies, but also provides our students with an education that prepares them for career success. The balance that remains will prevent your transcripts from being released at this time. However, our team is available to provide guidance on arranging payment so your transcripts may be released. Thank you for reaching out.

I am attending Bryant&Stratton College, and I will graduate in the fall of 2022. Firstly, I was lied to from the start about the price. I was under the impression; this school would only cost 10,000. Therefore, I was told I would need to take out a $5,000 student loan because I had a $5,000 Federal Grant.(she failed to tell me I needed to do this every single semester). Secondly, I was told I would have an Associates Degree in Medical Billing and Reimbursement but, I will graduate with just a measly Diploma. I now have 26,000 in student loans that I must pay back plus I have 15,432 from another tech school that I can’t pay back because I am disabled and can not work ???????. Also, I keep getting bills stating, I owe them money I will not pay this school a penny they have got so much money from the government for me! I have not seen any of my student financial aid money after my first semester where’s my money going to? I received $900, $500,$160,$60 that’s it and now bills! I have my account set up saying it’s being deposited to the school and I should get the rest right , wrong , I get a bill! And don’t get me started on the teaching because this school you have to teach yourself ;you have to look up everything with outside sources!! Thank God for *******, because Medical Billing is not easy trying to learn on your own!! This school was the worse mistake of my life! I will try my very best to try and get my loans forgiven! This school is ripping people off, scamming the government, and putting their students in debt! Medical billing is already hard enough, and starting out in debt because your college scammed you definitely makes you feel some type of way! Beware before you enroll at this school! Also, they say that your courses are transferable; that was a lie as well because I tried to transfer to another school and half of my credits that I took could not be transferred to another school therefore, I am stuck here until I finish with my almost $30,000 diploma

Thank you for providing this feedback. We take these complaints very seriously and we are sorry to hear that you feel that you were misled upon your enrollment. We received two applications from you, both indicated your desire to enroll for the Medical Billing and Coding Diploma. Our student services team has previously communicated to you the option of using the credits earned in the Medical Billing and Coding diploma towards a Medical Reimbursement and Coding degree at Bryant & Stratton College. You have been enjoying a great deal of success in the classroom thus far and our team can provide further information on the associate degree if it is a path you still wish to pursue.

With regard to financial aid, our advisors work to provide students with the best possible financial aid package to cover their tuition with the smallest amount of loans or out of pocket expenses possible. Any amount of student aid that remains after all tuition and fees are paid will be returned to students in the form of a student aid refund. These refunds will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, course fees, bookstore costs and the amount of loans a student takes out. A student’s refund will vary in size depending how their financial aid package covers the factors listed above. In some cases, students may not receive a refund for a given semester due to those factors.

Our records do indicate that there was a small balance owed to the College, which is the bill you are referring to. However, that outstanding balance has since been taken care of and our records show that you do not currently owe a balance to the College. You should not receive any additional communication from the College related to that fee.

We hope your final semester is a success and we are excited for you to complete the diploma this fall.

I was enrolled with Bryant & Stratton College online for the Spring 2022 semester. Due to their egregious cost, I decided to transfer to a local technical college. When my BSC counselor reached out, I made it clear I would not be registering for classes for the Fall 2022 semester and that I would be transferring out. Not only were most of my credits not transferable, but my student aid at my new school had been cancelled because BSC failed to cancel the 2022-23 Federal Aid, making it look like I had received aid from two different schools for the same school year. I reached out to the BSC financial aid office, and their rep Jessica S****** claims that the May 2022 semester was included in the 2022-23 school year. This is erroneous, as the FAFSA website itself describes the 2022-23 school year as starting July 1 2022 through June 20 2023. I have now reached out to the management of their Financial Aid department and am awaiting their response. This is holding up much needed funds to continue my education and assist with my daily living costs while I'm in school. They are refusing to return the FEDERAL Pell Grant amount of $3448 received for the 2022-23 school year in my name, which should be going to my new school, *** ****** ********* ******** If they continue to refuse I will be seeking legal counsel.

We appreciate you sharing your experience and the challenges you are facing with regard to your transfer. Providing students with a fulfilling, personalized experience is central to Bryant & Stratton College’s mission of preparing graduates for their career and life pursuits through our career-focused degree programs. That personalized experience includes the financial aid process, in which our advisors work with students to determine the best way to pay for their education. As the May 2022 semester ran from May 4 until August 15, students were eligible to use aid from either the 2021-22 or 2022-23 aid years. Any time a student is enrolled in a term that is eligible for two aid years, the College utilizes the aid year which provides the student with the best possible financial aid award. This ensures our students the most beneficial aid package which limits the need for tuition to be covered by other forms of aid or even out of pocket payment. Thanks to the student’s clear request to transfer, no further aid for the 2022-23 aid year was utilized beyond what was required for the May term and all future aid was canceled, leaving it available for use at another institution as the student seeks to continue their education.

