    If you want to have a say in the medical care of your pets don’t go to Dr. L****. She is an egotistical doctor that believes it’s her way of no way. There is no room for discussion or compromise. Her staff even stated it is a law to get your dog tested for heartworm annually - completely false. It is YOUR choice as the owner to test annually or every other year if the dog stays on heartworm all year. Just like human health care, doctors are meant to offer recommendations and facts for YOU to make the final decision. Dr. L**** will not give you a choice. Then, because you disagree they will drop you like a hot potato, completely disregarding the fact that your pet is scheduled for surgery in 3 days, which has been scheduled for months. We will now have to find a new veterinarian AND wait months to get the surgery done now because of availability. While Dr. L**** has a widely known reputation for being difficult to work with, we were willing to give her a chance. She certainly lived up to her terrible reputation and I can’t wait to move on to a better animal hospital.

    While it is not a law, it is our own company's policy to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for all medications dispensed. In this instance, a heartworm test is recommended annually by the manufacturer, so that is the policy we adhere to. We stick to this policy because if your dog were to become positive for heartworm disease and you gave this medication, it could be fatal. This protects not only your dog but us as well. We did not 'drop you like a hot potato', you made it very clear you were unhappy with our policy and stated you would be taking your pets elsewhere for their veterinary services.

    First, I guess your staff needs some training on how to properly explain things since it was your staff that literally said "it's the law." Second, the key word you used is "recommended." Just as I stated previously, your job is to make recommendations. As pet owners, it is our job to make the decisions. YOU are not allowed to force us to make decisions we are not comfortable with. Third, you called and cancelled my dog's surgery. I did not call to cancel and when I stated I wanted to keep it, YOU refused. So yes, you did "drop me like a hot potato."
