Thru wall air conditioner installed 08 21 2021. It was to fit in the existing hole. We paid 2380.00 to Butler. They kept putting insulation in but this was never going to fix the problem. We still have a 3+ inch hole in the side of our house. I also think they should pay for half of the cost for us to properly fix this problem. They could of done it right but chose to just rig it up.Just to let you know we are 82 and 83 years old. This has been a difficult problem for us.

I live in Houston Tx and get a call from my sister who lives alone in Dayton Oh that one of the AC units was not functioning and she called Butler Heating & Airconditioning who originally installed the unit 8 years ago. Having retired from the Military with an air-conditioning certification I still know a bit about how they work. I asked my sister to facetime with me and let me observe the unit. After going outside the condenser fan was spinning and compressor was running but cool air was coming out of the condenser. Butler Heating and Airconditioning (BHA) technician was very polite however, he replaced the start-up capacitor and the TXV value that were both under warranty. It was obvious to me that he was replacing warranty parts just to run up $250 and hour cost. After replacing those parts, the technician decided to replace the compressor. At that time, my wife and I packed up and drove 20 straight hours to Dayton, Oh on Sunday 6/21/24 before the technician showed up on Tuesday with the compressor. I performed an electrical verification of the entire system and check the resistance of the existing compressor windings, and they were balls on based on the industry specifications. BHA would not provide an itemized list of services being provided, when asked he stated, “We don’t do that”. He quoted $1893.00 as a starting place and never indicated what the actual issue was based on the amount quoted. I called the manager at butler and discussed my dissatisfaction with their service and my sister was not going to pay them a dime for the replacement of warranty parts at $250 an hour and not fix the unit and BHA and I agreed to part ways. Totally unsatisfactory and the reason many companies like BHA get a bad reputation for taking advantage of single or divorced women with children. We got the job done for less than $600, most of the cost was freon. I had more to write but couldn't get it all in. Horrible Company. Strongly recommend NOT using this company.

Teresa has been a great customer for over 20 years. Just like any other customer, she's never been taken advantage of. It is unfortunate that Teresa's compressor failed on an 8 year old air conditioner. Anything could have caused that, even a power outage. Because we register the equipment we install with the manufacturer, the cost of the TXV and compressor were covered under warranty. Refrigerant, unfortunately, is not covered by any manufacturer warranty, and refrigerant is not cheap. We use new refrigerant on a new compressor, and never reuse the old refrigerant to save cost. The old refrigerant is burnt, just like the compressor, and compromised. It's also typical that residual refrigerant is left in the coil which is why we clean the refrigerant system with dry nitrogen and install a suction drier for a year. We also replace the filter drier so that anything in the refrigerant system that could be compromised is replaced. These additional steps do add cost, but any trained professional with HVAC industry experience will confirm that this is the RIGHT way to perform a compressor replacement. We've had a great reputation for 75 years because we do things the right way. Our reputation has never been the cheap company that cuts corners to save money. We feel good about that.
