Thank you for allowing us to address your concerns. We value your experience as a resident of a Nationwide Energy Partners (NEP) partner community.
All residences in NEP-serviced communities are billed based on the metered usage in the unit. NEP individually meters each unit to determine actual usage, using the same quality, state-of-the-art industrial smart meters deployed by the utilities. These meters are rigorously tested for accuracy before deployment and have proven highly reliable. NEP monitors and reviews meter data regularly to ensure veracity. Over more than 25 years of operations, we have carried out hundreds of meter tests, and third-party testing companies found every meter tested accurately.
We cannot determine how electricity is used within an individual unit. Many factors can impact electricity consumption weather, unit age, location, construction quality, occupancy, personal habits, etc.
To better manage electricity usage (and reduce bills), it is crucial to understand which items in your apartment use the most energy. Generally, your HVAC unit consumes the lions share of electricity as much as 50% or more of total usage. Your water heater can use another 15% - 20%. Although still important, other items such as lighting make up only about 2% - 4% of a typical residents usage.
In the winter, the cost of heating a unit can be exacerbated by particularly cold weather. Most apartments in **** rely on an electric heat pump to warm the unit (unlike single-family homes that typically use natural gas). Once temperatures fall below 30 degrees, less efficient heat pumps may switch to auxiliary or emergency heat which can quickly consume large amounts of electricity. Any suggestion that NEP intentionally alters usage or in any way artificially inflates residents bills is categorically false. NEP bills are based on the metered electric usage in your unit, and we guarantee that your total metered charges are capped at or below the equivalent total bill amount that your local utility would have charged for standard service. This ensures you are never charged more than what the local utility would have billed for the same usage.

Not sure how this company has a A+ rating because its horrible the ridiculous prices theyre charging us for community charges outrageous for something that has nothingto do with renters. And the only reason were getting charged some of these common community charges is because the apartment complex reports it to the electric company And some of these things we dont even have the report to the company of Electric so when you really needs to look into this company the Management property peopleNationwide Energy Partners, LLC

Hi *****,
Thank you for your review and for sharing your concerns. We understand that common area usage charges can be frustrating and appreciate the opportunity to clarify how these charges work.
Common area usage charges cover the electric and/or water costs for shared-use areas in your community. Your property has chosen to divide these costs equally among all residents.
NEP bills common area usage on behalf of your property. We do not determine the allocation of these charges. We recommend contacting your property management for a more detailed explanation of the common area charges in your community.

Hello ***,
Thank you for sharing your concerns. We truly value your experience as a resident of a Nationwide Energy Partners (NEP) partner community, and wed like to address your concerns.
Any implication that NEP intentionally bills residents at a rate that exceeds the host utilitys all-in residential rate for the same amount of usage is incorrect. NEP never bills at a rate that exceeds the host utilitys all-in rate. NEP is contractually obligated to charge the same or less than the host utilitys rate for the same usage, and we take this obligation very seriously. In ****, you can verify this by visiting the *************************************** (PUCO) Utility Rate Survey Dashboard at ********************************************************************************************** and click on the Launch button on the right-hand side of the page to launch the dashboard. Additionally, all Ohio utilities must offer a submetering rate calculator. You may visit the host utility site for your area and use this calculator to verify the accuracy of your rates.
The other factor affecting the electricity portion of your NEP bill is usage. While we cannot determine how electricity is used in individual units, many variables can impact consumption. For helpful energy-saving tips, please visit the conservation tips page on our resident website (**************************************************************).NEP individually meters each unit and bills based on actual usage, using state-of-the-art industrial meters, the same type used by the utilities. These meters are highly reliable, rigorously tested, and certified for accuracy before deployment. Over our 25 years of operations, NEP has carried out hundreds of meter tests, and 100% of them were deemed accurate by third-party testing companies. Although we cannot speculate on what is using electricity in any given unit, your monthly kWh usage is comparable to other units of similar size in your community.
Finally, in addition to electricity usage, NEP may consolidate charges for water & sewer and community-related services into a single bill at the communitys request. Communities choose the unified bill option because it provides transparency and simplifies payment. This unified bill does not alter the amount a resident pays for any of these services and is described in the residents lease agreement with the property.

I can't understand the usage I am charge for. I am gone 10 to 11 hours every day, don't run air conditioning during the summer and live alone. My gas, water and electric combined in a 2600 Sq foot house was less than I am paying for a 1000 Sq ft apartment.Nationwide Energy Partners, LLC

Hello ****,Thank you for your review and giving us the opportunity to address your concerns. We value your experience as a resident of a Nationwide Energy Partners (NEP) partner community. Comparing usage and utility bills between a single-family home and an apartment is not straightforward. Although a units size is a consideration, many variables can impact usage in a unit. Some examples include location, weather, insulation, construction quality, appliance efficiency, heating/cooling efficiency, personal habits, etc. Consider also that electricity rates have risen significantly over the past several years, further disqualifying a valid comparison between single-family homes and multifamily dwellings energy bills during different periods.Another specific example is many apartment communities in **** utilize electric heat pump ************* meaning both the heating and cooling in the unit are provided by electricity. Heat pumps can create significant power draws in winter to maintain thermostat set points. That power usage would simply not occur in a single-family home using a gas furnace. Given these many variables, we cannot speculate on what is using electricity in your unit, but we will share how we measure usage and ensure those measurements are accurate. NEP individually meters and bills each unit in the multifamily communities we serve. We charge only for the metered usage in your unit. NEP also employs state-of-the-art industrial meters. These meters are rigorously tested for accuracy before they leave the manufacturing facility and have proven highly reliable. We also monitor and review meter data regularly to ensure veracity. Over our 25 years of operations, we have carried out hundreds of meter tests, and third-party testing companies found every meter tested accurately. Finally, NEP always bills at a rate that is at or below what the local utility would charge for the same usage amount. You can verify this rate for yourself by visiting the ************************************ Utility Rate Survey Dashboard (******************************************************************************)If you have any further questions or would like assistance with the Utility Rate Survey Dashboard, please call our resident support team at ************, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST.Thank you,Nationwide Energy PartnersReview fromKylee D

