I took my truck to Toyota of Warren to be serviced due to my transmission sticking and shifting late. On 4/2/2024 I received a call from the service department stating that they found the problem; it was caused by a leaking gasket and leaking transmission pan. With parts and labor this cost me exactly $1,198.41 to get fixed. I picked my truck up on 4/2/2024 and by 4/8/2024 my truck had the same issues present themselves. I called the service center and took it back only to get a call a day later stating that I need a new transmission or used transmission which through them would be between $6,293.29 to $7,084.66. Don't forget to tack in the $1,198.41 I had already spent for the supposed fix in the first place. I go back to get my truck and held a discussion with a gentleman by the name *********************. *** had offered to give me what I had already spent ($1,198.41) off if I were to get a new transmission through their service center. Here exactly is where the unethical business practice comes into play. At no point was it mentioned that my money could be refunded as the work done clearly was not the correct fix for the problem, rather *** opted to go for the "in for a ***** in for a pound" practice that I learned about through various ethics courses and my career. By not completing the fix correctly in the first place the service center can ensure that I will be back, when I come back they then give me the news that they likely knew all along (unless they are unable to properly diagnose a vehicle while servicing) I will need to have an expensive repair done. By offering money off of the transmission given their initial repairs were not the correct they make themselves seem like the best option to go to for a transmission replacement. You might say to yourself "well at least I get $1,000 off here" which is exactly what they are hoping for.
