I won an item and when I went to pick it up, **** the idiot, gave it to someone else. They know who got the item and could contact them to return it, but they are horrible people to deal with. I have seen garage sales run better than this s..tshow!!! They are supposed to confirm items when they leave the building, but same s..tshow different idiots. This is not the first time, but it will be the last!!Capital City Online Auctions, LLC

We are disappointed not only by the situation described but also by the disrespectful and offensive language used in your review. While we are always open to hearing concerns and correcting any errors that may occur, we do not condone or tolerate personal insults or name-calling directed at our staff, who work hard every day to serve hundreds of customers.
If an item was mistakenly handed to the wrong customer, we take that seriously and follow a clear protocol to investigate and address it. However, we must also protect the safety and dignity of our team and fellow bidders during that process.
We acknowledge that auction environments are different from traditional retail experiences and understand its not a format that works for everyone. That said, calling our staff idiots and comparing our operations to a s..tshow is unnecessary, offensive, and not conducive to finding a resolution.
Should you wish to approach this matter in a respectful and constructive manner, our management team remains available to discuss any remaining concerns. Otherwise, we consider the issue closed.Review fromTim H

I have been a customer at ********************** for several years, for the last few years I have had a vendor lisence and have registered my vendor number on the site it always says pending, which means when I buy I am being charged taxes on the items I plan to re sell, the employees at the pick up location claim it's the corporate people not doing their job, I have tried calling e-mailed nothing seems to work, terrible companyCapital City Online Auctions, LLC
Date: 05/06/2025
We would like to clarify that registering a vendor number on your account does not automatically apply tax-exempt status. As outlined in our policies, exemption status is only granted after documentation is reviewed and approved by our corporate office. If your account continued to show pending, that means the exemption was not yet processed.
Any purchases made while your exemption was still under review were done so by your choice. Our staff at pickup locations are not authorized to override tax settings or manually alter account status.
Multiple communication channels are available for vendor inquiries, and it is the responsibility of each bidder to ensure their account is updated and approved before making tax-exempt purchases.Review fromJesse H

We have purchased several items from capital city and have always had a good experience until today. We bid on a tv that was marked as is and we knew we were taking a chance with it but it was cheap so we took the chance. Upon getting there and inspecting the tv we noticed right away that the tv in the box was not the tv that should have been in the box. Note: the product description and pictures both depicted a certain brand and the actual tv was a lesser known brand in the box and it felt like a bait and switch tactic. We went and found the guy in that area the tv was in and he was very understanding and told us they just make sure the tv in the box is the correct size but didn’t bother to make sure it was the correct tv that should have been in the box. Fast forward he signed the paper agreeing to the refund even tho it was marked as is simply because the item description and images we bid on were not what was in the box. So we go back to the widow with the signed paper from the worker and the lady at the window was very nice and said she would be back as she had to get the warehouse manager approval for the refund. She comes back with the signature and out of nowhere the foreign warehouse manager woman comes charging and yelling at me. I was dumbfounded as to what I did. She yelled multiple times this was the one and only time she was allowing a refund. She was extremely rude and I’m still at a loss as to why. They were clearly in the wrong as the item was totally different than the item description and pictures. I was then told by this woman as long as there is a tv the same size in the box it doesn’t matter the brand and the pictures showed that but in this case they didn’t and I believe this is why they issued the refund but she was extremely rude. I just chalk it up to she was having a bad day. Overall we have got some great deals from capital city and will hopefully continue to find some good deals in the future and hopefully not come across the manager.Capital City Online Auctions, LLC

First and foremost, we appreciate your continued business and your thoughtful approach in explaining the situation. After reviewing the incident, we want to acknowledge that you were absolutely correct in expecting a refund under these circumstances.
While the TV was listed AS IS, our policy allows for a refund if the item does not match the description or photos provided in the listing. AS IS items are not refundable due to damage, missing parts, or functionality issues, but they must still match the brand, type, or key identifying details stated. In this case, a different brand entirely was placed in the box, and a refund was indeed warranted.
Additionally, the employee who initially assisted you acted appropriately in approving the refund. Unfortunately, the interaction that followed with the warehouse manager was not in line with how we expect our team to treat customers regardless of the situation. That individual is no longer with the company, and we are actively reinforcing our customer service expectations and policy clarity with all staff.
We value your loyalty and appreciate the many successful experiences youve had with us in the past. You were right to bring this issue to our attention, and were grateful that you did.
We hope to continue earning your trust and providing you with great deals in the future.Review fromBrandon V

