On Feb 14th, Melton Plumbing erroneously installed a water tank in our home without properly connecting the gas lines. On Feb 15th we had a major gas leak that would have ended in us dying had it not been caught as we were lying down for bed. I have tried to get a resolution and refund from the company but they do not respond. I will attach the email thread with them. This is unacceptable. They (*******/****) also listed on the phone numerous things that were not completed by the first technician but once I heard back they said they could only offer me $50. This entire situation has been a complete nightmare. 2000 characters isn't enough so please refer to the email thread I am attaching as a file. I feel like we deserve our money back from this company for the danger they put us in and their utter lack of care or concern. As you can see my last two emails went unanswered as I never again heard from ******* when I realized that's who I had been previously talking to. I am rejecting this response because:Your response addresses nothing in my complaint. Your negligence almost took the lives of my family and you have accepted no responsibility nor have you followed up at all to my calls or emails. Multiple line items on the invoice were confirmed verbally on speakerphone to have not been completed, along with 2+ days of no hot water, and being terrified our home was going to kill us. We deserve compensation for this situation and all that you have put us through with your poor work.

Do not use this company! $20,000 to have a tree removed and my sewer pipe replaced. To begin with the plumbers took the tree down instead of outsourcing to a tree company, they dropped 2 large branches on the roof of my garage damaged the roof, knocked off shingles, destroyed the gutters on both sides. They did repair the damage 2 months later! Then when they stated digging the yard they dug in the wrong spot, had to redig 4 feet over. Installed white pvp pipes. The inspector had to come out 3 times because they used the wrong pipes. They left the clean out pipe stick up in the yard and my yard is a muddy mess, uneven, a crater when the ground sunk in. They claim they returned the ground to rough grade but I have contacted landscapers who have told me this is not rough grade and Melton Plumbing is responsible for filling the whole in my yard and evening out the terrain.Business Response

1. We did exactky what the cintract called for ... a rough grade
2. We repaired the damage to the roof before leaving your property
3. Charles and the office spoke to you everytime you contacted the office .. your last call took 3 days because I was on Spring Break
4. We have iffered to retorn once the ground is dry and spread top soil if you buy the top soil ... we offered this in addition to the ontracted work ..again we did exactly what your contract required

Called to my home at 5340 Gander Drive for garbage disposal not working by American Hone Shield. Claimed there were chicken bones in it that he couldn’t get out and wanted to replace the entire thing for like $600 yet could not produce any sign of chicken bones considering I don’t buy chicken with a bone in it.Business Response

My warranty company sent a tech (Joe) from Melton Plumbing and he literally just turned a knob on my water heater and was in my house for 5 minutes, and I paid him the required $100 service fee in CASH as he stated they don't take card. He then pocketed that and reported that I still had not paid it, and also reported that something still needed replaced WITHOUT TELLING ME and reported how much that "cost" to my warranty company, so now my dollar limit for repairs is maxed out WITHOUT ANY REPAIRS TO IT.Business Response

*** Melton Plumbing was recommended by our home insurance American Home Shields for replacing our Water Heater. Our deductible was suppose to be $2290/- On November 4th *** Melton came and replaced the water heater, they asked for a check in the amount of $3150/- which we paid and he left with the check. Water heater never worked to heat the water, we kept waiting for the water to get heated in no vain. We tried to contact *** Melton multiple times thereafter and had appointments scheduled couple of time which they canceled due to some reason or the other stating they are very busy and never showed up. I contacted the American Home Shield and informed them about what happened and they said they will contact the TM plumbing and ask them to take care of our issue, which has not happened yet. We had to hire other plumber pay him to get the water heater running, which has been working for the last couple of days! We want *** Melton to contact us and refund the amount $3150 - 2290 = $860/ plus the amount we paid to the other plumber $ 200/-Initial Complaint

This company is contracted with my home warranty company. They came out to fix a toilet. After they left, the toilet was continually running. I contacted them to come back out and they said to go through my warranty comapny. My warranty company scheduled for them to come and it was a no show from them. I called again and they were rescheduled for the following week and even sent texts. They did not show again. I called last week to the warranty company ( I cannot reach them via telephone and no one returns calls). warranty company said their truck broke down and they couldn’t reach them to reschedule the appointment. I called Cinch to reach them again and Melton said they were coming Thursday. again, a no call no show. I also plan to file a claim against Cinch.Business Response

