Moved from **** to ********Told my household goods would arrive before Thanksgiving, held on site in ****** for 22 Days. Belongings showed up damaged, multiple items missing. Many items destroyed. They offered $33.00 in damages. Damaged: Bench, decorative bird, golf cart, clothes rack, metal outdoor table.Destroyed: 7 ************* Bar Cabinet, Glassware, silverware trays.Stolen: Brand New Table Tray, 13 Waterproof Totes, Toaster, Pressure Cooker, Glass Storage containers.Items were dumped into large wardrobe boxes from the new waterproof totes. Tape on boxes cut and obvious all boxes were gone through. New totes were not delivered but all old non waterproof were delivered even if damaged. I expect some damage but this was uncalled for and theft of goods shameful.Packed securely then gone through and thrown around.

Customer filed a claim with our office after the unload for tv trays and a wooded statue.   I was the one in contact with her the entire process.  She never spoke anything about all these issues when we talked.  There was 2 totes that broke and we had to repack those items for her ( no additional charge).  We never went through her items in any way.  We never guarantee delivery dates to customers for interstate moves.  **** says in contract could take up to 30 days depending on move.  I still haven't seen any pictures of damaged items.  The pictures she provided show no damages that she is stating we did, She also has never forwarded me any such damages.

We Moved this customer to ******* from ****, never spoke about guaranteed delivery dates. She was aware we had to pick up another job and deliver it before hers in ********  Its stated on the contracted which she read and signed up to 21 Business days for the delivery.  We never opened any of her boxes, A few totes she had broke ( they were the real thin ones and they were over packed) so we had to re box those few totes into boxes which we didn't charge her for.  After the move was completed she reached out and told me a tray table was damaged and she couldn't find a wooden bird.  Once I received the claim I settled it based on the .60 cents per pound per article coverage she accepted.  She did not pay for the full value policy (I have signed copies if needed).  This is the first time I'm hearing about this list of items damaged.  She can email me pictures of the items damaged and I can evaluate them and let her know.

    Thanks

I moved back in August, from ******** to ********. Glass City did an estimate over the phone with me, for a full pack and move. Their estimate was wildly under, which they acted like was totally my fault. I have moved before with professional movers and never had such an issue. On moving day, they didn't bring nearly enough boxes--I had to find more boxes for them. I asked for them to pack because I thought it would be safer for fragile items. They shoved things into boxes with no care whatsoever. I had a hand-painted china plate--a priceless heirloom made by a great aunt. I found it broken in many pieces, shoved in a box with no padding along with a garbage can and books. The movers were obviously having a labor dispute with management, and I felt bad for them, but they flat out refused to take a bunch of stuff because they needed to "save room" on the truck for another load and their manager was telling them to "just leave it." At 3:30pm, 2 of the 3 workers just declared themselves "off the clock" and went and sat in the truck, while management yelled over the phone at the remaining guy for taking too long and at me for having too much stuff. I had to make a whole separate trip back with a van to retrieve the stuff I had paid professional movers to move. I was certainly willing to pay the cost of the move, I just expected my stuff to get to my new home intact.I ended up in tears repeatedly from people yelling at me, blaming me for the underestimate, and just telling me that they weren't going to finish the job when they were about 2/3 done. They didn't warn me they couldn't enter attics or basements--it was apparently in the "fine print." It's definitely possible that I answered their estimating questions incorrectly, but I told her repeatedly that I wasn't sure because I don't really know how to estimate, and she kept telling me that if there was more stuff the price would go up per pound but that it wouldn't be a problem. It was a huge problem.

We arrived at this customers home on 8/7/23.  When we arrived we noticed that she had additional boxes to pack and move.  When she scheduled the move with our office she stated that she needed packed 3 mattress bags, 15 small boxes, 20 medium boxes 5 dishpacks 5 large boxes 1 wardrobe.  We provided her a revised estimate explaining the additional items to be moved and packed, also with the revised costs. After she signed the new estimate we started to work, when we were all done we ended up packing 25 small 31 medium 24 large 6 xlarge mattress bags and mirror boxes.  In the beginning we gave her an option we can just honor the original estimate or we can do all the additional work as well.  she chose the additional work.  She never called our office with any complaints about the move or my employees so I was kinda shocked I received this complaint.  As far as not moving into basements or attics, we do not move items into attics because most homes attics are not boarded and safe to walk up.  The basement comment I not sure where that came from because we never stated that. The only reason her price went up was because the additional work the customer wanted us to do.  We would of honored the original contract if that was the work we were doing.  We never blind sided her with any prices it was all explained to her before we moved anything.

