In November 2023 We paid $900 to Amy, the business owner, and then almost $3000 to **** ***** for materials now unusable. Amy’s business was hired to install a specific design of shelves and cabinets around a fireplace. Once installed the cabinets were not built to code & were not the design agreed upon. Drawers were installed when there should have only been doors. Cabinets were purchased premade & the installed wood work had 3 different colors of white. Workers said they had no plans on painting. The countertops were supposed to be a stone, but she forgot to include that in the quoted price & took the price of our project up by $2100. At this point our agreed upon materials budget was already over by $800. That was almost 50% over budget. If we would have went with the countertops we requested we would’ve been over quote budget by $2900. The purchased cabinets are not the same materials and they do not line up nor are they symmetrical. The shelving installed was cut by hand & uneven due to improper measurement, leaving gaps in various places along the walls that are very noticeable. The countertop installed was a $35 piece of pine that was not sanded nor sealed. Electrical outlets were covered in a way that is not too code and were not installed in the places that were in the original design. A very large, awkward cabinet was placed at the end of the built-in section that is very out of place and does not fit with the design we agreed upon nor does it fit within the design of the house. During this process, I submitted several complaints & asked for the project to be stopped in which Amy ignored. Amy never came & visited after complaints were filed to see the issues at hand. We have consulted with 3 different contractors to get pricing on repairing and we have been told the only thing that can be done is pull everything out & start over. There was also damage done to our tile work around the fireplace which will come to a total of over $1800 to repair.

Well, this case has been resolved. We are still incredibly disappointed by this designer. She is literally a scammer of the elderly. I don’t know if there’s any other way to leave a red flag after this post has been removed, but I would never recommend her to anyone ever.

    Thanks,
