I double-paid my last invoice for the winter season and they didn't inform me of the almost $900 credit balance on my account. I was having a very difficult time with the loss of my parents and didn't realize the mistake until over 2 months later. If they were sending monthly statements that showed a credit balance I would have been able to get my money back faster, but they don't provide that necessary service. And when I called, very upset about the lack of communication, they made me wait for a week before they processed the refund to my credit card. In this day and age, it should have been done that same day. Then I asked to them to put my account on hold so that I don't get an automatic delivery and they gave me a real hard time, actually stating that they don't do that, so I said please put my account on a vacation hold until December. Their business practices are ruthless.Needless to say, I will not be using them for home heating oil.

Petro is the worst ********************* out there.I have been trying for over a year to get my A/C min split fixed. It has a 10 year warranty and Petro can't follow manufacturers guidelines to have it repaired. They have sent over 6 technicians over 14 months and are speculating where the leak is. The manufacturer wants proof of the leak with pictures or video but Petro can't supply that information because they can't prove it. Over $1400. In troubleshooting and they want over $700 more with installing a condenser which would void my warranty and wouldn't be covered because PETRO can't prove it.******* recommends that I get another company due to Petros lack of A/C troubleshooting and rudeness with field managers and customer service managers. To be continued.......

I purchased an oil contract in September, when I signed up they told me when the price dropped .40 more a gallon Id getting the going price, I had a fill up this month oil is down $1 a gallon they told me theyre selling it for $4.89 a gallon when crude price on NYSERTA was $3.69. I was told being they have higher over head and give better service than just an oil delivery company. Unfortunately I was lied to about the price reduction when the price goes down. Just another corporation taking advantage of the small fry!

I've been a customer for a long time. Let me start by saying they never call back. It take days to get a supervisor to call back even when you need a response asap. I had them give me a price for a new oil tank, which was their suggestion. I did this in June of 2022. I received an email quote from them, but there was nothing else, just a price. This month, October, I realized that I am low on oil and I called to get a delivery. It is at this time customer service tells me that my account is on "HOLD" because of my faulty oil tank. Now at this point I had not received a phone call, a formal letter, an email or text letting me know my account was frozen or that they (Petro) deemed my oil tank faulty and undeliverable. Of course this creates other problems, specifically no heat and damage to my burner. I would say this is a bit of an emergency, but I call on a Monday, and today is Friday, and we are still unresolved. My husband and I checked the tank. There is no leak, no smell and no visible cracks. However customer service sent a tech to check the tank. The tech does the check and speaks to my husband and agrees that the tank is okay. He says however, that he gets a lot of pressure from his boss to say that a new tank is needed. My husband says to him - Do the right thing. Long story short I find out he has written a report stating we need a new tank!! I think this is criminal. They literally lie to you. You have to record everything. I would say to potential customers - be very careful when dealing with Petro.

After being a customer for over 30 years for fuel oil and a boiler contract my parents died and so the house was empty. Therefore I needed less fuel oil. The cost of the fuel oil went up to 75% more per gallon. When questioned they said its because I am not buying enough fuel to get the lower price. It made no sense I dont need the fuel the house was now empty. I called to ask what can be done about this and they were rude and continue to tell me they would call me back, that a supervisor would be in touch but I heard nothing. Because I didnt buy the fuel oil at the ridiculously higher price my service contract was then canceled. I was forced to call a different oil company for a delivery and found it odd that they were able to supply me with a decent price and a petro truck is what showed up to deliver the fuel. I followed this up with a letter asking for some sort of understanding why my service contract was deleted and after 30 years thats how you treat a customer? I mean 75% increase because Im not getting as much fuel as I used to.

So incredibly disgusted with their pricing. They're so obnoxiously above the NYSERDA price on a market-rate agreement I have with them.4/14/2022 - they just charged me $5.989/gallon (no service agreements, no contracts). NYSERDA has it at $5.15/gallon and a local competitor just offered me $4.70/gallon. They're preying on their customers who simply just pay the oil **** as it comes. I implore all of you to check their price against NYSERDA (**********************************************************************************************************************) Disgusting.