First when I enrolled they lied to me about the course work. Also how it was structured. Then I have been degraded by staff, acting as if I don't know how to talk to people. They made me buy a book that I don't even need. They wasted money. Then when I try to reach out to the " Dean of Students" I am blocked by some unqualified person who claims the are with student services but yet they take a cut of financial aid. If the" Dean" was actually there it shouldn't be a problem talking to me again if it wasn't for people like me she wouldn't have a job.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We are sorry to hear that you felt misinformed as to the structure of our online programs. We take these complaints very seriously and have done some research into your file and claims.  Our records indicate a broad history of contact with you from enrollment through your withdrawal in June 2022. In each instance the academic advisors reported having positive interactions with you as they offered guidance on navigating online classes and additional advice for finding success in the classroom. In addition, our records show that you received regular support from academic advisors including an introduction to the required process for posting in class with additional assistance to ensure continued success with required class discussion and participation online. The Dean of Student Services regularly interacts with students, particularly those who feel that they need additional assistance. In this instance, you had spoken with an advisor regarding a state exam for paralegals before asking to speak with the dean. The advisor asked for more information around the nature of your question so they could pass the information along to the Dean but was told you would be finding another way to contact the Dean. Every student’s financial aid is sent directly to pay for their charges/books and any fees. This is funded by the Federal Government and at no point does any staff member, at any level have access to these funds. Our records indicate that all federal aid paid to your account and a payment of excess funds was issued to you in June. A copy of your student account statement is available upon request. In addition, according to your file, only one book was purchased through the bookstore that was required for the Paralegal class you were enrolled in.We would welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and the Dean will attempt to reach you through the most current contact information we have in our database. If unsuccessful, we encourage you to contact our online division and reference this communication to be directed to the Dean.

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The Dean of students reached out but did not tell me how she was going to conduct the meeting. I reached back out to her told her I would love to speak to her and she did not text me or call me she went on the website and I do not go on there regularly so I missed the appointment and she had stated that she was only there to meet with me and financial aid. When I wrote her back and said I was interested in speaking to her and not to financial aid she has not reached back out. Since I did not learn anything that I did not already know in school I am looking for my money to be reimbursed Regards, ***** ****

In 2014 I attendant Bryant and Stratton for a little less than two weeks. I wanted to withdraw from my classes because I was offered a job in the career field I wanted to work in. I reached out to my counselor at the time and let them know I wanted to withdraw from my classes. Fast forward almost 8 years later and I'm trying to do online schooling to advance my career and I find out Bryant and Stratton is withholding my transcript due to some insane balance of over 5k when I attended the school for maybe two weeks or less. They're saying I withdrew over a month when I spoke directly to someone about withdrawing. It's criminal the way they are preventing me from succeeding in the future because they are holding my transcript hostage for classes I didn't complete or even attend for more then a very short period of time. I tried speaking to multiple people and no one could help because of their records. I find it insane and unfair to punish a person trying to SUCCEED in life. I wish I never even tried to go to this school.

      06/06/2022

Thank you for raising this concern, we’re sorry to hear that you’re having trouble continuing your education. Our records indicate that you withdrew from courses on 2/11/2014, which fell in the fourth week of classes for the 2014 winter term. Per College policy, students who withdraw during the fourth week of classes are eligible for a 25% refund. That 25% refund was issued at the time of withdrawal, but you remain responsible for the balance of your tuition. It is College policy to withhold any transcripts of students who owe a balance to the school. Based on when you withdrew from classes, you did not complete a full semester at Bryant & Stratton College. Meaning you did not accumulate any credits for the courses you began in January of 2014. While your balance would preclude you from obtaining transcripts, your transcripts would not reflect any credits that could potentially be eligible for transfer to another school. So, your balance with Bryant & Stratton College should not prevent you from enrolling at another college. Our business office is available to provide additional information on your balance and to provide guidance on payment.

I attended Bryant and Stratton in 2007-2008 I withdrew from them when I was told their classes credits do not transfer and no continuing programs take them. They are saying I owe them $526 for charges OUTSIDE of the financial aide and loans that I acquired while enrolled there. Now I am enrolled in college in MS and after being enrolled for two years they have now said without my transcript from Bryant and Stratton from 07-08 I will not be allowed to schedule classes or potentially graduate. This is wrong the lady in the Business Office at Bryant and Stratton said herself the amount was written off and that the statue of limitations has lapsed. But yet now them not giving me the transcript I PAID for is affecting me finishing school.

Thank you for voicing your concerns. It is our policy, as well as common practice in the education industry, to not release official transcripts to students whom owe the college a balance. We are glad that we have since worked together to provide the transcripts that you require. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
