The job that Ohio State Waterproofing was far from quality, aside from leaving two and a half to three hours early each day, they killed a decent amount of grass in my front yard, and left some holes from the buckets of quick dry cement mix that turned into cement due to rain, which they left in my yard the whole 5 days they were there, after the job, the part of my driveway by the house that they dug up started to sink, not settle, flat out sink, to which they said when I called “oh that’s normal”, until a supervisor came out to look at it, and he even said “ok yea that shouldn’t be down that far”, the company had to come back out a few days later to “redo” the outside, which consisted of just using a steel stamper to flatten the area out and they used gravel from my driveway to fill the whole that was in my flower bed, Mike the manager called me to hear my concerns with the job, and I asked about a discount or reimbursement of some kind, to which he laughed out loud and said “yea, that’s not going to happen”, in the end, I’m repairing my grass and holes in the yard because I own a small landscape business and I don’t trust them to fix it properly, and the company is cutting me a check for the materials, which is $260, doesn’t feel like they truly care about their customers, not to mention how urgent the manager needed me to contact the bank to pay them, a supervisor had to come out and “supervise” me calling the bank to make sure it got done. All this to be said, I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone, they’ve already had 14 complaints in the last 12 months, overall not a good experience.

May ****************************************************************** my floor ducts. I was charged and paid in full paid approx. $20.000 in Sept 23 the problem persisted. I reported this to them and a technician came out and made arrangement to return to rectify it in January 24. However, we subsequently, around Dec 24 discovered that the problem of water in the ducts were caused by issue with plumbing ( the waste pipe under ground was clog and rotted). The plumbing issue was address and that resolved the problem which cost approx $6000. I then contacted Ohio State Waterproofing explained my findings and requested a fair and reasonable financial redress. The individual I spoke with requested that I send a detailed invoice assessment to him which I did. After much back and forth communication no resolves. It came down to their Counsel ************* me to say that his Client does not agree to a full refund ($19,990) which I eventually requested after being put through much frustration, However, the last responds as of April 24 from Ohio State Waterproofing Representative was that his client would agree to a much smaller amount in good faith. I ask that he disclose what was the good faith amount and the written feedback I received was $2000. This is the unfair situation Im facing with this company, I appreciate you assistance. Thank you.

      06/13/2024

I am rejecting this response because:
I requested a full refund.  I was charged approx. $20.000 for the job.  I also paid an additional approx $6000 to fix the problem (plumbing). The good faith offer of $2000 does not compensate.  $2000 is not a fair and reasonable financial redress.

Contract signed 11/13/2023, work done on 12/04/2023. Nothing stated to us to was true. My basement was totally destroyed by these people. We were told there would be no mess left behind and everything would be just like it was when they arrived. Nothing could be further from the truth. It took me a month to clean the cement dust, the laundry floor and main floor were so scraped and destroyed they had to be totally redone, all of the walls were scraped and gouged having to be redone. The outside of my house is a mess, they even tore down a brick retaining wall that shouldn't even been touched. I was able to scrape and repaint the laundry but the main floor was done in epoxy and I am having to have carpet installed to keep down the expense. The carpet estimator states they have seen a lot of bad jobs by this company but mine is the worst. Two reclining chairs were broken by them that had to be hauled away.

      Customer response

      03/23/2024

There were two Lazy Boy recliners in the family room, they were old but both were broken and I had to have them hauled away. I do not have a receipt for the haullng, that was a cost of $275.00. Since the chairs were older I can only put a price of $200. each.

I also do not have the receipt or cost for the new carpet installation as they just did the measurements and do not have the final cost. The floor was done in epoxy and to try to redo the epoxy is a daunting expense, therefore the chose of carpet is the only reasonable thing to do cost wise. I should have the receipt within a week to 10 days.

I also do not have any estimates for the exterior due to the weather conditions. New mulch will have to be brought in and the retaining wall will have to be remortered.

Paid 17,000 cash for basement waterproofing within the last 3 years. In the beginning of February we contacted OSW that our basement leaked. We had to tear up the carpet, as it was all wet. The company said they would be out February 26, 2024. Came out and said they had to take out a portion of their work. On March 12,2024, the. Repair was done and it was established that the two channels were not connected to drain out properly!! I have paid the $75.00 dollar warranty fee required each year. When questioned if they are replacing the carpet, I was told they don’t do that!! I said, “Do you not guarantee your work?” Yes only work. But wait….I had my basement ?? waterproofed with a guarantee my basement would not take on water!!!! I am very mad ??. Why should I not expect them to cover all damages??? Am expecting a call form owner. If not I expect the Attorney General to handle this matter. If not I will file a lawsuit.

