            My family & I checked into super 8 hotel in Mount Vernon around midnight last Saturday night. Two minutes after we checked in, my son & I saw a bug crawling up the wall. I informed my wife so she could grab me something to kill it with and at the same time she and my daughter saw another bug on the other side of the room. My wife informed me that the bugs that we saw were bed bugs , so we immediately grabbed our stuff and proceeded to check out. The owner **** was there when we checked in. A staff member checked us in though. I went out the back door with the kids while my wife took the room key card back to the front desk. The room was approximately $108 with a retainer of around $20 for our 2 dogs. Which the owner told us he wouldn’t refund. We did request a refund and the owner told us he would send the money back to my wife’s card in the morning. That was Sunday morning July 10th. However as of yesterday the money still has not been refunded. I might add that my wife is a Certified Nurse Practitioner and is qualified to tell what a bed bug is. We should’ve taken pictures. But I have seen other complaints of bedbugs in random hotels around Mount Vernon. The only reason we tried to stay there is because we were trying to remodel our bathroom and had no toilet in our house at the time. But we did leave the premises no longer than 10 minutes after we got there.

            This business is basically a crack house. Rooms are unsanitary and run down. This place is a black eye on a wonderful community, people are getting charged good money to stay in rooms that are filthy and run down that smell like smoke and have trash in the hallways and steps. I have stayed at Super 8 hotels before and I dont expect anything other than a bed,shower,TV and a CLEAN room. This stay was horrible, my first room was dirty but not gross and I was just happy to get to it after a 6 hour drive to Mt. Vernon for my brothers funeral. After returning later that night I discovered the heater wasnt working so I went to the front desk to ask for another room. The girl at the desk was polite and found me another room, so after packing up all our things and going to another room I discovered this room had heat but was even dirtier than the last one. The chair in my room was soiled and stained with who knows what and the smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling and then upon checking out the bathroom, you could tell the toilet wasnt cleaned and the shower barely worked. At this point it was midnight and we were exhausted from a long and stressful day and just fell asleep with our clothes on on top of the bed. If this is the only choice you have in this town go to another town and stay somewhere else or sleep in your car!
