    My dentist referred Northeast Oral & Maxillofacial (Gahanna,OH) for an extraction. I checked my insurance company's site (******* ******) and found Northeast WAS part of my plan. I called Northeast (9/12/22) to request an appt. w/surgeon listed as "participating" (*** ******* *********. I was told he "was not available but another surgeon at practice had availability". I verified my insurance was accepted & made appt.

    Extraction was done (9/14/23) & I paid contracted ******* amount ($142.50). I was told if my insurance required additional pymt, I'd get a bill. No bill was sent after my procedure, so I assumed service was covered as I'd been told. 5+ months later (Feb. 23), I rec'd bill for an additional $238.90. I checked my claim only to see service was billed "out of network".

    I called Northeast & was told that they no longer accepted my insurance (& actually discontinued/stopped accepting ******* in Aug. 23 (month BEFORE I made my appt & before I confirmed - over phone when scheduling & in person at time of procedure).

    I liked the surgeon ( ******* ****** ****)* had no issue with the service he provided, but clearly do not like the deceptive billing tactics used by Northeast. When I called to ask about the bill I received in Feb. 23, I was told that the surgeon I originally tried to schedule with - *** ******* ******** - had "left the practice years prior" to my scheduling my appt!

    I was given incorrect information by Northeast that my dental coverage WAS accepted at time of scheduling and when paying at time of appt. After appealing to my ins co. & copying Northeast, ******* paid an addt'l $169. I rec'd letter from Northeast stating I would have been told Dr. ******** was no longer at Northeast. I was told he was "not available" - not no longer there.

    I would NOT have went to Northeast had I been given correct info when I scheduled. I realize Northeast isn't responsible for ******* ****** info, but they are responsible to give correct practice information.

    Northeast Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the time of service provision had Dr. ***** and Dr. ****** as providers. Dr. ******** had left the practice since 2017.  We are aware of your grievance and are willing to write off the amount owed. We will write off $69.90 and your account is clear.