I am rejecting this response because:

I was not upset about the increased price. I was upset that they refused to take all of my items, and that I had to make a separate trip to ******** after paying professional movers. I told the person on the phone that I had no idea how to estimate the needed boxes, and she assured me it would be no problem to increase. So it was a horrible experience to then be told that they just wouldnt take my stuff because the rest of the truck was reserved for someone else.

I was also upset that they did a horrible job of packingno labels, no padding, etc. Ive been spending months trying to find things because everything ended up in the wrong rooms and I had no idea what was in any box.

I felt bad for the workers who were obviously being yelled at over the phone, so I was still just going to let it go until I opened another miscellaneous box this week and found sentimental items shattered because they had been thrown in with no padding or wrapping whatsoever. That is completely unacceptable. There is no excuse for throwing glass and china into a box without wrapping them at all.

I dont care about the moneybut people should know not to trust this company with any items they care about.

Our office was never contacted about any issues with the move.  This is the first time we are hearing about this,  If there was issues with your move file a claim on our website and submit the photos so we can address the situation.  If there was additional items left at the home why wasn't our office called?  We have trucks going to ******** multiple times a week, we could've arranged for them to be picked up. I guess what ** saying is we never got a chance to address this before this BBB Complaint

Let me begin by saying that I have relocated 14 times but I have never had the problems that I have had with this company. The company packed me up 4/3/23 with multiple issues including not having enough room on the truck and leaving a lot of personal properly on the curb. They delivered my furniture on 9/5/23. They damaged the floors, walls and broke the bedroom window of a luxury home, stole high end watches and a surround sound system, broke 2 TV’s, just to name a few, broke my grandfather clock, put deep scratches (1/8” to 1/4") on my shrunk (a wall unit from Germany), one couch was muddy and the other one was wet, threw over 20 expensive suits in a box which all have to be dry cleaned and steamed now, for those who know the importance of hats to the Kentucky Derby, they destroyed my wife’s hats and even after helping them unload the truck, they still didn’t put everything in the house, they opted to distract me by signing papers and sneaking off before I could return outside! The damage to my home alone is in the thousands, not to mention all of the things they lost (stole) and damaged but yet they offered me $700 to cover the costs of everything. The bedroom window will cost over a thousand to replace! This company doesn’t care about your belongings, they’re just out for personal gain and looking to make a quick buck.

When we arrived in Monroeville Pa for the pack and load, we noticed there were additional items that customer wanted us to take that weren't on the original estimate.  We informed them That those items would be an additional charge and we would have to send another truck to finish the job.  If we would've be informed before arriving we could've planned accordingly and have another truck arrive at the same time.  When we loaded the first 2 trucks and were at the last tear customer was picking and choosing what they wanted us to load.  When the trucks were loading to max there was a few items Ms **** had my employees put to the curb what they didn't want.  We would never place a customers items to the curb with out them telling us to do so. So I'm confused on why they would book the second move with us to pick up the remaining items if we did such a horrible job at the original pick up?  The evaluation chosen for the move was the .60 cents per pound not the full value coverage that they would've had to paid extra for.  The window being broken has nothing to do with us, there was other people in the house at the same time as us.  I spoke with my employees and non of them broke it.  As far as leaving the home before the job was completed that is false.  We moved items around in there home multiple time to make Ms **** happy while she talked down to my employee the whole entire day.  I had employees that HAVE WORKED FOR ME FOR 10+ YeARS WANTING TO WALK OFF THE JOB BECAUSE THEY WERE BEING DISRESPECTED BY THE ****'S. I offered them a settlement for the items that were damaged and also $250 additional for good faith.  We sent over a release to be signed and they refused.  They then started to post bad reviews all over social media that are false

