My experience started back in April of 2020 when we adopted our first rescue, Myles, an American Bully. Two days after we got Myles, we discovered he had kennel cough. We were told when we first went to see him that “he has the cutest little sneezes ever” when really it was kennel cough and they are not supposed to adopt out when this is the case. Our next encounter with the Rescue was in July of 2022 when we saw an American Bully posted under the name of Helga who was stood up by a family who was supposed to meet her. We were told she was good with other animals and kids so we thought she was the perfect match for our family that had Myles as well as small children. When we went to do the meet and greet with our other American Bully, she had abrasions/open wounds on her face that they claimed was from another dog who attacked her. They told us she was such a good dog, that she didn’t even fight back. Fast forward to three weeks in when Helga attacked Myles unprovoked. Helga had to be physically pried off of Myles neck because she was latched on so hard to his neck and would not let go. Helga was picked up off the ground in an attempt to have her grip be released from his neck and she continued to bite onto his neck and Myles was lifted off the ground as well. A few days later, she attacked him again and that is when I called the Rescue to inform them of both attacks on our other dog. The worker said she was sorry and to bring her back. I received a phone call from the owner yelling at me because I did not have them separated at all times, although we did have separate kennels, feeding stations, and let out outside separately. The owner also told me that the worker who adopted Helga to us told her that Myles and Helga would not be a good match because they had two completely different personalities. We in fact were never told this and the worker had told us exactly what was put in the original post of her about being good with dogs and kids.
