  If you could give negative stars I would give 10. There is no customer service. There are clueless nitwits and nasty condescending men. I have been a long term customer and have referred family members and friends over the years. The service has been in decline for awhile and this year it has reached peak rudeness and irresponsibility. Had a water leak in my oil tank. Called Meenan as per my service agreement and they did promptly send a service person. Unfortunately it was later in the day and the guy was in a hurry. He said it was a valve which he replaced and left. He did not test the integrity of the tank. How do I know this? Because when I woke early the next morning there was water and oil tainted residue all over my basement including on the all new walls that had just been installed. Called Meenan, they sent another service person who said we needed a new water heater and remarked that we should definitely file a claim with Meenan because if the first guy had done his job we would have avoided the flood. Meenan sent out a salesperson from whom we bought a new heater. He also said we should definitely file a claim with Meenan. Tried to and got a "supervisor" who was a real piece of work, nasty, rude and tried to say it was our fault and that the guy must have checked it and the leak developed during the night! After several more calls they sent an adjuster who wrote up the loss, then nothing! Still waiting. This has been going on for months. I've been told they'd pay the claim (over 100K damage), then excuses and promises a supervisor would call back. Still waiting with oily walls. Forget this company. Bad news.

  Do not sign up with this company. Our group of 5 families signed up with Meenan this year. Three families have all had the same problem with service or should I say lack of service and were only 3 months into our contract. They tell you they have 24/7 service but then if you call anytime from late afternoon on they try to get you to agree for service the next morning and if you say no they give you a 7 hour or longer window that they will come, My call last week I was told at 3 pm they could come as late as 10pm. Then a few hours later I get a call from the service dispatcher saying they have no idea when a tech will come and it can be anytime into the wee hours of the morning, when I started yelling and complaining he said other people have no heat or hot water and pay to have only a 2 to 3 hour window to get service, I really went crazy when he told me that as I was either being lied to or none offered our group this. He kept repeating himself to agitate me. It was very warm out that day about 75 degrees so I doubt anyone was using heat. Another lie he probably told me because my dads thermostat was not working to get heat or hot water and he said that wasnt important.I put in a complaint through this BBB and asked for a call back and have not received one, Im not surprised. I will keep giving bad reviews anywhere I can as this is not acceptable customer service nor would I expect 24/7 to mean they can come anytime within 24 hours, it should mean you can call for service 24/7:and get it within a reasonable time, They obviously dont hire enough help.

  We had a contract that said it would price oil at the market rate and wouldnt go over the ceiling rate. The past three months we have been charged the highest amount possible despite the market rate being a $1.50 cheaper. After calling Meenan they said we will give you 50 dollars off the first bill. The customer service was extremely rude and laughed at my husband and implied that he couldnt afford the bill ( which happened to be **** dollars)!!!! Their practices are deceptive and I am filing a complaint with the *** Attorney so no one else falls victim to this.

  I have been with Meenan for twenty years! Now they raised my service contract double over the previous year! (WOW) So I have no choice but to cancel them and hire a more reasonable company!

  My contract expired in Dec 2022, the supervisor called and offered me a ceiling price that was too high for my budget i didnt accepted because the price he offers was too high compare to other companies. I never renewed the contract neither give permission to allow for an automatic oil deliver.. then one year after sep 2023. Meenan deliverd oil to my tank without my permission and charged me a very high price over $5/ gallon. When I called to resolve this problem and asked why am I still on auto delivery without my permission. And why Im being over charged compare to other companies . The representative and supervisor were very rude and disrespectful insisting that I never canceled my service with them. I said sent me my signature or voice approval to continue the service he said we dont have it.. I said what if I have another contract with another company that will put me in trouble with them with a big fine.. I told him to come and take his oil back I dont want it., we ended up the call the supervisor saying see you in court.,

  Meenan advertises a "price ceiling" contract for home heating oil. In October 2022 when the commodity price of home heating oil was $4.50 a gallon, I locked in my ceiling at $4.99. Today commodity home heating oil is trading at ~$2.70 a gallon and they are still charging me $4.99. I was told "the price takes into account our costs to run the company" and that their "delivered price is still over $5 a gallon because of their superior service." I get that there is some cost on top of the commodity price of home heating oil that is added to the delivered price, but I received a quote from Meenan's competitor ******* today for a delivered price of $3.89/gallon. That's a $1.10/gallon and several hundred dollars per delivery difference. Their "price ceiling contracts" are false advertising and they are price gouging their customers.
