  In November 2022, BBB contacted The Purazon Company regarding advertising claims for WolfsHead Beardye.
  
  Its website states "If you've tried Just for Men© or similar products with harsh chemicals, sooner or later you've experienced unpleasant side effects such as redness, itching, scaling and even open sores.  If that worked for you, fine, But for many men the result was a nasty, itchy allergic rash which went on for days or even weeks. Not pretty. 
  And no wonder. Read the label and you'll see a rogue's gallery of harsh chemicals like ammonia and coal tar derivatives. Applying it is like spraying Windex on your face--certainly not something you would ever consider doing.  
  Unlike Just for Men©, WolfsHead Beardye is free of harsh, allergy-causing chemicals." 
  
  The BBB Code of Advertising states that the primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers must not deceptively or falsely disparage a competitor or competing products or services in their advertising. Truthful comparisons using factual information may help consumers make informed buying decisions, provided that all comparisons that claim or imply, unqualifiedly, superiority to competitive products or services are not based on a selected or limited list of characteristics in which the advertiser excels while ignoring those in which the competitor excels; the advertisement clearly and conspicuously discloses any material or significant limitations of the comparison; and the advertiser can substantiate all claims made.
