1 starWithin a week of starting my Metlife membership so many things had gone wrong that I cancelled it. I had two things I wanted to do immediately—I wanted to set up a living trust and I wanted my name as it appeared on the deed to my home updated to reflect a change due to divorce. I had chosen a plan that I understood to cover both. Metlife’s plans only kick in on the first of the month, so I had to wait until May 1. Finally May 1 came and I was given a list of local attorneys that could do this. I called a three-attorney firm. I spent 24 hours making calls, beginning one day and going into the next. Never was the phone answered; it just went into voicemail. I left voicemail and I emailed, but by the next day no one had gotten back to me. Bear in mind that all I wanted was to be contacted by a living person with access to a calendar so I could make an appointment. I called the next name on the list, and again the call went into voicemail. Out of curiosity I called all the other names on the list. Except for the last, all the calls went into voicemail. At the last office the attorney answered and said he did not do trusts. I wrote Metlife saying I expected them to use attorneys prosperous enough to employ a receptionist. Then it turned out that the plan I signed up for did not cover getting a trust done. It had not been clearly explained. Never mind, I upgraded so I could continue. But no, I couldn’t continue. It turned out I had to wait until June 1 for the change to take effect. Never mind that I had had to wait until May 1 for the membership to take effect. I called and asked to speak to a supervisor about waiving the wait. That was impossible, I was told. Membership matters were handled by a third party that had no phone line. It only made itself available via chat. Why on earth did Metlife accept these conditions? I am gone.Review fromAd J

1 starI spoke with a representative today, who informed me that my account was with my previous employer and I would have had to roll over by March 31 in order for my benefit to take affect immediately and today is April 2 I informed her that I have a open case since April 26 and that part of this delay is due to the lack of responsiveness from MetLife, she transferred me to Brian K*** who was misinformed had misinformation, and when I corrected it, he showed no interest in that he was very rude, abrasive and dismissive seemingly and took no interest in the facts. It’s almost like he was as I was telling him my story. It’s almost like he was putting in information. It’s almost like he was saying things to Trump what I was saying just so that he wouldn’t have to help me.Review fromKim W

Marketing for Individual MetLife plans were misleading. The representative marketed their product to me as a continuation of the services I had with a former employer. They walked me through the sign-up process via their online platform and made the process of enrollment quick and easy. However, once I needed the service I was made aware by an attorney and later on client services that the individual plans did not include actual representation, but 1-hour consultations only. This was a major let down and I felt an immediate sense of low value, poor quality of the program even at $14/month. In addition to this, I found out throrough the company's required CHAT communication that you are LOCKED into a year of recurring payments before you can cancel your plan. Also, when I did use the company-wide plan I found that the attorney assigned to me was not well-versed in her area of law. This cost an additional amount of money (outside of the plan) due to her lack of awareness of the law, her poor communication, her delayed follow-up and poor overall business practices. Ultimately I sought out and consulted with two other attorneys who were experts in their field of law. They were perplexed about my assigned attorney because they could not locate her office, location or area of expertise in a ****** search. Therefore, I believe MetLife did not do their due diligence to verify their attorney before hiring them and the only course of action suggested by MetLife client services was to "write a report" and send it to them. Hi, ***. We're very sorry to hear about the experience you had with using your individual legal plan. Our standard individual plan provides coverage for common legal matters, such as demand letters, document review, and wills. For matters not covered under your plan, you can still obtain advice and consultations from network attorneys. Attorneys in our network undergo routine evaluation and must adhere to our Attorney Code of Excellence. If a member encounters an issue with a network attorney, a report helps our team investigate and address concerns and prevent them from happening in the future. We would like an opportunity to speak with you about your experience and see how we can be of further assistance. Please reach out to our Client Service Center at 833-214-4175.Review fromDonja C.

1 starI get metlife threw my job. I submitted my yearly health screening claims and I asked for them to be direct deposited. I submitted 8 claims, provided all banking info on each one separately. Someone decided to just mail me 3 checks and the rest EFT. I spoke with the supervisor and they informed me that they can see who did it. It's unexceptable. At this point metlife is unprofessional. Everyone is not trained properly. COVID behavior should be over. They need to retrain employees and stop just looking for bodies to fill a seat. You are dealing with people money/benitfits. Very disappointed in Metlife. Also the supervisors should be able to see who submitted the claim. ID numbers should be used to see who is not doing their job properly. I reported it to corporate so we will see if anything changes. Also reporting it to my HR office at work. Corporates need to do better!Review fromNaomia W

They should have a 0 star. Horrible. I had to go online to chat with someone about cancelling or closing out my account and then was told to wait 60 DAYS to repeat the process, to close out my account, while still being charged for those two months. Here’s what happened. I made the mistake of getting MetLife legal instead of MetLife dental. My tooth was hurting that bad. Called the same month to cancel and whoever I spoke with over the phone told me it was cancelled. 4 months later I was still being charged. I had to go to my bank to do a stop payment to resolve this issue. Took a couple of hours to get this resolved.MetLife Legal Plans, Inc

The plan is really not worth the money you put into it. The lawyers don't want any of the cases and barely return phone calls and then when you have Metlife find a lawyer for you all they can do is say, "find a lawyer out of network and we'll reimburse you". Problem is the reimbursement amounts are laughable. As soon as I can get out of this plan I will drop it like a hot potato.MetLife Legal Plans, Inc

Metlife Legal Plan is a waste of time and money. Attorney's don't return calls and the ones that answer the phone aren't interested and don't give any legal advice. Customer support is no help also. A ZERO should be offered as a rating.MetLife Legal Plans, Inc

MetLife was a life saver for my children and I after my their father, my ex-husband died unexpectedly and intestate and we had to sell the estate. I hired an attorney through Metlife Legal Prepaid services who handled all the probate, and estate matters. Our life was much easier because of the plan.MetLife Legal Plans, Inc

I was not provided the necessary services and or knowledge of processes based on my legal needs. I was continually handed around to different persons and sent to voicemails wherein I was never called back. The lawyers they referred did not and or want to participate even though their names were active on the list.MetLife Legal Plans, Inc
