    1) Aaron Construction Inc./***** ****** never obtained the permit for work. 2) Aaron Construction Inc. did not submit a drawing to the city to get approval for additional work 3) All of the gravel works up to this point had to be removed because of the above plus: 1.3) The recycled concrete gravel that was dumped and leveled for the new patio was too high. This means the patio is attached to a crawl space with vents, blocking the vents for the crawl space. This would have kept the moisture in the crawl space and eventually degraded the structure of the crawl space. Crawl space is currently holding the first and second floors of the house. Blocking of the vents is not allowed by city code. The city requires drawing for a new patio with approval of the size which is too close to the property line of the neighbor. The city requires a permit for the patio after the drawing is approved. 1.4) The recycled concrete gravel was dumped and leveled on the side of the walkway of the house it is too high. This means instead of digging the dirt out, Aaron Construction added gravel on top of excising dirt which covered the sill plate of the house without any sealer in place, illuminated the proper clearance level for vents to the double fireplace on the same side of the house (1st floor and basement level), and covered 1st layer of the aluminum siding. The city violation code for not creating a proper barrier between the sill plate made out of wood (the structure of the house) which would have caused the west side of the house structure to decay. The city violation code is the side for the height of blocking vents for the fireplace. The city violation code for trying illegally to cover an aluminum siding with a concrete line that is drawn across the siding for concrete to be poured up to. The city violation code for a wrong slope of water leveled is coming towards the house not away from the house. *more reasons are in Word doc attached

    To Whom it may concern,

This complaint is totally false. The customer received inaccurate information from another contractor who has no experience in concrete construction. The prep work that was started was not complete because the job was started in the winter of 2023 and was supposed to be resumed in May of 2024 with the agreement from both parties (Aaron Construction, Inc and ******* ******** to resume prep work and obtain the necessary approvals from the city before all work resumed. In May of 2024, which now all permits and drawings are accepted and approved by the City Building Department. Also, there is no current violations against Aaron Construction, Inc. There were no pre-pour inspections ordered because the prep work was only partially finished, and the job was ordered stopped by the homeowner because of inaccurate information.

Because of these reasons Aaron Construction, Inc. denies all accusations in this complaint.

Note: Aaron Construction, Inc. always obtains all necessary permits and inspections.

    Facts:

    1) Aaron Construction (Marty)  failed to do a drawing for a new patio, a new side walk and a new front change to the house before any work was done.

    2) Aaron Construction failed to submit the drawing to the city for an approval before any work can be done.

    3) The actual work that was done, was not done in the compliance to the city with multiple mistakes listed in the original letter form an actual inspector from the city of Shaker Hts.

    4) The base, the grade, and slope and so many other things were discussed between me and the city inspector that Aaron Construction done illegally. As well please read the first letter, all that information come form the inspector, not from any other sources.

    5) Not including the fact that Marty (Mark same as Aaron Construction) was suppose to cement everything within a week and the only permit Aaron construction ever got was on April of 2024 for the existing driveway, existing patio and walk way... never mentioned about new patio work, new side walk or new front adjustments that were done illegally and incorrect on November of 2023, this is when the permit should have been approved!

I want my money back $5,000 for the horrible job that was done wrong and must be re-done per city, I want $2,000 back for the cost of the concrete price lock that was never poured, I want $500 back my family suffering from disconnecting my air conditioning per Aaron construction request while failed to complete the job in timely matter and I had to connect air conditioning back without job being done.

Please see the attached files from the city not some contractor that I know! The actual inspectors who evaluated Aaron construction work and found it non-compliance in every aspect plus the contract and the verification of all the payments is attached previously.

    Sinceerely,

RECEIVED VIA EMAIL BY BBB STAFF MEMBER:

    To whom it may concern:

    Facts:
    1. Aaron Construction, Inc. currently has all necessary permits for the total job including 2 patios, driveway, garage floor, apron, all walks, right side, front, left side and rear. The drawings were reviewed by the city planning which took additional time and were approved by the planning and building department in May, 2024.

    2. The city currently has an approved drawing.

    3. The actual work that was started was mainly excavation of the soil and installation of sewer drainage pipes and partial gravel installation on only the right side for small portion of walk and patio prep which represented 10% of the total job. The letter from the city is only non compliance based on complaints by the homeowner and not a violation against Aaron Construction, Inc.

    4. Once again the work started was only started because of a drainage issue and nothing illegal was done. If so, there would of been violations against Aaron Construction, Inc and court orders which there is none.

    5. Currently there are permits for the total job with approved drawings by the city. The small portion that was started was only because of drainage concerns by the homeowners and the agreement was to do the drainage work in the winter of 2023 and resume May 2024 after all drawings and permits are issued which are currently issued. The base, grade and slope on the right side is not completed. When completed and ready for the inspection, it's the responsibility  of the contractor to contact the city for inspection and not the homeowner. We were planning in May 2024 per agreement to resume the total job which consist of rear patio, right side patio, garage floor, driveway, apron, left, front, rear and right side walks with plan to obtain all necessary inspections before pouring any concrete.

Also, Aaron Construction, Inc, is willing and ready to resume and complete the job with the supervision of the city, which was the original plan.

Aaron construction is not allowed to do any business in Shaker heights City because of unsatisfactory with the city. As well as the work that was done, with all verification documentation from the city. I provided city of Shaker Hts., proof of incorrect permits including inspector report to back up my fact. I want my money back, for horrible job.

    Thank you for the respond,

I looked over every copy and document that Aaron Construction attached, it states that they were never were given a permission to do an addition or any changes to add another patio on the west side of the house. It also shows that they never submitted any drawing that explains the work that they have done in 2023. Please give me my money back and stop showing the documentation that proves my point over and over again.

    Customer Answer

Please understand my contract with AAron Construction, started with me  paying them the 5k for work that was evaluated by the city as not in compliance - I want that money back plus I paid 2k for a price hold for work that was never started (concrete pour). Plus other items I listed. So the reason I’m asking help from BBB is to help me collect my losses with contractor who failed me and I had to terminate the contract with Aaron construction. A month later after termination of the contract Aaron construction went back to building permit department and under false representation acquired a new permit. That permit does not cancel any of the above information. A new permit does not mean that they have contacted me and fixed actual work or minimized any financial, time consuming damages they have done. As I stated first time with BBB - I want my money back. Thank you!
