I went Progressive, Webster office, in March 2022 for a consultation because they were listed on dental plan network. They gave a price to remove two teeth and to plane one tooth for about $525. I didn't call and schedule the appointment until August I believe. It scheduled for October 19th. I went on that day, work done. At check in they said no co-pay, you're all set. A couple of week later I received a bill showing a balance of $206. Checked my insurance they paid $700plus. I called Progressive and I learned that in May 2022 they were no longer on my plans network. They billed my insurance $900, my insurance paid them as out of network $700 leaving a balance of $206 which was the bill that I received. I'm very upset about this because no one told me that Progressive dropped off my network in May 2022. I was not informed when I called to schedule in August, not when they called to confirm, not when I checked in, ever. I would not continued with them had I known this. They were my second consultation and when I found out that first Peridontist that was referred by my dentist was not in my network, I chose another, Progressive. They had ample opportunities to tell me that they dropped out of the work and failed to fo so. I would have chosen someone else. The only relationship we had was a consultation. I feel like this was a bait and switch situation as there was ample opportunities to tell me. I only use my network practitioners and I'm very upset to have a $200 bill. I am retired on a fixed income, I dont need a $200 dental bill that did not have to be had I been informed. They received more than the original quote given to me from my insurance and due to their lack of transparency they should cancel this balance. They should also make sure to inform clients when they drop out of networks. If they told me on the day I showed up for the appointed I would have left and found another dentist. I've spoken to the office and they only offer spliting up the payment!

    Business Response

    Date: 01/19/2023

Progressive made contact and there were adjustments made on our account to remove any balance owed. This was an error within our Billing Department, as we made special arrangements to honor prior estimates.  We also communicated via email with any patients who had prior appointments scheduled before we terminated our contracts with their insurance carrier. Thank you, Alex S******* Manager Progressive Implantology & Periodontics **************************** *************
