This is an amendment to my wife's (***** *) comments dated 22 Feb. ***** took a lot of shortcuts doing this job and now just two months later I'm having to replace the door. First, he told us he got it from a warehouse he was a member of. The door he installed is an "Ideal Door" manufactured right here in **** by ******* and is sold exclusively by *******. They are not a membership Warehouse. He mixed parts from my old door with parts from the new door and they are not close. My old door was a single layer with styrofoam panels put in. The new door is a double layered steel door with windows and is a lot heavier than the old door. He didn't weigh the door with using the torsion springs to insure correct torsion.. About a week later we noticed the door was starting to buckle when we went to close it. He came over to look at it and made a point to tell us he was only doing this as a curosity to us. Not even thinking about warranting his work. What he did do was swap around a few brackets and he stated he was doing us a big solid by putting on a steel strut. For those who don't know what the strut is, it is the bar that goes across the top of the door from side to side to prevent buckling. He says it's all good. About two weeks later I went to close the door and it buckled so bad it ripped one of the rollers out of the track bent the crap out of the door and shattered two windows. We called ***** and he said it was not his fault and he would not fix it for free. He said it was our fault. He told my wife he would come over and look at at 9pm. I said no that was to late so he told her he would be over at 10am the next day. He didn't show and my wife called him and he said he would be over at 3pm. No show. Wife called him again and he said he was over at 1pm and no was home. He knows better because the garage door was open and me and my brother were working in the living room right next to the front door.
