I applied for a personal loan online of the amount of $3000 dollars. The man that called me and said that I have been accepted for my loan was Dominic Spencers. A couple emails later he said that in order to verify that they were sending my loan amount to the right account, he would have to deposit a small amount in my bank account and I would have to send it back to him - then said the funds for my loan would appear 45 minutes later. I thought this was normal as I had never been through a loan process or taken out a loan before. The next day $700 had been posted to my account, and I also provided him with my bank login information. When I changed my password (for my protection) he became rude and asked that I provide him with the new user and password. I thought this was weird. Then proceeded to say that cash app was down and I would have to go to the nearest store and pick up a cash voucher to send to him. This is when I saw a red flag. I googled the company and it is not very well known online and from what I could find the same was happening to other people. I immediately went to the nearest branch of my bank and informed me that it was a scam, a fake mobile deposit check, and that their plan was most likely to get the money from the fake check and then not engage with me again. They instructed me to report them to the Better Business Bureau and possibly the nearest police department. I am grateful I caught the situation early, but I wanted to prevent others from becoming victims of this company.
