I received a call on 4/19 from what my caller ID showed to be a local convenience store. I answered and someone named ******* introduced himself but did not provide me with his company's name. ******* told me that this call was about home renovation and asked me if I owned my home. I thought this was very weird for the convenience store to ask about, so I asked what company he was with and what state they are registered in, to which he said "Homeowner Relief" and that they are in *****. I began searching the Texas SOS database for that company and could not find it, implying it doesn't exist or is not in **. He then asked if I had any future projects I needed done and began listing improvement areas (windows, A/C, plumbing, etc). I wanted to know more about why this person was illegally "spoofing" a local convenience store's number, potentially giving me a fake company name, and calling a number on the Do Not Call list, so I played along and chose plumbing.

He sent me to his supervisor who said he was "***** with homeownerrelief.com," a site that does not exist. I continued to play along and was told several times that this was "for an improvement not now, but in the future," that it would be for a "free estimate," and to tell whoever he transferred me to that I am "looking for a free estimate." I was ultimately transferred to a local plumbing company called J ******* Plumbing and was told that the "free estimate" required me to pay $50.

I was able to eventually determine that *********************** used 33 Mile Radius to place the call. I emailed 33 Mile and let them know about the issue on 4/25. Their Director of Customer Experience responded letting me know they were looking to see where the call originated and he'd be back in touch. I have not heard back despite a few follow-up emails that I have sent. I believe I have received a few more calls since then as well.
