In April 2023 I received an estimate from Alpine roofing for a certain number of roofing panels and trim. after reviewing the estimate I made a few slight adjustments to the order and received an updated estimate which I reviewed. I made contact with Alpine to pay for the material. My credit card was charged and I received the Invoice. several days later Alpine contacted me and left a message stating that there was an error in how the total quantity was entered/calculated, and in order to have my complete order filled they would need to charge me an additional $1000+. As I reviewed my Invoice I confirmed that the quantity and lengths of roofing panel that I ordered were listed correctly, however there was indeed a mistake made as to the calculation for the total amount and thus the final price was incorrect. At the time of the estimate and invoicing I was asked to provide the number of panels and at what length I needed them. That is what I gave and that is what is shown on the invoice and estimates. I am not responsible for for whatever error that was made in the office in calculating the total, I was given a price for certain products and that is what I paid for and what I expected to receive. After speaking to Alpine about the issue they were not willing to fill the order as it was listed on the invoice and stated they would be issuing me a refund against my will. I do not want a refund, I want the material I ordered at the price I originally paid. I have made project and financial decision based on the cost for this material. Besides being flat out wrong, changing the price after the sale and/or reordering the material at a higher price is not an option for me.

      Business Response

It was explained to the customer that the total linear footage of his order was incorrectly calculated on the sheet and that he was actually only charged for a portion of his order as was evident on his invoice.  He was given the option to pay the difference or accept the portion of the order that was paid for.  He refused.  His money was refunded in full.

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The business has indicated that the total liner footage calculated was not correct and that is true, however, I was asked to provide the number of sheets required and their lengths, which is also clearly and accurately listed on the invoice. I was not asked to provide total liner footage nor asked to verify it. This liner footage calculation was made by the business and therefor it is their mistake not mine and their responsibility to bare financially. As a customer dealing with "professionals", I had no reason to believe that there was an error on the invoice at the time of sale, the items I requested were accurately listed and I proceeded based on that understanding.     Regards, ******* ********