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
Their response is absolutely false! **** informed me that the window brake alarm went off during the move it was not until after they left, that I found out that the bedroom window was broken. During the time that they were in the home, there was nobody else at the house. Previously, the house was used as an office for the builder, and we are listed as as being the official buyers of the house that was built.  When they were contacted for the move, I sent the previous load list from my previous relocation and I was informed that they thought they could handle the move with two or three trucks however, they only sent two trucks. They assured me that they would be able to handle the move, so I drove back to Kentucky only to find out the next day that they were setting stuff at the curb because they had no room for it on the truck. When I called dispatch, they informed me that the only thing they had to do was request another truck, which is what we did, but in the meantime Things that were on the curb were taken. At no time did we ever disrespect them? It was the other way around, especially for the move to Kentucky. The workers slammed things on the floor and pushed things which put deep gouges in the floor and was extremely rude to my wife. Also, their statement about leaving things on the side of the house is Paul’s. Also it wasn’t until after I finished signing the paperwork that I noticed that they just put things outside the garage and took off. Like I said, I helped for at least two hours bringing things off the truck because they were not doing it. They were even complaining about their staff being on their phones all the time. And the only reason I scheduled another truck with them is because they had already previously moved everything. Otherwise I would not have done it.
    Sincerely,

    ***** ****

On August 14, 2023 Glass City Movers out of Toledo, Ohio (assigned by Interstate Movers) moved my furniture from ********* ** to ******* **. The very next day, we found that an expensive lamp (worth $449.95) was not included in the boxes delivered. That day I sent an email reporting the missing item to Glass City Movers reporting the item missing. One of the employees had offered to pack the lamp for free as a "favor" and did so using pillows from the bed. He walked out of the apartment with it, apparently to put it in the truck but it was never seen again. The information given to me said I had to wait a month for a reply, so I waited. There was no reply.

Customer filed a claim with us about a missing lamp, We pulled the paperwork and seen we didn't pack a lamp and it wasn't on our inventory list.  Customer was informed we denied the claim because we have no record of the lamp being in our possession. If the lamp was on the inventory list she didn't purchase the full value coverage, She accepted the free .60 per pound valuation.

I am rejecting this response.  This company hides behind the small print.  No chance was given to go over the options ahead of time and I signed after they started moving my furniture. They started wrapping and moving so quickly that I didn't see the paperwork until halfway through the move. Before the move I was told the list was an estimate.  If they have an employee who offers to wrap an expensive lamp and add it to the cost later, then the box disappears with him and the company doesn't acknowledge this, they are harboring a thief.

The paperwork and the deposit is signed and collected before we start the move.  That statement that we didn't provide paperwork to sign or explain everything to the customer is false.  The customer esigns the contract to accept the move.  Everything is stated in the contract before the truck arrives.

    Complaint: ********

I am requesting a reimbursement for the partial value of the lamp in the amount of $200.

To clarify, I hired Interstate Moving and spoke with them on the phone at which time they told me that I could estimate the number of boxes I packed, then the movers would pack more boxes the day of the move.  I found out the day of the move that the name of the company was Glass City (on the side of the truck) and not Interstate. I was living on the second floor, and the  maintenance manager was at the front door of the apartment building for security the day of the move.  That day, the three movers were packing and moving boxes so that I had no way to count boxes as they took them to the truck and no one told me they were finished.  One guy, who self identified as a contractor who worked as needed, finally came back to the apartment and asked if I wanted him to pack the lamp for $2.50.  I said yes,  so he packed it and took it out of the apartment.  When no one came back I stepped to the door and noticed that he came from the fire escape instead of the steps on the way back.  I asked him if everything was ok, he mumbled something, then went down the elevator to the main apartment door in a hurry.  In effect, in my opinion he was avoiding the front apartment door security. His car was parked near the fire exit.

The day after the move, on Tue, Aug 15, 2023,  I received a call from Interstate moving, asking how the move went.  I told them that a lamp was missing from the boxes and they provided me with a link to the claim process for missing items.  I then wrote the follow email to [email protected] with the required documentation.
“I am submitting a claim for one missing article during a move from ******** ** to ****** ** on 08/14/2023.
I have attached a photo of the brass lamp in my bedroom before the move and a screenshot of that lamp from where I purchased it online to establish it’s value.  Also in the attachment are copies of the inventory list and bill of laden.
The carrier team Included three workers: two arrived in the moving truck which was parked in the front of the apartment building and the third drove separately in a personal car and parked at the corner of the building adjacent to an emergency exit.
As part of the agreement, the workers were packing additional boxes. They then immediately removed them. Therefore, there was no way for me to determine a total box count in the moment. The third worker offered to pack my lamp and I haven’t seen that box since.”

I waited the required month according to the claim process and after receiving no reply from Glass City, I contacted BBB.

I don't believe Glass City is taking responsibility for a contractor, which is how he described himself to me.

