      I visited the Dermatology Group - Hyde Park location to meet Dr. D*** on April 7, 2021. As part of my visit, I was asking for an evaluation and biopsy. When Dr. D*** entered, he immediately disregarded any of my initial asks, flippantly gave me answers to my questions, and was just going to "treat me" even though I never asked for treatment. I literally had to tell Dr. D*** to stop and that I wanted the biopsy. Dr. D*** emphasized they can run a biopsy, but said that his visual diagnosis is enough. I told him I needed to ensure the biopsy results provided proof. He took a miniscule sample of my skin and said it will be sent off to an external lab. Lab results didn't come back for almost a month. When they did, I was very grateful because they provided an accurate diagnosis. Dr. D*** went over those results with me, even though he was still very much using scare tactics on the diagnosis and he said what I had was "cancerous" enough though it was not. I was treated by another dermatologist because while I waited on results, I wanted a second opinion just in case and the other dermatologist was much friendlier. Weeks later, I received THREE BILLS from the Dermatology Group - 1) for the initial office visit and "surgery" [literally the most miniscule removal of skin with a scalpel], 2) for the lab work to be mailed out, and 3) for Dr. D*** to review the results once they arrived. The first bill, I totally get, but the second two bills were unacceptable. The results specifically mentioned the diagnosis. To have a doctor read them and be billed for it was unnecessary. To have their lab send the results out wasn't something I should even be responsible for being billed. Might as well of just charged me postage, but instead it's charging a lab visit when I wasn't even reviewed by their lab...they don't even have the equipment! The total for those bills was close to $1000. My insurance reduced the bills down to the contractible amount and I paid each one. (For reference, that other dermatologist billed me ONCE...just once!!) Then 4 months after that initial visit, I received a random bill in the mail from ******** Health Care for $1500 for lab work. ******** Health Care is not covered under my insurance, but the Dermatology Group is. The Dermatology Group never indicated that my insurance would not be covered by ******** Health Care for the lab work, and just went ahead and submitted it. I've tried to work with Janie T****** the office manager, to help reduce the *** bill amount given it was the Dermatology Group who submitted the lab work to **** Janie had also made it clear that the Dermatology Group does not check coverage across the labs they use, which means as long as they get paid, they do not care about the patient. I gave Janie two weeks to reach out to ******** Health Care and tried to reach back out twice for an update, but she has avoided my phone calls and voicemails. I do not recommend going to the Dermatology Group. They will find every little thing to bill you for and their main doctor is one of the rudest I have ever experienced in my years of visiting dermatologists.
