I was contacted by the business to go to their location for a market research event on December 5, 2024. I received a confirmation and went to their Santa Ana California location and was told I was not on their list. Their front desk person and their manager attempted to find out why I had an appointment but was not on their list. They told me that they would give me $50.00 for my time. I told them I had traveled to their location for the event and it was now rush hour traffic. I contacted the business' corporate location via email on December 5, 2024, and subsequently their President Kikel on December 6, 2024 via email. I received a phone call back from a lady who identified herself as responding on behalf of President Kikel. She apologized and told me that if they made an error, they would compensate me for my time. She told me that she would send me a check in the amount of $90.00 to my address. I was subsequently contacted by their Santa Ana California location and asked if I would be interested in doing another market research event since the one from December 5, 2024 was their error. They told me that it would be $50.00 for me to come and taste test frozen vegetarian food. I completed the event on December 18th, 2024, and I have yet to receive the compensation. On December 18th, 2024, I sent an email to President Kikel indicating no check had been received as a follow up for the $90.00. I am seeking $90.00 for their admitted error of the December 5, 2024 market research and $50.00 for the completed market research of December 18, 2024, for a total of $140.00.Business Response

Hello,
The original check for the hot sauce study at MainPlace Mall has been voided and a new check is being re-issued today, January 20. Due to the government holiday it will be mailed tomorrow, January 21. The other study you participated in (frozen meal) pays via Amazon gift card 4-6 weeks after the study has been completed by all participants. That incentive ($50) has been added to your check as a courtesy so you will not receive an Amazon gift card for this study. Your new check totals $140 and includes incentives for both your participations.

Participated in a market research study over a month ago still haven't been compensated as well as NO response from this company whatsoever. I've called and no answer on the phone, emailed and no response. This was a pizza board that I did near end of Nov or early December. It's terrible you have to hunt them down for $75. I was recruited and participated in a 90 minutes online interview by Opinions LTD on 6.20.24. No check was received. Contacted the company, was told was the check will be reissued. Never received. Was given many excuses but now, the customer service stopped responding to my emailsBusiness Response

I’ve done a survey on June 21st and and the check was sent out on 7/17/2024 I never received it in the mail I gave it a month to arrive. They are charging me $20 to get a check reissued and sent out but I have to rely on replying to a help desk email there is no one to talk to. I’ve been emailing them back and forth for two weeks they respond when they want days at a time like the last email I got was would I like a check reissued I waited a day to respond to that one only to get the same email the next day it’s like they are trying not to send my check.Business Response

On November 9, 2023 I participated in a Zoom meeting for L’Oréal. I was promised compensation of $250. I waited approximately a month for payment then I reached out via email to ask when I could expect payment. I received a response response stating they sent my check to my home or I must have gave them the wrong address (I have done other surveys and got paid via check before). Since December I have sent numerous emails and called serveral times (voicemail full) all with no response. As of this day of filing this complain for my payment of $250, I have not received compensation nor any type of response to my let me know when my check will arrive. .Business Response

I participated in a study for this company several months ago and I was supposed to be paid $75 I have been given the runaround and every single excuse in the book by the manager John as to why I haven’t been paid yet they told me that they accidentally didn’t include my name in the study and they have to speak with other people to get this resolved, payment has been delayed for months now and I want to get paid and get this over with already. I was recruited for a study where I would go to a store and do exercises to evaluate a new product. I was told by the recruiter on the phone I would receive a Visa Gift card. I received a confirmation email (attached) whcih never mentioned the payment was an Amazon gift Card. I completed the task on July 20. I then waited for payment. I received payment today (8/15/23), but payment was in the form of an Amazon Gift Card. I contacted the project manager, who directed me to contact the Help Desk. I then sent an email to the help desk and copied Mark K****, the CEO of Opinions LTD. I received an immediate email response from Mark K**** telling me they only issue Amazon gift cards and not Visa Gift cards. I then told him to send me a check then. He then sent me a rude response declaring that I didn't have a choice, despite me knowing they do offer check as a a payment option (email attached). At no time did Opinions LTD indicate that they would be paying in Amazon Gift cards. The reason they pay in this method is because they pay less than face value for the Amazon Gift card. I demand a check for my time and energy in this project.Customer Answer

At the end of August 2022, opinions ltd emailed participants to take part in a 2 month lotr survey. It claimed you would be rewarded 200 at the end of the survey And an additional 75 for completion of all 8 surveys. (USD $275). The 8 surveys would be available via a portal after each episode of lotr rings of power aired. Each survey took about 20mins to complete as it was very detailed and thorough. I completed each and all. The last air date was on October 14th. I asked the admin in the portal when the compensation would be sent and was told it would be sent the following week in the form of a gift card. A month passed and there was no email. I tried to contact the admin again but the portal was closed. The initial email was a bounce back no response email. I went onto the website and submitted a form but got no reply. It seemed they closed off all contact so there was nothing you could do to be paid. I managed to see another survey by the company and requested to join with two separate emails and same demographics. My email i used to enlist in lotr was not invited but the new one was. It seems they have no intention of contacting past participants and it was a deliberate scam to not pay anyone. Now I could contact via the new survey email, I asked the admin about it. Coincidentally she replied that it was mailed "last week". What are the odds it's "last week" to the same time I successfully got into contact. Now that a new admin is claiming it is a check and not the same story of it being a gift card, I can conclude there was never a true payment method. She said she would "check tomorrow" as though a mail needs to or can be checked if it was truly sent. Based on these other reports I can tell this is a scam company that may only compensate those who flag them and keep demanding payment. A handful of payments to silence the reports whilst all other poor participants would never be paid. I hope there is a legal way to close the company for good.Initial Complaint

On May 19, 2022 I participated in a Zoom meeting. I was promised compensation of $150 plus an additional $25 if I checked in early, which I did. I waited approximately 2 weeks for payment then I reached out via email to ask when I could expect payment. I received no response. On 7/1/22 a rep called the consumer and advised her they sent her payment 6/1/22, they told her they would cancel that and reissue a check. The consumer wanted to let us know she received a check on 7/9/22 for a refund of $175.00 and her complaint was resolved.