    Sincerely,

    ***** *******

On 11/17/21, I signed a lease for controlled storage unit with, Glass City Movers, LLC. HUGE MISTAKE. My property was removed from the unit to my new residence on 03/10/23. Upon arrival and the unloading of my property, I discovered a signifiant amount of my furniture had been damanged. Several expensive wooden tables were damanged by what appeared small animals. Various areas were completely chewed off. The wooden legs on my couch was significantly damanged. In addition to the furniture damage, there was animal droppings throughout boxes of my clothing, purses, shoes, decorative items. My belts and a array of electronic cords were chewed and had to be thrown away due the damange. My furniture was unable to be repaired. Several of my painting were slightly torn and non-repairable. Prior to contacting the BBB, I've made several attempts to rwsolve this with **** ********* with no success. He offered a insulting settlement of $250.00 which is not remotely close to all the damage which occurred. I entrusted this company to secure and take care of my items. I rented a climate controlled unit and was reassured my property would be safe. That was not the case. I found a rats nest located in a box of my pictures. This is completely unacceptable and a insulting offer. I requesting a significant portion of my money is returned, so I can attempt to replace some of my losses, which may be difficult as they were unique pieces. The account/ tracking number is my phone number; ***-***-****. I'm hopeful this matter can be resolved with your assistance. I look forward to hearing from you soon with a resolution with this company. I will never use them again. Respectfully, Ms. ******* ******

The customers items were delivered out of storage 3/2023.. Customer stated after delivery there were a few items damaged during the move.  On march 30 2023 I processed the claim and emailed it over to the customer, The valuation that was chosen for the move was .60 cents per pound per article not full value,  I also added $150.00 on top of the claim for good faith.  Customer replied on 3/31/2023 that she was not satisfied with the claim.  She has never reached back out to our office to settle claim.

Main reason for complaint: Glass City Movers is refusing to compensate us for having to use another mover to move our ~400 pound bar hutch when we paid Glass City to complete this task. In addition, they damaged a $400 vanity and an irreplaceable art piece that they are trying to just pay us $0.60/lb rather than the cost to replace the items and/or a reasonable % of the cost to replace the items. Move Out Day: "Our movers were absolutely PHENOMENAL. The admin ****** completely dropped the ball. Admins claimed they forgot it was Easter weekend when they literally mentioned it being Easter weekend when we scheduled the move, and told us while the movers were loading the truck that they would not be able to deliver our items the next day (Saturday) as promised. They will not be bringing our items from Ohio to Pennsylvania until TUESDAY and they wouldn't move our pickup date even though they were the ones that have caused this problem,. We took off work for this move and now we are completely out of luck." Move-In Day: "We are now moved in and the move-in was poor as well. Different movers too which made no sense. **** complained from start to finish, but the new guy (****) had a great 'yes and' attitude. Unfortunately, two important items were damaged ($700) that they are trying to refund us $100 for... Also, they failed to move the heaviest item (~400 lbs.) because they waited to move it until after 8 hours of moving everything else... The item was accessible from the beginning of the drop-off. As a result, we had to hire another moving company for $300 to move the item. It took them 5-10 minutes to complete the task and they didn't complain, grunt, scream or do anything overdramatic. Glass City Movers is refusing to pay for this when they really could've moved it themselves had they planned better and are making excuse after excuse as to why they weren't comfortable with moving it."

We arrived at their home and they had more items then what was listed. I told them we would just charge them the original amount. The amount of the additional items would have been an additional $1500. They had a bar upstairs they wanted moved and we told them we weren't comfortable moving that piece. We told them they would need to sign a release of reliability in order for us to move it. They wouldn't sign it so we wouldn't move it.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

The company is lying. They couldn’t move it because they were tired and waited until moving everything else when they could have moved it as the first item. I have photos to prove that they could have moved the item first. Also, WE DID NOT SIGN THIS RELEASE FORM BECAUSE THEY TOLD US NOT TO AND IT WAS CLEAR THEY WEREN’T GOING TO TRY AND MOVE IT UP THE STAIRS AGAIN. They knew how much I wanted that 300-400lb martini bar hutch moved to the correct location, which they knew was the case BEFORE THEY EVEN LEFT OUR PREVIOUS HOUSE. These two dumbies tried to convince me, a professional interior designer, that the martini bar would look nice on the main floor, as if they somehow have any idea how to properly design, curate, and decorate a space. GTFOH. They just wanted to get out and move on to the next project. There were no extra items. It’s a move across state lines. ****** the admin failed on many fronts during this process. She cared more about whether we had a kitchen mixer (which we do not have) than making sure we knew about boxing expectations. The moving company knew they were not going to move us in on the promised date and did not tell us until they took half of our stuff and pack it in on the truck when what they could’ve done is come back two days later when they actually were going to move all our stuff and begin driving to our new house and let us pack the other items the way they wanted us to, though we did not know was an expectation. We did not know there was an expectation  to waste 30 cardboard boxes to individually pack wall art pieces. What a joke of a moving company. We accepted the initial discount BECAUSE of the complete and utter fail they had with scheduling a move and being prepared with a month’s notice NOT BECAUSE of damaged items or failure to move the martini where it needed to go. The discount was presented to us PRIOR to leaving OH to move to our new house in PA. These are two separate issues. With or without this terrible discount, we paid them to move EVERYTHING to where they needed to go NOT have myself help them move items all day to get the job done or have to hire another company for $300 to move something that they could’ve moved but didn’t want to move. Who is going to pay me for doing their job? Absolutely ridiculous. 1000% reject their piss of an explanation.

