We hired this company to come out and repair an area of our gutter that was having issues with overflow during heavy rains. No written quote just verbal quote and we went with it. He installed a diverter that replaced the builder grade one that wrapped the whole way around. And extended a downspout below to the next level. Last week we must have had a little rain at night cause Friday morning I noticed water leaking from the gutter that he messed with down the masonry and pooling along foundation. So I called and it went to voicemail. There was no business greeting on the recording. Just said “you’ve reached extension…”. I left a message and never heard back all day. Later in the afternoon I left and my son came home from school and a neighbor said they saw that guy back on my roof. No phone call happened or discussion of the problem or a heads up that he was coming. He came and removed the diverter and no phone call after. I’ve been calling all day and again a greetingless vm. No response. So I have no diverter now not even my original one, when it wasn’t even the problem nor was he given consent to get on my roof at the time. I just called hoping for a response back. He also has my original diverter as well. So I have NO diverter on my gutter at all and if it rains my foundation might have problems. There hasn’t been any amount billed to me so at this point he can bring my original diverter back and not bill us. The work wasn’t done right (and now half removed) and I’ve lost trust in their unprofessionalism.Business Response

On the week of 12/5/22, I received a Sales Order in my mailbox from Dan the Gutterman. This Sales Order was not mailed to me, it was hand placed in my mailbox. The Sales Order was not in an envelope, just folded up and placed in the mailbox. The sales order was for a gutter cleanout in the amount of 155.88. On 12/12/22 I started receiving invoices for work that I did not request. I am still receiving invoices, sometimes 2 a week. I have contacted the company numerous times and no one that I have spoken to can give me an answer as to why I am receiving these invoices and no one can give me the name of the person that was at my residence and placed a sales order in my mailbox. My last two phone calls to this company have gone unanswered. Today, 2/6/23 I have two invoices in my mailbox. I tried calling the company, but no one is answering. I am retired and on a fixed income. I don't want the expense of an attorney. I'm not sure what else I can do.Business Response

WE HAVE RECORD OF A PHONE CALL BEING PLACED REQUESTING OUR SERVICES ON 12-3 AND WE CAME OUT 12-6 FOR A GUTTER CLEANING. WE DONT JUST COME AND CLEAN A GUTTER UNLESS WE ARE CALLED OUT AFTER BEING GIVEN THE OKAY TO DO SO. WE ALSO HAVE PICTURES ON COMPANY CAM THAT THE WORK WAS DONE. I am rejecting this response because: I did not place a phone call to this business on the alleged date for any type of service including the noted gutter cleaning. I will contact T-Mobile to inquire about getting phone records for alleged date that the phone call was made. In the meantime, I would like to see pictures the business allegedly had taken of the gutter cleaning. I will follow up with the BBB once I have details from T-Mobile regarding my alleged phone call to the business.

So I spoke with the owner of the company. We will attach photos of the work that was done. There may have been a miscommunication back in December of 2022. Service was rendered and we do not come out unless approved by the homeowner. Since it has been so long and the homeowner and our company want to move past this situation we have come up with a solution. Could you show the homeowner the photos, let them know the gutters were cleaned, but since they did not want the service could you tell them we are willing to wave the $155.88. If they see the photos and feel like the gutter cleaning service we provided was valuable and want to pay that would be great. If they do not want to pay and want to move on that is fine as well.Customer Answer

I accept the business's response to resolve this complaint. I also appreciate the business's acknowledgement of a miscommunication back in December 2022. Unfortunately, the pictures attached in the prior communication were not viewable. I tried various options to be able to view them but my attempts failed. I had the same difficulties in a prior communication when pictures were attached. If the pictures were taken with a newer version of the Apple iPhone, the default file type that Apple sometimes saves their pictures may be the problem.

Called for service 5/2/22. Completely forgot about me until I called on 5/13/22. Showed up on 5/16, stayed 15 minutes. Came out after the rain that afternoon to check on it, my gutters were broken WORSE. Completely warped when below it was just sagging. Now it's detached, sagging, and bent at both ends. Charged me 175. I want my money back and I will never deal with this business again.Business Response

After speaking with the technician, he only reinforced the front porch gutter, which is not visible in these photos. We did not reinforce the upper gutters displayed here. After stopping by a second time to take a look at the property, it appears the gutters on both sides of the house are warped and dettatching due to the rotting fascia board. This tends to happen after time if the gutters have been neglected.
This is something we can estimate, however it sounds like you would no longer like to move forward. We have mailed a check in the amount of $175 and wish you the best.

Last October, I hired and paid Dan the Gutterman $241 to clean out my gutters. A gutter on the front of the house would overflow when we had a hard rain. One of their contractors came out to do work while I was working from home. I wasn’t able to supervise their work. A while later, we had a hard rain while I was working from home and gutter still overflowed in the same place. I called them back and spoke to woman who said that she would look into it and get back to me. She never did. I lost track of the issue until this spring when the gutter continued to overflow during a heavy rain. Thinking that maybe the gutter needed re-sloped, I emailed them requesting another quote for re-sloping the gutter, they gave me an estimate of $145. I agreed and different contractors came yesterday, 5/15/22, to do the work. Christopher, the lead contractor went up to the gutters and said that the slope was fine and didn’t res-sloping. When I explained the problem, he said that they need cleaned-out. I explained that I had Dan the Gutterman clean them out in October. He said that they just blow-off the debris from leaf guards with a leaf blower and don’t clean them out. He took a section of the leaf guard off and showed me that it was completely full of years of sediment that had accumulated through the leaf guard. He said that he wouldn’t charge me since the gutters didn’t need re-sloping. The Dan the Gutterman website clearly says that they remove ALL debris from the gutters: "Get Your Gutters Thoroughly Cleaned It doesn't take Mother Nature long to deposit all kinds of debris in your gutters. Over time, this can cause clogs which can eventually lead to water damage. Keep your gutters functioning properly with thorough cleaning by Dan The Gutterman. We make sure the debris is completely removed from your gutters and downspouts. On top of that, we'll also haul it all away!" The shields were poorly installed and several hangers were bent during the installation process. We did not install the shields. Our technicians recommended resolving the issue, which would have been an additional $145 to replace the hangers. We have made two additional trips since the complaint has been filed. You will continue to have problems with the gutters until the hangers are replaced. I have attached photos of the clean gutters that were taken on Friday 7/22/22.
