Description: Constituent states they hired Brown's Roofing 2 years ago in July to replace gutters and put in a system to prevent leaf buildup. She advised the screen in the gutter was half way down in the gutter and not preventing the buildup of leaves. She states the gutters are not wide enough and they have already made arrangements to have the gutters replaced. They paid $4400.00

Browns Roofing does not use screens in our gutters, we use Leaf Relief gutter guards. Is it possible this person has us confused with someone else?  If this customer has a problem with work we did all they have to do is give us a call Mon - Fri 9AM to 5PM and we will set them up with an appointment to take a look at the gutters. ###-###-####

I am rejecting this response because: We are not confused. We had the gutters installed in July of 2020. We had been working with the owner. He came out and said there was nothing he could do.

After putting up with this for two years we had new gutters installed by **** ****** in August. **** ****** said the gutters were too small and our roof had extended over the gutters preventing water from even going into the gutters. Water may have gone in some places, but not most places. We had water in our basement due to the improperly installed gutters. Since the new gutters were installed, our basement is dry.

Therefore, we are requesting a full refund of $4400 as the original gutters were improperly installed and did not work.

    Regards,

    **** ******

The gutters on this house were standard residential 5" seamless gutters. This is the same size gutter that had been on this house previously. When we gave this customer an estimate, we priced 5" and the larger commercial 6" seamless gutters, the customer selected 5". Building code in the state of Ohio allows for 5" or 6". The customer makes the decision as to which size is used. The 6" is considerably larger and cost more than the 5", as a result most residential customers select the 5".

These gutters were installed correctly. The customer states the roofing on this home extended past the gutters, if in fact that is true that would indicate a roof problem not a gutter problem. Roof shingles are to extend 1" past the roof edge so as to properly put the water into the gutter. At no time prior to this complaint did this customer call Browns Roofing to express the concerns in this complaint. If they had called, we would have sent someone to their home to take a look at their concerns. At no time did the owner or anyone else from Browns Roofing tell this customer there was nothing that could be done about any type of problem.

Bottom line is Browns Roofing was never notified of these alleged problems and never given an opportunity to address any possible problem. Also, I would note the warranty on these gutters expired over 15 months ago. Browns Roofing will not issue any type of refund. However, if the customer has a problem with the roof, we will be happy to take a look at it.