      03/18/2024

I am rejecting this response because:  I do not understand why this service  has to come to my house.  What he has to say could/ should be done in writing.  After reading the multitude of complaints to the BBB,  I see this ok a as an intimidation ploy.  The fact that they are just going to debate me and state that they only guarantee their work and product upsets me.  I was told I will have a dry basement-as stated on the front page of their own Handbook!  It is shameful how businesses manipulate the very words and promises they made.  I will meet with the service manager but I do not see a promising outcome.  Hopefully OSW will show some integrity.  I also thought the BBB would advocate more by being involved more in this mediation than just writing the company on my behalf.  I expressed that on my own with then supervisor that came out to my house.  I asked for a phone call from the owner.

Did the owner call me - No!!!!!

      Customer response

      03/28/2024

I am rejecting this response because:
Due to the fact that OSW has acknowledged they are responsible for the situation,  we feel their retribution should reflect payment for the damages in full.  The fact that OSW has placed a stipulation that we show a receipt for replacement of the carpet, of which, we may or may not due, is further irrelevant to this case and our decision to make.  I want full payment of the carpet with no stipulations.  As a result of this case, the integrity of OSW has been compromised.

In April of 2023, I signed a contract with Ohio state waterproofing for my crawl space. This included their multi-step system: both an interior and exterior waterproofing system and sump pump. In late fall after the job was complete, I noticed that some abandoned pipe pentrations in the foundation wall were leaking, so I made a maintenence call. The maintenence workers came out January 23rd, 2024. They dug up the exterior where the pipes were located and discovered that there was absolutely no new exterior pipe, tar or plastic. They dug down to the footing to confirm this. During the initial install, I went out about once an hour watched as they dug the hole. I saw all the material for the job sitting in my front yard. Yet the supervisor lied to my face about the work that was performed. While the company seems willing to fix the issue, my trust in their company is completely compromised. I still don't know if it is only one wall that was missed or if nothing on the exterior of the house was done. The company can only provide incomplete photos the interior system. Even if they fix the issue, I don't know if I can trust the quality of their work. It's also a great inconvenience to have my yard dug up again. I will also have to take off work because they apparently need a babysitter. I hired a trusted and reputable company and spent a 5 digit sum. I didn't pay to be lied to and scammed.

I am rejecting this response because: Even if you have a supervisor on site and fix the issue, your company has betrayed my trust. Said supervisor didn't even have the decency to call me to notify me that I was scheduled or to report why the job wasn't done right in the first place. I had to call them. I also demand a billing adjustment based on how much they find wasn't done the first time. I'm not paying full price for a job that has to be done twice. I'm getting legal representation and have no problem taking you to court over it.

On 10/25/23 salesman ***** ***** from Ohio State Waterproofing came to my house for water collecting at the bottom of the basement steps. ***** proceeded to tell me I needed repairs, sum total of which was 24,390 (25,390 if I didn't let them know I wanted the repairs within about 48 hours). This was intentionally not enough time to seek a second opinion. Mold concerns raised and its effect spurred me into signing a contract to schedule the repairs. I signed up for the on call service, and on December 5th I received a call stating they could start the work the next day and that they'd be done by Friday. I took the time off of work last minute so I could be home if they needed my assistance in any capacity, and the morning of the 6th, they called me to inform me they wouldn't be able to make it till the 7th. The crew did manage to finish the job in two days, however during the process broke my sewer main and had to repair it. Waited the weekend in hopes the water would stop and it did not. Water was still collecting in the same place. The next week, they sent another crew to dig yet another finger drain right next to the area collecting water. Still did not solve the problem. Yesterday, yet ANOTHER crew came out, I gave them permission to remove part of a finished wall to continue the dura shield across a 5-6 inch section as they believed that was the issue. This morning I woke up to more water. Tore a hole in my drywall to find a leaky plumbing fitting, which was the root cause THE ENTIRE TIME. I called Ohio State on Dec 16th, starting at 9 (an hour after their posted hours) till noon and received no answer, nor a call back after leaving a message. Had to call an emergency plumber to come fix the problem as I had to shut the house water off to stop the spray, costing an additional 400 dollars. I am not looking for a refund in full, as the work was done, however I do want reimbursed for the plumber, and a portion of my bill reduced as this repair was extraneous.

