My husband took our truck to this shop to get an estimate. Our truck was hit by a state mower, and we needed an estimate for repairs to send in. Asked for Matt who never came and talked to him but was seen walking around talking about other things. After an hour of waiting, finally someone came out and told us that they would not touch our truck. After more time, found that they were looking inside our truck at other estimates we had been given which is honestly none of their business. Regardless of being told that they would not touch the truck, they still gave us an estimate of $3500 for repairs. Was told that they couldn't put on the estimate that they would not touch the truck for insurance. Sounds like a scam. If you can't do the work, don't give me an estimate for work that you won't do. If you can't do the work, put that you can't do the work. By you putting an amount, you are fabricating false information and expect me to give that to my insurance company. So, what happens when my insurance then wants to pay......but you won't do the work. Yea sounds really professional. Went to other shops and got ACCURATE quotes that weren't based off someone else's quote to try to undercut them and got some that clearly ADMITTED that they were not able to do the repairs. This is how you act as a professional. not giving something that is false. walked right out of there with no question of turning back. If you act like this, how am I supposed to trust your work you actually do?

    Carl's Body Shop, Inc. Response

    09/27/2023

In response of review id # 56714 submitted by Carissa F*****. On 9-25-2023 Mr. F***** came to our shop requesting an estimate from the owner Matt M*****. Mr. M***** was assisting other customers at that time. Carl’s Body’s Shop has an office staff to assist customers in this manner. Our estimator Greg B**** assisted Mr. F***** with his estimate. Mr. F***** stated he wanted an estimate for the left side damages,a full vehicle refinish and rust repair to the left bedside. Greg questioned Mr.F***** as to how the rust and full vehicle refinish was related to this loss and received the answer the State of Ohio is going to pay for it so I want all of it completed. At that time Mr. B**** informed Mr. F***** that we would not include the rust repair on the damage estimate nor a full vehicle refinish and would not be interested in the repairs to his vehicle. The estimate provided to the customer is a courtesy estimate only. The vehicle in question appears to have been refinished in a satin black spray “wrap”. Carl’s Body Shop is equipped to repair and refinish small to very heavy collision damages. At Carl’s Body Shop we do not work on or refinish vehicles with spray on vinyl wrap. The customer requests were also one of the determining factors for Carl’s not having interest in the repairs. There are no false damages on our estimate process of repairs but only in the customer requests. If the state claims adjuster or insurance company would like to discuss our estimate we look forward to explaining our repairs and conversation that took place with Mr. F***** to them.To address the accusations of looking at the estimates in the customer’s vehicle we have cameras in the parking lot where the truck was parked and in the office. There was no entry into this vehicle and the camera footage will clearly show no vehicle entry. Our estimator tried to take vin # pictures for the estimate and checked to see if the door trim tag was accessible and the door was locked. Mr. F***** was requested to get his vin# and did so for the estimate process. At no point and time did Greg request to see any other shop estimates. Mr. F***** was upset that our estimator would not add damages to the estimate that our estimator felt were not relevant to the loss. Clearly it is the vehicle owner’s responsibility to provide honest damage/estimate requests when submitting insurance or civil damage claims. Hopefully the “ACCURATE” quotes as stated in the BBB review the shops were provided with correct loss facts.Interestingly enough the person who submitted the BBB customer review was not even present at the time of the Carl’s Body Shop estimate.