Manager does not possess the capability to comprehend simple questions, has a poor attitude with customers, and is overall, a terrible leader. He could not communicate effectively with another adult which interfered with his disappointing bias. This warehouse gave items away to other customers and faulted the buyer for their mistake. Seems that the owner, who inherited the business is running it into the ground. Reached out multiple times to discuss and no response was given regarding incident. Would not recommend that you purchase items through ****. Filled with thieves and broken equipment. The company states on their webpage Capital City Online LLC is focused on providing high-quality service and customer satisfaction - we will do everything we can to meet your expectations but does not live up to their words.Capital City Online Auctions, LLC

We appreciate your feedback; however, we must clarify a few important points regarding your experience. The items in question were sold AS IS, a condition that was clearly stated in the listing and agreed upon when placing a bid. Our auction operates with transparency, and bidders are responsible for reviewing item descriptions and conditions before bidding.
Its unfortunate that you feel your experience was unsatisfactory, but we ask that all bidders approach interactions with our staff respectfully. As seen in your review, a moment of humility and reflection on how you handled the situation may be beneficial. Our team works diligently to assist every customer within the policies that ensure fairness for all bidders.
If you have any specific, constructive concerns that you would like addressed, we encourage you to reach out to us at *************************.Review fromHeather B

Brand new TV my foot!!!Check it before you leave the building to see if it works but theres no outlet or space to unpack it.Voids the warranty if not purchased from an authorized retailer.I wont buy anything from them again.Merry Christmas they stole my money! Thieves! How the heck are they legally allowed to continue doing business like this????!!!!!!!!!!!!Capital City Online Auctions, LLC
Date: 01/29/2025
All bidders agree to our terms before placing a bid, which explicitly state that items must be inspected before leaving the premises. Refunds for items marked "New" are only provided if an issue is identified before removal from the building.
Regarding your concern about testing the TV, we have over 50 outlets available throughout our facility for bidders to use. If you were unable to locate one, our staff or even fellow bidders would have gladly assisted you. We encourage all bidders to take advantage of these resources to verify their items before taking them home.
Additionally, as an auction, we are not an authorized retailer, which is why our terms clearly state that manufacturer warranties may not apply. This is common practice in liquidation and auction settings. Every bidder has the opportunity to review these terms before placing a bid, and accepting them is required to participate.
While we regret that you were not satisfied with your purchase, our policies are in place to ensure fairness and transparency for all bidders. If you have any further questions, you may contact us at *************************.Review fromGreg O

We won a bid on a Nectar Queen ******* 12 inch. $360 plus the fees. We got it home and placed it cut open the plastic. We waited the ***** hours for it to expand. It never expanded to queen size. It was sold as a queen and is actually a FULL size. The tag on the mattress has its a full. After several texts, & an unanswered phone call, they finally answered our text. They will not refund our money because it left the building. How is this our fault, or their fault for that matter?! I really wish I would have checked here (BBB) before purchasing anything from these crooks! They dont have a very good rating on here! My next contact will be my attorney, maybe I cant get any money back but they should be a decent company and at least offer part or all on my money back. My attorney will let me know I guess! Just please buyer BEWARE!!Capital City Online Auctions, LLC

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to your concerns. Our auction operates under clear terms and conditions, which all bidders agree to before placing a bid. These terms explicitly state that all items must be inspected before leaving the premises, and refunds are only issued for items marked "New" if they are found to be different than describedbefore the item is removed from our facility.
In this case, the mattress was sold as "New" and could have been verified at the time of pickup. Once an item has left the building, we are unable to determine its condition, origin, or any potential changes that may have occurred after pickup. This policy is in place to ensure fairness and consistency for all bidders.
Additionally, auction listings, including product descriptions, are provided as a guide based on the manufacturer's information. We do not open or inspect sealed items before sale, which allows us to list and process over ***** items weekly, all starting at $1.00.Review fromChantel R

