Shady, deceptive scammer. Received a letter that looked like an official bill for $121.50 to provide a copy of a deed. I already have the deed or certainly could have obtained it locally as a free public record. The letter offers a phony "service," but it is clearly designed to look like a bill from a government agency or other official entity. It's calculated to deceive, and I would imagine the elderly are particularly vulnerable to this scam. Should be illegal to prey on consumers in this way.Review from Victoria S

you dont have a rating low enough for this company doesnt return phone calls (business closed on a monday???) nor do they answer emails they also have wrong info on the owner of home I think they should close the doors and not open again this is a rip off place BE CAREFUL DONT USE THEMReview from Steve B

How are “businesses” like this even allowed to operate legally? Their letter has a stamp that says $2000 dollar fine if you stop this scam letter from getting delivered. NYS should really go after scams like this instead of focusing on speeding cameras.Review from Beth J

If I could give 0 stars I would! This company mailed my son (a first time home buyer) a letter making him think that it was a part of his closing and that it needed to be paid. We mailed the check and then a week later spoke with our attorney who stated this was a scam. Payment has been stopped on the check!Review from Eve A

This business is an absolute scam. They sent me a letter offering to provide a copy of the deed to my home for a $109.50 “processing fee” and gave me a date to respond to the letter by. The letters attempts to make it look like it is a communication from a government agency, although it does say on the letter that they are not a government agency. Deeds and other land records in my area are free online. Why would I pay this company $109.50 for something that is free? Maybe they are hoping that I don’t know that I can get a copy of my deed for free or that I just read the part of the letter that says Property Records NY and assume that this is a NY agency. The “service” that they purport to offer is already free in NYC, so I do not understand why I should give them my money.

Property Records NY is a legally recognized business. We offer a service that allows customers to receive a copy of their Deed or other Record of Title. We state unequivocally that we are not a government agency and are not affiliated with any government agency. We are a real company entity known as Property Records NY, which informs the consumer that we deal with records, specifically Deeds or other Title Records. There is nothing dishonest, misleading, or deceptive about how we conduct business. We inform the consumer that our letter is a solicitation, not a bill. The consumer is informed that they are not required to pay for our service unless they accept our offer and desire it. The consumer did not accept our offer or service.Review from LK M

Received a letter from this company and a couple others claiming that they could send a copy. Receiving numerous ones signals to me that this is an unnecessary service.Property Records of New York Response

Scam. Closed on a house and this "company" is trying to trick unsuspecting new homeowners into parting with their money. You can get any of this information from your local county office for a few dollars. Don't fall for scams like this.Property Records of New York Response

We make it clear that we are not a government agency or are associated with any governmental agency. There is nothing false, misleading, or deceptive within which we operate our business. We make it clear to the consumer that our letter is a solicitation and not a bill. The consumer is advised that they are under no obligation to pay for our service unless they accept our offer and request our service. In this case, the consumer did not accept our offer.
