My mother was diagnosed in March 2024 with colon cancer. We were told that it was very aggressive and if we wanted to move her to do it "sooner rather than later". We currently lived in ********, but my mom had lived in **** for over 75 years, so we quickly moved her back to **** so she could be close to family and friends for the remainder of her life. She was placed by Fairhope Hospice in Altercare of Thornville. My husband and I moved back to ********* and my brother who lives in ********, OR moved back as well so we could all spend my mom's remaining months with her. She couldn't walk, so my brother and I would have to lift her, move her to her wheelchair and take her to the restroom. Every now and then she would try to get out of bed by herself, forgetting that she couldn't, but that made her a fall risk. Knowing this, we begged for a month for some kind of restraint or alarm so that it would help us keep her safe. She had broken her right femur 3 1/2 years previously and it was her worst nightmare to have it happen again. We were told that it was "against Ohio law for them to use any kind of restraint". We subsequently found out this was not true. On Saturday, May 25th, just over a month since she was admitted, my mom was found on the bathroom floor by the nurse, with two broken legs, both knees and her left femur, her leg misshapen. They picked her up and somehow got her to a recliner where she sat in horrific pain. My stepmother is the one who found her there. The nurse was in the hallway acting like nothing had happened, just working on other people's meds. She hadn't called for a squad, x-rays or even for permission to give my mom morphine. Altercare moved her over and over, causing Mom to pass out from the pain.My brothers and I took her to the hospital than evening. She died less than two days later. We were cheated of time with her and she was cheated out of the time to spend with her children and family.

My father was admitted for rehab and only after 1 week he was discharged. On the first day after being discharged he had to be admitted to the emergency room and has to go to another rehab facility. Altercare released him too soon stating he was able to walk 100 feet. When he returned home, he wasn't able to walk or stand. I called to complain to the Dean of Nursing who wasn't available for comment. The RN Terry stated he had a small callus on the bottom of his foot however the callus is huge causing an opened wound. These people don't care about the residents and especially African American Veterans. Please advise what can be done to rectify this problem for all residents regardless of who they are!

I worked for this company and while I worked there it was fine I liked it a lot. When I left it all changed. Im a nurse and went to a** needed status to where I didnt qualify for insurance anymore and that was fine I got it with my current job. I kept up on my company training and we would get pay for it. Well the last 2 times I would get payed they took out insurance and this was after I no longer qualified for it. The first time the changed it and gave me what I was owed but this time they have not and they have not reached out to talk to me. At one point I was told that they didnt have anything to take out money from so they used insurance and I told them that I didnt have it and hand had it since the previous November which was 9 months ago. I also stated that they changed it before they needed to fix it again. I was told someone would call from corporate to talk to me but never got a call. I was polite and wanted to stay in good rapport and yes its not too much money but its still my money and all I want is what Im owed.
