This is far by the worst life insurance company ever. They are scamming and I would not recommend to anyone. My mom recently passed and had two policies. I asked for her original policy where she signed and they typed up some mess that not telling me anything. They only sent me one policy but ignoring the other one as if I dont know she had two policies. Im going to report them and get the news involved. Just horrible. They just keep beating around the bush not giving the correct information.Review from Laurie W

Worst customer service I have ever had-Multiple calls for a distribution 3x this past November and I was told the rmd distribution was being taken care of. Money would be sent in 7 days. No money sent. I was told it was an older policy and it had to be "manually done". My sister and I each were beneficiaries on this annuity and take the same distribution each year or we both ask for the same amount if we take additional money so they can't keep making errors. For 4 years in a row they have put my distribution along with her own distribution on her 1099 and I don't receive a 1099. More phone calls to them to correct it. We decided to surrender this annuity as there would be no penalty and it was for a small amount. Sent paperwork thru priority mail so it could be tracked. They received it May 28. 2024. I called on June 10 to ensure it was in process. I was told paperwork was all in good order and we would receive our money (automatic deposit) within 20 days of when they received the paperwork and he could see both sets of paperwork (one for her and one for myself) had been scanned, I called today and spoke with another customer service rep named Sarah. I had to give her the policy number 6 times during the call. Tells me she can't find it- I ask her to locate it and let me know if the money has been sent. She tells me the money was sent to bank on 6/17/24 and to give it until Monday to show up. I ask for $ amount to ensure it was correct. The $ amount was the full amount of the closing of the annuity- I ask Sarah to verify with me that it was sent to the two different bank accounts as notated on their paperwork. She tells me yes it was- I contact my sister...they sent the entire amount to her bank account. To top this off- Western Southern wants her to send a letter into them giving them permission to pull the money out of her account and send back to them. How long do you think this is going to take.... days.. weeks. I have had nothing but hassles with this.Review from Sandra D

Western Southern Life agent visited us within the past two weeks. This is when we were advised my husband is NOT INSURED. They terminated his Universal Life. So, here we are. My husband is 87 years old. No insurance. We have had insurance policies with Western Southern since we were in our twenties. I cannot express how frustrated and angry I am. I am posting this as a warning to others who may also have Universal Life insurance. Please be aware and review your insurance coverage.Review from Victoria G

This is hands down one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with! My mom recently passed away, she has been with them since 1978. I can not get a straight answer from them on anything! They are snake oil salesmen!! Do not do business with them!! Sickening!!Review from larry g

I had a maturing annuity and received **** mail notification of renewal options. However, this notification provided no interest rate information for the various term lengths offered. I called them to get this information and received rate information for the terms I was considering. I chose one and mailed back their form to indicate my choice. A few weeks later I received notification that the new contract I had selected was now in effect but It was for a much lower interest rate than verbally quoted on the phone. When I called to complain, I got no satisfaction. By only providing information verbally, Western and Southern was able to rip me off with impunity.Review from Terry H

his company is a joke! Very hard to get answers and file appeals they hide behind recordings and I have had 12 different agents in 20 years. I’m paying a higher premium because of a rating I was given. After 17 years of being extremely healthy I requested to get the rating removed and had their nurse conduct a physical on me. Never ever got the results from that. Requested to get it lowered again the next year and I was just told by a phone rep that corporate sent an internal memo not to me that I am not eligible for an appeal. Never informed me. I will be seeking a lawyer next. I would steer clear of this companyReview from Ronald P

I have a three (3) year fixed annuity with Western Southern. During a recent review of my RMD withdrawal notifications, via the online 'View Documents' folder for my account, I was presented with my account information along with the account informnation of another client. Abviously, that wasn't good. It provided the name, address, account number, current b!lance and recent withdrawal information for the other customer. Opps! My advice......'Stay Clear!'.Review from Dawanna M

My 91 year old mother in Law took out a policy for my brother in law since 1995 for $4000. My mother has paid into this policy $3074.00. She became sick late last year and I had to start paying the bills and had to piece everything together from her bank account. There were two monthly policy's one for $9.70 and another $9.71. I did not realise at the time that it was different policies. I missed 2 payments and when I realised it contacted them to pay the two months. My brother filled out papers and we sent it back with a check. This was around the end of January. When I try to go online to setup recurring payments so that it would never be late, I found out that the policy was being reviewed for reinstatement. I called the local agent and was suppose to be called so that I could set up everything. Didn't hear anything so I called today and was told that the policy would not be reinstated due to medical issues. My brother in law is 68 years old and may have a few medical challenges and anyone his age but to cut him off for a simple mistake is awful. They did not even consider that my mother in law was in the hospital and is still sick and is 91 years and have been paying into this policy for years. The cash value surrender value is $1158.08 less than she payed into the policy. I really hate to tell her this given her medical condition.