We did finally make contact yesterday and arranged a meeting, but I have no voice mails between mid December and the one they left yesterday, so perhaps they called the wrong number initially. We will be meeting next week, on the 16th after 5 p.m. to discuss further.

Ohio State Waterproofing came out in 2009 to install the waterproofing system. Over the years the basement system was maintained by OSW and it worked but the basement still had a musty oder. We were assured that the system was working. Then in 2023 on July 20th, there was a very strong mold smell coming from the basement. We called out OSW and they could not point out the issue. The smell got worst over the following week and we called out **** on Aug 2nd to investigate. **** found mold in the basement and had found that OSW had not capped the drainage channel they installed and over the years it had cut a hole in the slab, which was now leaking water. **** removed all of the molded flooring and walls reducing the basement back to studs. OSW has stated that they will finish the installation in DEC of 2023. We are looking for the remediation of the cost to clean up the mold and restoration of the basement to predamaged state that their faulty installation caused.

The agreement date was 3/10/23 to proceed with the waterproofing work. A down payment of $2000 was given to secure the job. On the day of the job another $5440.00 was given to start that was paid in cash and at the completion of the job, the final payment of $5440.00 was paid. Right from the very beginning I had multiple leaks after the completion of the work. The cracks running down the outside walls were not sealed as agreed in the contract. The job ******* left the job to take the cash down to ********* where their shop is, leaving the crew of workers UNSUPERVISED. I contacted Ohio State Waterproofing to schedule a follow up to correct the problems, which took two months. A second crew came.sometime at the end of May/beginning of June to dig up and repair the mistakes the first crew made. I still had more leaks still, and now my basement was filling up with methane Gas from what was under the concrete and it was coming out through the crock from the french drains they installed. During this time, I had at least two to three more people come out to go over what needed to be done to correct the methane gas smell and once again, repair the ongoing leaks in the foundation. Round three: A crew showed up unannounced to dig. This time they did better job but after not having rain for several weeks, when it did rain I still had water coming in on my knee wall. I contacted them about the continued leaks and they had a guy come out to repair it from the inside, which didn't work. {Note: when they dug up the outside to get to the water/electric line coming from the well, they were able to expose the line to be sealed, but it was the end of the day and come morning, the hole was full of water. They pumped it out, tried to patch the wet pipe and lines not giving it proper time to dry out, and then concreted it and covered the hole up to no avail.) Now my basement walls are discoloring. I seal-coated them which shows me that water is slowing making it's way through.

I am rejecting this response because: They did call me yesterday and asked if they could set up a meeting to sit down and talk.  I told them there is no purpose in meeting again as we have had several meetings previously which did not resolve the leaking in my basement.  I told the lady who called me that I would take $10,000 to close the case for the last 9 months of disruption in my home or otherwise they would hear from my attorney to sue them for the whole amount that I paid for the waterproofing, plus attorney fees.  My basement still leaks after their numerous attempts to correct it.

Signed contract with ohio state waterproofing on May 5 2022 Work began in Nov. 1, 2022 and complete on Nov 4, 2022 Total of $25,160 was paid for all work The contract states they are to waterproof the interior walls with durashield and a channel drain to new sump. Apply fibrated mastic (waterproofing) to exterior walls, and apply heavy duty plastic to mastic. Install new sub soil drain tile packed in river bed gravel. Apply protective waterproofing membrane and layer of visqueen. Seal any cracks in exterior walls. They were also contracted to encapsulate 300 square feet of crawl space. The nature of dispute is 1) refusing to encapsulate crawl space. 2) no exterior waterproofing materials used. 3) no river bed gravel around new drain tile. 4) water still entering basement. 5) first time the company returned to address basement leak post-install, caused driveway to flood and created a sink hole in corner of basement wall. (Structure integrity concern) 6) still have cracks in the walls. 7) found new holes in walls behind durashield. (Hammer hit) They have come out two times. First time, they put in a new durashield panel and caulked leaking nail heads, ran gutter downspout across sidewalk. Second fix was to fill in more dirt into the sink hole. They have agreed to come out a third time, to address leaking in basement and fix the cracks in exterior. In regards to crawlspace that has not been done they offered to payout $1200 or exchange the work of burying the downspout drain that they placed across the sidewalk into he driveway. Both of these options, in regards to the crawlspace, do not seem to compensate appropriately for the crawlspace work. PO# ******
