This company is a complete scam. I have tried for 2 weeks to contact them regarding my recently deceased father and they never answer my calls and will not return them either. (I was on hold every time for ever! Then was sent to a voice mail every time!) They continued to deduct a monthly premium from their bank acct till I had the bank block them.Selman & Company

You applied for the Supplement Insurance on 11/28/2023 with our Agent - ******** This is not ***** *** It is a supplement to *******. Our policy pays what CHAMPVA does not cover. Since you claim you do not have ******* for your spouse ********, (I listened to the recorded call to our call center) I am terminating your policy to inception. This place is awful. There is no way to contact them because they do no answer. My mom is being charged twice monthly and more than her premium states. We are looking into hiring an attorney to be able to resolve this. We would prefer to speak to selman directly but we have tried calling to no avail. Literally NO ONE answers. I cannot reach selman and company insurance through phone calls I am trying to cancel my policy and no one picks up. And I also mailed cancellation letters as well. Selman and Company customer Service will not even answer the phone. I have a Life Insurance policy for my Parent, now deceased, and now way to file the claim. On hold for over 1 hour 45 minutes. I wonder if this company is a scam. Don't they have an obligation to talk to you???? The on line reviews all say the same thing, no one answers the phone. On September 30, 2024, my wife Linda received a letter from The ******** stating that her group life insurance policy was about to expire. If we wished, we could submit a conversion application to as new whole life policy. We followed the instructions, including submitting the first premium. This was done before the deadline of 31 days. On October 24, 2024, after a half hour wait I was able to speak to a representative regarding the status of the new policy. They had received the check, but has not yet cashed it. On November 5th I spoke with another representative (after another half hour wait) who told me that we had to submit another check for $81.97 to cover the interim period. Though he could not satisfactorily explain why this was necessary. I sent the check to make sure the policy was processed. On November 15th, I spoke with yet another representative who told it was not necessary. The original premium check still had not been cashed. I asked how I would be able to file a formal complaint and was told that they could not give me this information. I then received two separate phone calls from case managers assuring me that everything was taken care of and the policy would be issued. They would expedite the process. When I tried to contact one, I was told he was in a meeting and would be left a message. No call was returned. We eventually received the whole life policy. I have never experienced such poor customer service. The minimum time to talk to a live representative was never less than 30 minutes – the longest 40 minutes. The phone menu is terribly confusing and many transfers to the wrong department occurred. The waiting background music is pretty close to heavy metal. It seems that no one with this company cares anything about good customer relations and satisfaction. I used the website to request information to file a formal complaint twice. Hello ******* *** Thank you for submitting your feedback. I apologize for the confusion and poor experience. I can confirm that Ms. Campbell has an active policy with a paid to date of 5/2/2025. The conversion process can take time to process, depending on how fast we receive information from the group. I will investigate to determine why the process took almost 60 days to process her conversion application. In addition, we have modified the greeting and telephone menu items to ensure an easier process. As far as the on hold music, we use classical music. I have had nothing but trouble with my life insurance policies administered by Selman. Today I’m canceling four policies because of the horrible customer service I have received. Useless website, unreachable customer service, and I have never once received all four premium notices on time. I’ve tried multiple time to set up auto-pay and Selman doesn’t bother initiating the payment. They just send termination letters to me for payments they didn’t attempt. Occasionally just for “reasons” they’ll send a termination letter at the same time as the premium notices, for the same policy. By far the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of interacting with.Selman & Company

Worthless. This company is nothing but trouble. I started the ChampVA supplement for my wife on June 21, 2024. I paid upfront for the whole year. Never got the policy cards for wife. I have called these people numerous times because we could not create or register online for access. They kept going on and on about system issues. Finally they told me the first premium had to be MAILED in. No one in no way even mentioned that before. So I sent money order in Sep 9, 2024. Called Sep 27 and they said they have not received it even though postal service says delivered Sep 17, 2024. Said it wasn't cashed. Postal service receipt says it had been. So had to email member services with copy of money order receipt, etc. Then today I get 2 letters in the mail. One for Aug 2024 payment and another saying policy terminated due to non payment. What the hell is up with this piece of crap company. I am calling first thing Monday and they are simple NOT going to like my attitude with this entire mess. I am sick of dealing with this mess. Been trying to get this coverage started for my wife and it has been nothing but a complete freaking nightmare. They have their head so far up their A**ES its not funny anymore.Selman & Company

Please be advised that the ChampVA Supplement plan provides ID Cards with the Military Sponsor's name. All providers accept these cards for the family members of the military member.