    Sincerely,

    ***** *********-*****

In November of 2021 I paid Glass City Movers a deposit of $1458 to lock in a moving rate to move contents of my home in KY up to a home I bought in MI. Tried for over a year to sell my KY house but KY but it did not sell so I decided not to move and sold the MI house instead. Notified Glass City Movers that I was no longer moving and did not need their services and requested a full refund of my deposit that they have been holding for over a year. They are refusing to refund my deposit

This customer had a move scheduled 12/6-10/2021.  He informed us on 12/3/21 that he had to push his dates back, we informed him that this was within our 7 day cancelation policy.  The truck was already dispatched out heading to his home.   We also told customer we will honor the deposit if they want to reschedule the move.  The customer rescheduled the move 2 other times and cancelled those dates as well.  I have attached the e-signed contract that shows the cancellation policy.

I have attached the contract showing the cancellation policy

If any additional items, packing services or labor services are added or required at the origin or destination then you may be charged for those items and services. Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: We did not have a move scheduled in December 2021.  In December 2021 our ******** home was not even on the market and we made no plans to move up to ******** in the winter.  Glass City Movers must have us confused with some other client they had.  There was no truck or movers scheduled by us for any time in December 2021.  I have asked Glass City Movers for proof of their claim and they have not produced any documents.  The only actual scheduled move we had planned was for the week of October the 9th of 2022 and we notified them on October 1st that we would not be moving then.  That was greater than 8 days notice and well within the contract stipulation.  Glass City has been holding my deposit for about a tear and a half earning interest on the money and does not want to return the money.  I cannot help the fact that my home did not sell so I no longer need their services.

    Sincerely,

    ***** *******

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: We did not schedule a hard move date in December 2021.  The dates were estimated in order to obtain a quote.   I never authorized any actual dates in December 2021.

    Sincerely,

    ***** *******

My husband and I hired Glass City Movers for our move from Cleveland, OH to ************* **. We were told by our agent, ******, from Glass City Movers that it will "typically take 3 - 4 days, maximum 7 days" for our items to be transported to Philadelphia from day of pick-up. We are now on day 7 since our items have been picked up (6/15) and have been told that our things will arrive between 6/25 - 6/27. We have been sitting in our empty apartment since 6/18. Since our things have been picked up, we have received very sparse communication from Glass City Movers. We call every morning to obtain a status on our moving truck and whether it has left/where it currently is on its journey and the standard answer we receive is that they are "not quite sure". We were told yesterday (6/21) that the truck left that AM. However, we have an old laptop in the truck that's location is still in Toledo, OH. Not to mention, when we expressed frustration with ****** about the delivery delay (we were told by ****** 3 - 4 days, max 7 days for a move to ** via phone call on Thursday, June 2nd), she accused my husband of "twisting her words" and me of "confusing Glass City Movers with other moving companies". We are rightfully very frustrated with the extreme lack of transparency and communication from this company, not to mention the delay. Finally, prior to booking Glass City Movers, my husband and I had some questions regarding some of the language in the contract that we wanted clarification on, we were told that "that contract is 20 years old" and "needs to be updated". A business like this should really have an updated contract. To resolve this, we want all our items delivered unbroken either on or prior to June 27th. We are not available to receive the items after that date.

    Business Response

The business informed BBB the the consumer's items have been delivered.  The job was a small one and the consumer contracted for only a portion of the truck.  Two other loads had to be picked up prior to the truck heading to the East Coast.  The business was in communication with the consumer the entire time.  The business considers that matter resolved.