I was not informed my property was apart of a class action lawsuit involving NEP. The suit is caused from raising rates, because they own the property we rent from. My bill is $225+ for an apartment. We are gone 8+ hours a day. Wish we could go back to AEP, as it was considerably less for the same square footage. I will never EVER live anywhere that has NEP again. Paying $59 extra for fixed rates as if they aren't up charging the usage as is!Nationwide Energy Partners, LLC

Hello *****, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We truly value your experience as a resident of a Nationwide Energy Partners (NEP) partner community, and we’d be happy to address your concerns and clear up any misunderstandings. It is important to note that comparing your NEP bill directly to a previous bill from AEP is not an apples-to-apples comparison, even if the unit square footage is similar. Unlike AEP, which only bills for your personal electricity usage, NEP provides a unified bill that covers multiple services at your community’s request. While your NEP bill does include charges for your personal electricity usage, it also consolidates charges for water & sewer and community-related services. The unified bill does not alter the amount a resident pays for these services, as described in the resident’s lease agreement with the property. For example, your August bill included: • $170.77 for electricity usage in your unit • $67.75 for water & sewer, and • $27 in community charges consisting of a $20 trash fee and $7 electricity used in the shared common spaces in your community. A bill from your host electric utility (in your case AEP), would not have included water & sewer or community charges, as these would typically be billed separately or bundled into your monthly rent. Your community chose the unified bill option as it provides transparency and simplifies the payment process by consolidating these services into one statement. Finally, any implication that NEP overcharges by billing at a rate higher than the host utility’s all-in residential rate is factually incorrect. Your electricity usage is always billed at or below the host utility’s rate for the same usage. You can always verify this by visiting the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio’s Utility Rate Survey Dashboard (****************) If you have questions or additional concerns about your bill, please don’t hesitate to contact our resident support team at ###-###-####, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST. Hello ******, We sincerely value your experience as a resident of a Nationwide Energy Partners (NEP) partner community. We want to take a moment to address your review and clear up any misunderstandings. First, any implication that NEP overcharges by billing at a rate greater than the host utilitys all-in residential rate or is in any way a scam is factually incorrect. NEP never charges at a rate exceeding the local utilitys rate for the same usage. You can verify your rate for yourself by visiting the *************************** of Ohios Utility Rate Survey Dashboard (******************************************************************************) Your complaint suggests that your monthly energy bill for your one-bedroom unit is over $300. In reviewing your account, it is correct that you recently received a $300+ bill. However, this bill was not for just your electricity usage, nor a single month. At the propertys request, NEP provides your communitys residents with a unified bill. A unified bill means you pay more than just electricity services through a single bill. NEP bills electricity, ************** and community charges in your community. A unified bill does not alter the amount a resident pays for these services, as described in the residents lease agreement with the property. A closer look at your August bill shows a $76.07 charge for electricity, a $33.41 water and sewer charge, and a $30 community charge. So, your total bill for all three services on your August bill was about $140. Unfortunately, your August bill includes the previous months charges of $145.40, as they were not paid on time, and a resulting $20 late fee penalty. In other words, the $300+ bill covers two months, three different services (electricity, ************** and community), and a late fee.If you have questions or additional concerns about your account, please call our resident support experts at ************, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST.Sincerely,Nationwide Energy PartnersReview fromMaria G

1 starThis company is a complete scam I moved to a cheaper apartment. The new complex uses this company and I have never seen a electric bill this expensive I have called them and they keep telling me that the readings are correct which I find hard to believe when I have had my electric off for over a month now and it’s still high. My bill is over 300.00 and they don’t offer a payment plan or nothing. I need help to get out of this company and be able to go to another one that is cheaper and not a scamReview fromMarie H

This company is a scam. They don't provide a service they are just a middle man between you and the power company. They charge more than the actual power company does. Why can't I do business directly with AEP?Nationwide Energy Partners, LLC

Hi Marie, We genuinely value your input and experience as a resident of a Nationwide Energy Partners (NEP) partner community. Although we appreciate your frustrations at the current cost of electricity, any implication that NEP bills at a rate greater than the host utility’s all-in residential rate is incorrect. NEP is contractually obligated to never charge at a rate exceeding the local utility’s rate for the same usage. In other words, we bill at a rate that is the same or less than what AEP would have charged you for the same usage amount. You can verify this rate for yourself by visiting the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio’s Utility Rate Survey Dashboard (https://puco.ohio.gov/utilities/electricity/resources/ohio-utility-rate-survey) In multifamily communities, the property owner selects the best energy option for the residents in their community over the long term. Given the desire to attract and maintain renters, many owners choose the dependability of an energy services expert like NEP who is accountable to the host utility’s rates. In addition to billing services, NEP brings many benefits to the property, including carbon-free energy at no additional cost to the residents. By making this choice, the property owner simplifies the residents’ decision-making process and ensures each resident is being billed accurately and fairly for their energy use by legitimate companies. Marie, we hope this explanation is helpful. If you have additional questions or need further explanation, please do not hesitate to contact our resident support experts at 877-818-2637, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm EST. 1 starThis company is charging egregious amounts for their electric in the New Albany Rd corridor. My bill went from $120 this time last year to almost $300 this month for the same usage and this is for a 1 bedroom, 700 sqft apartment. Others in my area with a two bedroom received a bill for $800. Absolutely ridiculous and they should be investigated by the state for scamming and taking advantage of their customers.
