I had a fence and deck built last fall. The fence is fine, gate was wonky but they replaced it. My problem is with the deck. First of all when they built it they partially covered a window with the railing. Secondly railing corners are not lining up, deck holds water on one board. Handrail is like a live edge piece of wood, needs sanded down. Shoddy work. The supervisor did come out once and told me that's the nature of wood. Also said guarantee does not cover wood but workmanship. Have called several times and they are not responding.

Mrs. ***** is upset that her natural wood deck is reacting to the elements.  Mrs. ***** asked and paid for a pressure treated pine deck.  Which is what we installed, it was explained to Mrs. ***** that lumber being a natural product is prone to aging, splintering, and warping (especially if no stain or clear coat is applied). This is what she is calling poor workmanship not how the deck itself is built.  She is correct and the rail location was originally incorrect, we promptly addressed this issue before final payment was asked for.  There were no concerns for workmanship at that time.  Only now after the lumber has had a chance to react to the elements and she is unsatisfied with the product she requested does she think the “workmanship” is an issue.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I have had wood decks previously and they did not warp and have gaps where wood is not joining correctly. I know wood ages but this has been less than a year. I understand splintering but one of the hand rails looks like live edge lumber was used.
I would be satisfied if they would correct their errors.  I do appreciate that they replaced the double gate.

    Sincerely,