I dont know why theyre allowed to do business with all of the negative reviews. If I could give zero stars I would. They rip people off daily and hide behind their check before you leave policy however, that is not always feasible when said boxed item thats supposed to be new has several other boxes inside and if you took everything out to make sure its all there you wouldnt be able to get it back in the box do you do a cursory inspection and assume that the person selling the item is honest and that youre indeed getting a new item. But thats not how it works, they sell broken and half complete items knowing that theyre getting paid for junk and youre screwed because you accepted the terms when you signed up for an account. I have won several items on the site and 4 out of 5 times I end up getting junk even though I think its new. A record player new in box didnt even have the belt to turn it so I couldnt even use it. Of course I didnt bring a record with me and try to find a place to plug it in and see if it worked because it said new in box! But its my fault for giving them my money again and again because I guess Im an optimist and cant resist a good deal but I have learned my ****** finally and wont be wasting my time/money anymore. Someone really should put a stop to this shady business. Maybe a few lucky people have a positive experience to share about winning something but I think the majority of buyers have been burned by the crooked sellers and policies they employ. And if you post a negative review they will ban you from the site, hows that for having a clear conscience? If they werent guilty of scamming people they wouldnt retaliate by blocking you.Capital City Online Auctions, LLC

We appreciate the opportunity to clarify our policies and address your concerns. Our auction platform operates with full transparency, and every bidder agrees to our terms and conditions before participating. These terms explicitly state that all items not marked as "New" are sold as-is, and that all bidders must inspect their items before leaving the building. This policy is in place to ensure that any issues can be addressed immediately, preventing misunderstandings after an item has left our facility.
For items marked as "New," we provide refunds if the item is found to be different than described, but this must be verified before the item is removed from the premises. This policy is clearly outlined in the contract bidders agree to before placing a bid, as well as on every invoice at checkout. While we understand that some items may be packaged in multiple boxes, we do not open boxes before selling them. This is how we can list and process over ***** items per week, all starting at $1.00.
Our goal is to provide an efficient and fair auction experience. If an item is missing parts or has an issue, bidders have the option to check it at pickup and address any concerns immediately. If an inspection is not feasible at the time, the bidder assumes responsibility for the item upon leaving.
Regarding claims of blocking negative reviews, we do not retaliate against customers for leaving feedback. However, accounts may be deactivated for violations of our policies, including harassment, threats, or repeated failure to adhere to our terms.
We appreciate your past business and regret that our auction process did not meet your expectations. If you have any further questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out to us directly at ************************* so we can assist you furtherCapital City Online Auctions, LLC

Bad business. They use their as is statement to get away with false advertising. DO NOT expect there description of the item to be true and they will not stand behind it. Some things must be taken out the door to determine if the fit or work. Makes no difference to them what the advertisement says, out the door and no refund. And then you deal with a rude employee like ********. Good luck. Buy new and save some head aches.Capital City Online Auctions, LLC

We regret to hear about your dissatisfaction with your recent experience. However, we must clarify a few points regarding our terms and procedures:
Item Inspection: Bidders are strongly encouraged to thoroughly inspect items before leaving our premises. This ensures that any discrepancies or issues can be addressed immediately by the manager on duty. In this instance, the bidder neglected to check the item before taking it home.
Post-Purchase Claims: After taking the item home, the bidder contacted us, stating it was the wrong model. Unfortunately, we are unable to verify whether the item in question was the one purchased at our auction or an item already in the bidder's possession. This makes it difficult for us to accept a return or issue a refund post-purchase.
Terms and Conditions: Our terms and conditions are clearly laid out and presented to every bidder. These terms are fully disclosed upon logging into our platform, requiring acknowledgment via a checkbox indicating the bidder has read and understood them before proceeding. Additionally, bidders are prompted to confirm their acceptance of these terms again with each bid placed in any auction.
Regarding your comment about our employee, ********, we apologize if any interaction came across as rude. Our staff is trained to handle all customer interactions professionally. We have reviewed the security footage and ******** was professional and did not match your frustration.
We strive to maintain a fair and honest auction environment and stand by our policies to protect both our business and our customers.Review fromMichael D

Box fell in the warehouse and hit my child! I then had the "warehouse manager" yelling and screaming at me that the box he set up was my fault for not being next to my child which I was the whole time! I would like someone in upper management to contact me as this is an extreme OSHA violation for how the boxes are being set up and will be reporting to them as well as my attorneys if this is not handled properly! And suspending my account doesn't seem like the honest thing to do! Please contact me immediately!Capital City Online Auctions, LLC
