Terribly rude for no reason. Ask a simple question and it’s like you slapped their mother, no matter who you speak with. Unpleasant and u happy as if phone calls are a burden.

Paychex is maybe the biggest scam on Earth. I own three small businesses (30+ employees total), just moved every one of them to Gusto which isn't necessarily the best solution out there, but they have good customer support and aren't, like, criminally negligent. Paychex botched my payroll taxes for every single organization for over a year. They ran up insane penalties and fees with state agencies they wouldn't reimburse us for. Mind you, they collect the taxes when we run payroll. So not only do they take the money up font and sit it in their account, then they keep it in their account, fail to make the correct payments, then send an invoice for fees and penalties. When you call them to see what's going on, you run the robot call tree and then get forwarded to different divisions until you're told "we'll email you" (they won't). Run, don't walk, from Paychex. Everyone in that organization is forwarding emails in a circle and getting no actual work done. Their 401k and every other awful service they try to upsell you are all massively overpriced too with terrible quality, don't fall for it. This Company does literally nothing well.

If you leave Paychex and they "accidentally" file your Year End reports including W2's, 940's, 941's. They do not take ownership to correct the situation. If you leave them and go to another company they will not help at all. They have put my business in a very difficult situation - and charged me even though they had documentation that said they were not authorized to file any thing on my behalf.

Pay Chex is the worst! I was taking a small lump some out of my 401k and still haven’t received the money! I’ve spoken with six different who told me they would send a check, and when I call to follow up I was told a check wasn’t sent. It’s so frustrating! I don’t know who else to contact this doesn’t seem legal it’s been over a month! They all talk in circles to confuse you and I’m not allowed to speak to a manager.

If I could leave a negative star review I would. On the week of 05/12/2025 Shamaria J****** ran our payroll. She inputted an employee's hours as OVER 496 hours instead of 49.67 hours. This has caused a whole bunch of issues including them FREEZING OUR ACCOUNT leaving us UNABLE to submit our payroll for this week. They still expect us to pay the taxes on the WRONG PAYROLL that was originally done by Shamaria J******. A lovely girl helped us on 05/13/25 to rectify and fix it. But now over the Memorial Day weekend we got a call from an Annmarie N**** to call her back regarding this issue. I have been trying to call her since YESTERDAY 05/27/25 to get this fixed and supposedly yesterday she was in a meeting all day. Now I've been trying to call her since I got into the office and she is supposedly on the worlds longest phone call as it keeps going to her voicemail saying she's currently on the phone. This is ridiculous. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE COMAPNY WHO COULD CARE LESS ABOUT SCREWING OVER A SMALL BUISNESS AND IT'S EMPLOYEES! They do not care and are useless.

This is the worst payroll company I have ever worked for. Their system is not intuitive, if you make a mistake, like we did, you will end up paying fees even if you caught your mistake on time and called Paychex to correct your mistake, they will tell you that your problem is fixed but no, they will collect the money from you incorrect payroll, deposit those funds to your employees or 1099s, then they will attempt to retrieve those funds from them and deposit the funds back to you. They ended up putting our account on hold, we had all of our 1099s asking why they didn't get paid and so on. A simple mistake that was done and detected one week before it happened, caused us weeks of calls and apologies to our 1099s for weeks. Their system is designed to charge you for every excuse you can think of. Their profit is probably coming from the fraudulent way they operate. I would give this company zero stars if I could. Chosing Paychex as our payroll processor has been one of the worst mistakes we have done in our small business.

Paychex is by far, the WORST company I have ever used for Payroll and 401k services. Their level of customer service can be beat by any other company. They have dozens of departments, and it usually takes 45-60 minutes just to talk to someone, and then they will transfer you 2 more times just to get to where you need to be. When faced with the option to use this company, RUN to any other provider. This company does not care about you.

They are Withholding my 401K 3 months after leaving the company. I have made many attempts to collect and every phone call I make, I am lied too. This is the worst customer service I have ever had. Then they just sent me a letter saying I can get it but now it is $200 less than it was when I left. DO NOT WORK AT ANY COMPANY THAT USES THEM. I am sure it is illegal to keep money that is mine. Stay tuned.... Still fighting

Paychex and Paychex Insurance company are the worst! We had one employee who worked for us for 3 1/2 weeks. We were on a pay as you go - based on hours worked. Now the company wants to charge us almost $1,700.00 post audit, even though they knew we had one employee for 3 1/2 weeks. The auditor, first initial, N - was the worst to deal with; rude and surly. When I contacted my rep, first initial S at Paychex Inc. I was told that he doesn't deal Paychex Insurance. We canceled our relationship with Paychex in December 2024 only to be charged for services through March. We had to file stop payments on the charges with our bank. We are still fighting the workman's comp charges. The whole experience has been abysmal. Paychex is not good for small businesses.

WORST WORST WORST customer service EVER! I don't normally leave reviews, but I have spent 5 hours, 9 attempts with different agents to change my phone number and every single one of them was useless and they just disconnect and leave you there. Why is it that my bank can change my number over the phone with three pieces of information. If you verified the account with me after answering your STUPID questions, you should be able to say. Thank you for verifying your account, what would you like to update your number to, then send me a code so I can verify that the number is correct. WHY IS IT SO F'IN HARD!?!? and all I get afterwards is sorry but you will need to contact your employer. Well guess what my employer doesn't know how to help me that was why I was reaching out! Honestly the stress and aggravation so high right now I have never been close to suing a company until now. Do not use this company for your employees, don't put them through the stress if something changes in their life, it is not worth it.