After more than 6 months since signing a contract with Petro Home Services to do an oil to gas conversion I am still waiting for this project to be completed. I am aware all projects have delays and other setbacks but what occurred with me, and your company is totally unacceptable especially within the last month when I was scheduled to have the gas boiler installed on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. This is the timeline of what has occurred since then:8/17/21: Two installers from Petro came out to the property, however due to signage on the front of the house from the ***************** (***) that indicated Do Not Enter, the installers as per their supervisor were told not to enter the property. I gave one of the installers the business card for one of the *** inspectors, I observed him take a picture of the card with his smartphone and I assumed that either he or the someone at Petros installation department would follow up with the *** inspectors to determine if when they could enter the property at a later date.8/19/21- After not hearing anything back from Petros installation department I called the customer service department and as per a representative they informed me that they left a voicemail message and sent an email to a person (no name was given) in the installation department to contact me to provide me an update < no one contacted me>8/25/21- I called the Petro customer service after not getting any update and I spoke with a representative in the installation department who stated the installer was on vacation. She asked for my phone number and stated she would call me back after speaking to her manager 8/31/21- I called Petro customer service and I was transferred to the installation department, and I was informed by the representative that she would be escalating the call and would have someone call me back regarding the delayed installation 9/2/21- I called Petro customer service department and was told they cannot enter the property due to the signage from the *** violation. The representative stated they would forward this matter to the original salesperson I signed the contract with, (however he was out of the office until Tuesday, 9/7/21), as well as the installation manager. She advised me to contact the *** to see if I can obtain a written letter or document that allows for the installer to enter the premises to do the installation .9/8/21- I called Petro customer service and was transferred to a representative in the *********************** who she stated they didnt receive any document from the ***; I received a call from original salesperson to schedule a visit to the property on Friday, 9/9/21 to inspect a chimney that was recently installed to connect the gas boiler . 9/14/21- I called Petro customer service department and was transferred to the installation department to follow up if the requested documentation was received. I was informed the documentation had not received 9/16/21- Called Petro customer service to determine if the requested document was received. They had not received it .9/21/21- I called Petro service department to follow up if the requested document was received. According to the customer service representation (I did not speak with directly with anyone in the installation department), they relayed a message from the installation department that they received the document and will call me back to discuss an equipment issue ; I called the salesperson that morning however the phone just rang and his voicemail box indicated it was full; I called again later in the afternoon but the call went straight to voicemail and voicemail box again indicated it was full.9/28/21- I called Petro customer service and spoke with a representative by the name of *******; While on the call with *******, she informed me that she was trying to transfer me to the installation department, but she could not reach anyone. She stated she would send them an email to contact me. I requested her to provide the corporate address to send a letter of complaint about this matter; After that call ended, the original salesperson who I was having difficulty reaching, finally contacted me so he could visit the property to inspect the area for the gas boiler installation. I allowed him to enter the property and did not get a chance to discuss with him all the issues I was having with his company due to a meeting I was planning to attend. My experience with your company started out positive but as of late it has been a horrendous ordeal. I feel abandoned on this project, and I am considering moving forward with another company that to complete the gas boiler installation. I am posting this on the Better Business Bureau site so others may know and be warned before contacting your company. I will not and shall not recommend your company or services to anyone I know now or in the future. Your level of customer service is appalling (with the exception of the few representatives I contacted first through your toll-free number).I dont know how you expect to stay in business for the next hundred years when you conduct such business in a pitiable manner with your customers. I for one will never deal with you again after this experience.--****

Petro sold me a maintenance service contract but they refuse to replace a corroded gasket on the circulator pump until it completely breaks and my basement is flooded. I was told when I signed up it was included in the contract. Bait and switch for sure. They get you to sign up and then tell you that what you need is not included and costs extra. I will not be renewing this contract and will be switching to another heating company.
