When I made appointment, told them issue that locksmith loaded info of car into computer. All that was needed was to load key security info into computer This is known as the skim unit. They said no problem and said it would cost 149 dollars to do that. I said ok, I took car to dealers and waited. Car was parked outside where I could see it. They came and told me they could'nt do it I said what can I do buy a new skim unit. They said yes that would work. Then when parts guy looked it up said discontinued can't get.so they did nothing and were very confused I said where are my keys and they told me I had to pay bill. So I had to pay bill to get keys and paid for them to tell me they couldn't do anything. Rip off.

Customer came in with a used PCM and win module upon his arrival he kept saying that the skim module needed to be reprogramed to the correct vehicle Vin number. We explained to the customer that the price for programed or even attempting to program any modules is 149.95 plus tax.  Customer informed me that he purchased vehicle knowing that this was a problem that was causing lights to be on dash and he was trying to correct that. The customer then went to vehicle and replaced the PCM with the one he wanted us to try to program vehicle would then not start so naturally we would not move the vehicle due to the PCM not being programed to the vehicle.  Tech took his tools needed which all are thru WIFI laptop and programing pod and  tried to program PCM and found it cannot be rewritten. At that time the tech took it further to see what was causing the vehicle not to start and found the vehicle has no skim module but could see after performing testing that the win module is what has failed and needs replaced. We then went to parts to see if a win module was available that is when we found it was a discontinued part.  We explained to the customer all that the only way the current PCM would start vehicle is to replace the win module and since it wasn't available anymore we could not correct the no start concern.  Customer then paid the invoice and switched the PCM back to get the vehicle to start so he could continue driving it.  We were up front on all the charges and tried to help in every way we could.

We did not tell the customer that it was not the correct WIN module we told him that the one he has already had another VN number in it so it cannot be over written due to security of the vehicle.  We then offered to get price and availability for a new WIN module so that it could be programed but the customer was disappointed because we were not able to get the part anymore due to the age of the vehicle of the vehicle.  At no point did we lie to the customer in any way we were upfront with him letting him know that the WIN module would have to be new and we were not able to get one for him.  Our tech spent extra time trying to help customer in every way.  Customer was aware of the charges before he brought in  vehicle I have attached the copy of the pre-work the customer signed agreeing to pay the 149.95 for the work.

I am rejecting this response because:
They should have known they couldn't re- program. If they would have told meat the beginning they couldn't do it I would be fine, but they told me they could. They should know, this can't be the only car they have worked on. They also said a locksmith couldn't program computer , well he did. I have receipt.****** in bowling Green was going to do it but I had work done at fremont before and they were knowledgeable. The locksmith said he could do it but he didn't have device with him. This article shows how. Bottom line they should have known if skim unitcould be programmed or not. They are obviously not trained properly and I shouldn't be required to pay for training them. End of discussion.sincerely. ripped of senior citizen.
      Sincerely,
