This company now feels like a scam. Like many others, I was lured by their offer of an interest-free line of credit through their partnership with Paytient. It worked great…until PawProtect decided to end the partnership with Paytient in March 2024. I paid both the PawProtect insurance fee and my Paytient balance automatically every month without fail, but now I was left with no Paytient card and just the remaining payments to Paytient, which I’m still paying through automatic withdrawals from my bank account. When I called PawProtect to question their decision, the representative suggested that I try CareCredit….When I replied that CareCredit charges high interest rates if you have a balance after a predetermined period of time, the representative claimed that so does Paytient, which is completely false, since the Paytient line of credit is an HSA account, and by definition, interstate free. Do yourself a favor and away from this company!

This company is pathetic! Stay far away and do not waste your money on their "products ". They will go to extraordinary efforts to find ways to deny your claims. Stay away if you value your pet's and your money.

I got the insurance for annual dental cleanings. They claim to cover dental. The funny maddening thing is... we got denied over plaque. Because plaque is pre-existing. This is a scam, it's a lie. Dental cleanings are meant for pre-existing plaque removal... That is the whole purpose. They shouldn't be allowed to claim they cover dental cleanings if they won't cover a claim because he was due for some plaque removal. Not one tooth on this planet doesn't have plaque on it. I don't believe it should be legal to claim they could cover dental if they won't simply cover the removal of plaque. All plaque is pre-existing, until it's removed and grows back and gets removed again. The process was redundant. They really couldn't even figure out how to get his previous medical records. That was their excuse for taking 2 months... They never got them. They ended up asking me to. Here I am paying them $130 a month to do their work for them and be denied over plaque. It's a total scam

STAY AWAY!! PawProtect/Embrace is absolutely horrible! It is not about the welfare of your animal, it is all business and money to them. They claim short term minor issues are pre-existing conditions, even after they have received all of my dogs records for 1 year without showing any conditions, and an email from my veterinarian explaining that my dogs are healthy and DO NOT have any pre-existing conditions. I guess they think they know more than a hands on, licensed, long established, Veterinarian. This company is the absolute worst dog/animal insurance company I have ever dealt with. I wished I would have read BBB before I signed up with this "DELAY TO PAY" and "CHOOSE TO REFUSE" claims company!

Horrible - they will keep finding reasons to deny your claims and draw out your monthly payments. Sent them the info they needed MULTIPLE times, the vet sent info, we got a personal email and sent things here too…nothing. This company is a scam.

I have 2 dogs on Paw Protect/Embrace. It is expensive, plus I added extra insurance for both dogs. I have several claims they are dragging out and not responding to for payments. They first stated they needed "SOAP notes" from my vet, which they received, now it is "pending medical history" which they received. And they are still saying they need medical history. They have all of my dogs medical history. Myself and my veterinarian have sent several requests to Paw Protect insurance They send the same auto response to every one of my emails, but will not respond with any any follow up. When it comes to paying claims, this is their practice. "DELAY TO PAY" and "CHOOSE TO REFUSE!" I chose PawProtect because of Forbes and other ads about how great they are and that they cover more than other insurance companies. This company is horrible!! I used Trupanion in the past for my other dog, who had cancer. Trupanion reimbursed and paid quickly for his treatments. They were amazing. I am going back to ********** Stay away from PawProtect/Embrace!!

I thought I had done enough research, but apparently I was wrong. I paid in for just about the highest insurance possible under PawProtect's program for my 12-year-old Chihuahua. I ended up going for a routine vet visit ONE time and they sent me a check after the visit, which I was grateful for. That is until I had to cancel the insurance and I had to pay them back more money than they had reimbursed me for plus what I had already paid into for having the insurance. So, basically I still owe on my personal credit card and I am repaying them. Stay away. This was my first experience with pet insurance and I'm feeling like maybe none of them are worth it.

There are quite a few good pet insurance companies and this is not one of them. Do your research, I wish I had but the fact that they offer you a credit card to use for out of pocket expenses blinded me. They will make any excuse to not pay a bill using ‘preexisting’ as a reason to deny. Don’t be blinded like I was and now I have a $1200 er bill from my puppy who contracted pneumonia and this was denied because of preexisting …just because she had a minor cough months earlier. Like I said , don’t get scammed like I did.

Paw Protect (aka Embrace Pet Insurance) is a scam. I had two dogs insured on their policy. One of my dogs died unexpectedly in June. She had no issues when I first insured her. I did the ortho report card and exam to reduce the waiting period to 14 days. Received an email from Paw Protect stating that no abnormalities were noted and got approved for the reduced period. A month later (after the waiting period was over) my dog started having problems with her hind legs. She declined very rapidly over the course of 2-3 weeks to the point of paralysis and eventually had to be put down. During these 3 weeks we had to have multiple diagnostic testing performed to try to determine the cause of her problem including ultrasounds and MRI and bloodwork, which got very expensive. But I went ahead and got them done reassuring myself that the insurance would help cover most of the costs since she was cleared orthopedically from the ortho report card. Paw Protect denied every single one of my claims using the same exam that was used for the ortho report card. How do they use the same exam to approve a reduced waiting period telling me there were no abnormalities noted to denying my claims based on the same exam because somehow there is now an abnormality noted? They just denied my appeal despite the fact that my primary vet and neurologist submitted letters in support of my claims stating that there was no evidence that my dog had a preexisting condition prior to the end of the waiting period. Their adjusters and underwriters cherry pick medical records to fit their narrative to deny. I plan on filing a complaint with the Dept. of Insurance, and if needed a lawsuit. 0

It was a long process to sign up for this insurance, and then there was a waiting period. Following the waiting period, I took my dog in for an exam where a mass was discovered. There had been no history whatsoever of any cancer or illness. The adjuster tried to twist language in the file and denied not only my current claim, but all other claims moving forward.. There was clearly never any intention to pay anything, and this a scam. It is also impossible to reach a person at customer service.
