If anyone is considering changing vets or seeking services with someone new, DO NOT even consider bringing your beloved pet or your wallet to Weedsport Animal Hospital. I was quite satisfied with the care and compassion my pets and I received for at least seven to eight years. Since Dr. H bought this practice, a lot changed, and not for the better. First, you are expected to leave your credit card on file with them, so you are charged without discussion about fees. After learning this, I began to ask before agreeing to a procedure. For example, I asked the price of ONE x-ray (was told it would be $50), which I gave permission for. When I received the bill, Dr. H had done two x-rays, which I was charged for ($58 and $45). The last incident could not have been more disturbing. Before bringing my 4 lb 2 oz yorkie in to be put down, I confirmed the procedure and complete price more than once with the receptionist. All charges were outlined, which I documented in my own notes. In addition to being told they do not charge for Euthanasia/medication, the bill said otherwise. In addition to being charged for "Euthanasia", I was also charged for three times the amount of "euthanasia" solution (called Fatal Plus) necessary. Needless to say, the bill was considerably higher than stated and having to read that information on that day was horrifying. The receptionist available at that time told me the person who gave me the details was "new" and "that's the way we do things". Of course, I contacted the office and left a message. A vet tech called me back the following day. After an ongoing discussion, she eventually said she would either credit my account for the Euthanasia (not the solution) or send me a check. Having to lose your pet is bad enough. Having to deal with a matter like this was, and continues to be extremely traumatic. The compassion I was used to, and expected, no longer exists at this practice.