Back in June, I had a leaky spigot and contacted my home warranty company. They dispatched ****** Plumbing. The plumber came out and replaced a piece and then told me I needed to replace the whole piece due to frozen pipes and then quoted me the price of $595. I refused service and contacted my plumber. The work was completed $350. My plumber mentioned the pipes did NOT freeze, and the piece he replaced he put in wrong which caused more leakage. I have pictures and video of him explaining as well as the bib, which is no way or shape expanded. The warranty company reimbursed me for my deductible and after speaking with *** ******, he mentioned he's not sure why this happened, after viewing the video, determined no the pipes weren't frozen and the price they charge is $495. *** mentioned that he would reimburse me the money I spent to get me back to 0 (by the Wednesday after the holiday 9/4) but as of today 9/13/24 I still have not received the money that is due. It seems this has happened numerous of times to others according to their reviews. I am looking for *** ****** of ****** Plumbing to reimburse me $225, as he mentioned he would for their faulty assessment.Business Response

The response from the business is not true. They never asked for the reciept and when they did I sent it over. They NOW don't want to pay because I filed a complaint with BBB. They have the receipt and what they asked for. Yes I did state that legal action would be taken because no one was responding even after *** ****** stated he would pay. This company should NEVER be used for anything and need to be shut down due to all the complaints they receive regarding thr same thing. They unpcharge significantly and do not communicate. My home warranty company sent Melton plumbing to my house to diagnose the water heater. Well correction we did a video call bc he's 2.5 hrs away from my house. The issue here is u can't really do a proper inspection over the phone. He quoted me an additional 1800 worth of work needed to be done but said could take off 500. (That just shows how much profit he worked into the numbers). He instructed the warranty company to order a tall tank so he could do alot of unnecessary work and upcharge me to make a profit. I had a second company come out and said if a short tank was provided then it be a direct swap. I told the second contractor about the upcharges for code upbringing and he said in my area those items aren't required. The only thing that is required by code is a drip leg on the gas supply line. To bad he never quoted that. I will say he was gonna pull a permit. A permit that cost 75 dollars but was gonna charge me 150 for the permit.Business Response

The warranty company asked that we.take your call and offer you the option of STREAMING a video survey tbrough your phone to get the survey done
This is actually a superior system to an in home visit in that every detail is recorded video and audio. Stream Urvey is owned and lu ensed to plumbers by FRONTDOOR. (Publicaly traded company )
Your heater is a short ... but consideting the plumbing manipulations that someone completed ( head plumber viewed tbe video) to make that short heater work we stand by the recomendation for a standard unit
That dies nit cost you ine penny more ! That simply makes a better job
We see issues with the bends and turns and pipe size That exist on your current unit as " lesser qualuty work"
We are state licsensed plumbers and do all work to the state code. Your job requires far more code work than the dirt leg you
You are correct that we charge 150 dollars for permiting and inspection While tbe permit is usually around 75 dollars to buy.
As a business we strive to charge more than we spend so that we can pay our staff to install high quality work. If we did not mark up items.we could not employ the quality people we employ!
We.PAY the person who.orders the permit, we pay the person who orders the inspections and of course we pay for special insurance and bonds etc for the legal ability to purchase the permit. ALL these costs (and yes some profit ) are reflected in the cost we quoted.
I would alao.point outbwe pay the people who answer the phones and tbe person who DOES STREAM SURVEYS so tjat we can offer faster service !
As you expiereanced we have a highly trained office staff that is equiped with state of the art tools
One major issue with warranty work is many times clients expwct that warranty means free and when a better contract is purchased it often does mean free
You have a standard contract that covers the water heater and disposal of the old unit

AHS Warranty service call, tech showed up in a sub-compact car. Looked at our compaint of leaking washing machine drain. Cut out 29" x9" of drywall and said had to remove more wall to be able to do the fix. Borrowed a broom to clean up as none with him in his small car. Removal of more drywall not part of warranty claim so had to do non covered costs estimate. Got the quote from AHS for $950 to remove wall and remove washing machine. Melton agreed to do it for $650. Showed up 2 days later and wanted do know how to be paid before getting started. I said credit card but that was extra $25 charge so said check but do not accept checks so said cash. Asked if I had it and said had to go to bank, concerned about that so said had the cash. Tech arrived at 8:55 and cut another 9" of drywall out and said that was enough. Did not touch the washing machine. He said there were possibly 2 leaks and needed to go get the parts. Left at 9:15 to get parts and back at 9:45. Fixed the 2 areas with parts and ran some water into the drain from the washing machine fill hose. No leak. At 10:10 gave me the invoice for $650 which I said no way as he did not remove the wall or the washing machine. Called office to complain and was told I agreed to it so pay it. I did so. Ran the washing machine that night and it leaked all over the place.; Tech came back out and determined there was a blockage in drain pipe. Only had small snake with him run by a hand drill. Could not make the bend to unclog. Said he would come back another day with the proper snake. New dispatch #. I told AHS I did not want them back so sent another company that did the unclog in about 20 minutes. I think Melton should not have charged me $650 for another 9" of drywall removal. AHS says I have to resolve with Melton so I am writting this complaint as no one ever answers a phone call. The test after it was supposedly fixed was not adequate to reveal it was not fixed.
