1 starThey are Withholding my 401K 3 months after leaving the company. I have made many attempts to collect and every phone call I make, I am lied too. This is the worst customer service I have ever had. Then they just sent me a letter saying I can get it but now it is $200 less than it was when I left. DO NOT WORK AT ANY COMPANY THAT USES THEM. I am sure it is illegal to keep money that is mine. Stay tuned.... Still fightingReview fromJennifer H

1 starPaychex and Paychex Insurance company are the worst! We had one employee who worked for us for 3 1/2 weeks. We were on a pay as you go - based on hours worked. Now the company wants to charge us almost $1,700.00 post audit, even though they knew we had one employee for 3 1/2 weeks. The auditor, first initial, N - was the worst to deal with; rude and surly. When I contacted my rep, first initial S at Paychex Inc. I was told that he doesn't deal Paychex Insurance. We canceled our relationship with Paychex in December 2024 only to be charged for services through March. We had to file stop payments on the charges with our bank. We are still fighting the workman's comp charges. The whole experience has been abysmal. Paychex is not good for small businesses.Review fromJustin S

1 starWORST WORST WORST customer service EVER! I don't normally leave reviews, but I have spent 5 hours, 9 attempts with different agents to change my phone number and every single one of them was useless and they just disconnect and leave you there. Why is it that my bank can change my number over the phone with three pieces of information. If you verified the account with me after answering your STUPID questions, you should be able to say. Thank you for verifying your account, what would you like to update your number to, then send me a code so I can verify that the number is correct. WHY IS IT SO F'IN HARD!?!? and all I get afterwards is sorry but you will need to contact your employer. Well guess what my employer doesn't know how to help me that was why I was reaching out! Honestly the stress and aggravation so high right now I have never been close to suing a company until now. Do not use this company for your employees, don't put them through the stress if something changes in their life, it is not worth it.Review fromBob L

1 starHorrible Experience. We ran a payroll that was to be dated 2/14/25. It was called in to them 2/10/25. On 2/10/25 we discovered they dated it 2/21/25. We emailed them and asked them to void the 21st payroll and run one with the correct the date. They said they did and reran the payroll with the correct date. It was wrong because they changed the pay rate and benefit withholdings for 4 employees on the rerun payroll. They then had to rerun the payroll again for 4 employees who were wrong. They messed it up again twice and voided one payroll correctly but the other one for appx $3,500 they said they voided but did not. They both deducted it from our bank account and put it in the employees account. We asked them to refund our money and take the money that was erroneously paid to our employees back. on 2/27/25 they finally sent us ACH debit forms which they said had to be filled out so that they could get the funds back from the employees. Never offered to send us our money which they mistakenly took from our bank account. When we did send the forms in they held them too long and they expired. So, now we have to fill out new ACH debit forms. It takes a while to get it done because not all employees work at our location. Then, on February 21st we discovered that they withdrew $45,498 from our bank account for the payroll they said they had voided originally. they did this even though we alerted them the day we called in the payroll (2/10/25) that it was wrong and they indicated they had voided it. We filled out ACH debit authorizations on this and again they were mis-handled and now we must get new ones filled out. As a result they have had about $49,000 of our money for over a month, with no offer to repay us even though they screwed this up. The latest reply I got from them when I asked for the money was that they couldn't pay back funds they don't possess. Last I looked they had 1.5 billion in cash Worst vendor performance I ever encountered.Review fromJohn H

1 starAs the HR director, I switched my company to Paychex in October 2023. The sales guys always make it sound like such a great idea and an easy process. Not so. The CSR did not show up for the call to do my first payroll with me. I had to scramble and call around for over 2 hours to get someone to help me. The original CSR never apologized or explained. Implementation was not smooth and there were many mistakes. I often had to practically beg for assistance and even got my original sales guy involved to solve some major issues. Customer service was terrible, billing for different services was piecemeal, the reports that come out of their system are poorly designed and difficult to transfer into excel. I decided to cancel their services after 1 year. The cancellation process was worse than implementation. I notified my CSR and sales guy 3 months in advance that I planned to cancel. I had to keep following up with them to make sure I got the necessary forms and followed the right process. They still failed to send the the cancellation form until mid January after I had already stopped using their services. It is March and they are still billing me, even though I have been assured by multiple people in multiple calls and emails that my account is cancelled and the billing will stop. Overall, choosing Paychex as my payroll provider was a terrible decision that caused nothing but problems for me and my company.Review fromSHANE D

1 starI would not recommend Paychex for benefits for smaller businesses. I need to publicly state this, as the amount of time we're spending to ensure that I actually get access to health benefits that my employer and I are paying for is excessive and should not be necessary. I don't find it reasonable that I supposedly am covered as of Feb 1st but have no communications, no account numbers, nothing from insurance providers that I can actually use with a dentist or doctor. Today Feb 19th they tell me dental exists, healthcare does not b/c I moved out of CA, even though I enrolled with my AZ address in Jan specifically because I knew we were moving in Feb. Their support is poor; the resolution their support team proposed AFTER my HR team, called in to chase the ticket does not exist s we are having to call back.Review fromRosa E

1 starI have never had to come and file a complaint however my experience with Paychex has been a NIGHTMARE. I had a problem with our account and getting in touch with my account manager was IMPOSSIBLE. I reached out multiple attempts I finally called the customer service line and no one could seem to give me an answer on what was happening with my account although CT department of Labor kept contacting me about a mixup that happened I got everything cleared away with them and needed Paychex to move forward with some changes. Not only was this stressful enough but now I had to reach out to a number of people in customer service lines back and forth since 1/14. (Meanwhile I expressed to many representatives that this was urgent due to my employees unable to collect their unemployment) I finally got a call from Latasha who was the only one who seemed to want to help me. Fast forward I am being told that since 2022 paychex has been returning our taxes at the end of the year back to our account and that this is an automated way they do things NOT EVEN NOTIFYING US THAT THERE IS ANY ISSUE HAPPENING. ISN'T IT WHAT I PAY THE SERVICE FOR TO RAISE ANY FLAGS ESPECIALLY ONE AS BIG AS THIS ONE? now i’m being told I owe a lump-some of $ since 2022 because of the lack of communication on their end? This has been beyond stressful and cost me so much time and energy. I lost all trust in this company.Review fromLaura B

1 starThis is the MOST unprofessional company, NOT JUST PAYROLL...WORST company I have ever dealt with. We used this company for their services for many years. We left them because the "manager" decided to go over my head and talk directly to our owner with mis-information. Bad idea. He fired them. Once we were terminated, it was impossible to get our employees W2's sent out. I spent many hours on the phone and have documented emails showing their lack of professionalism and assistance.
