i have purchased a vehicle through chris nickel in january 2023. I was told that I would recieve my title within a couple of weeks no later than a month of purchasing the vehicle. I had flew into the dealership and drove the vehicle back home to where I reside in the state of **. I waited for the title but had yet received it. So I called in and spoke with the sales manager. He told me he apologizes but he will send me a temporary sticker till i recieve the title . I agreed . I recieved a ***** a week or two later but it was a tumbler and some cookies. I called in and explained what i received and they told me that they can send me a paper title . I told them the state of il does not allow a copy of the title to register the vehicle. Me calling in about the issue of the breakdown turbo and diesel converter along with title did not do any justice . Because everytime i called in they kept giving me the run around. It has now been almost 2 years without a title for this vehicle . I had sent them a request for my downpayment money do to it being illegal for them to obtain. But they have ignored me just like ignoring my request for my title. They have put me in danger to accruse fees and fines from the state of il due to me not being able to register my vehicle without a title and sold me a vehicle that broke within a 2months with a big expense. I would like my downpayment back due to the issue.Business Response

Customer had bought a used car from us back in 01/20/2023 and put down a $9500 down payment towards the purchase. Customer flew in from ******** to pick up used car and signed all the necessary documents to purchase the car. Customer then stated that we never sent her title work for her to go and get her title transferred into her name. But we have a signed ***************** Certified Mail receipt signed by customer at the address she provided on 02/07/2023.
Sounds like customer lost the title paperwork and stated she was going through some hard times to my manager and didn't realize that we don't pay for the state of Illinois taxes and registration, that is the responsibility of the consumer when they purchase out of state, not the dealership. Now she is also claiming issues with the car and wants a refund of her $9500 down payment (which that money goes to the lien holder, truth in lending purpose, not the dealership) which we can't provide because that is the banks interest now. All of this doesn't add us and seems misleading, we think she doesn't have the money to pay for her taxes and registration with the State of Illinois due to the "hard times" she was going through and is looking for someone else to pay her way, whereas she needs to take some accountability! On the lost title issue, we had to file for a duplicate title for her in 11/2024, almost 2 years later, which we just ******* overnight to her and she signed for on11/15/2024 at 10:51 AM.
The dealership has went out our way to accommodate and educate her in everyway we can, this case is closed on our end.

I am rejecting this response because: At this point the dealership is lying. I had no hard times going on nor is this my first rodeo of having a vehicle. Prior before I purchased this car I had a ****** panamera damaged due to flood accident. Which I paid for my title and any additional applicable tax for that and every additional car thats in my driveway. I reached out countless times to ask for a title and was given the run around and was told they could only send a copy . I explained to the manager what I received via ***** which was a tumblr and cookies nothing more nothing less. For the fact they are stating I was having hard times was a stretch given the fact I dropped 9500 and then 8k to fix a problem of the vehicle that they were aware about 2 1/2 months later is quite hilarious . Im not a person to be of false pretense and it seems like this dealership when run me thru the mud even with a trash car thats they sold to me. I simply would like my down payment back because its been almost two years that I have reached out to them as well as *********** and that its a shame that I had to report them to the cfpb in order to get the title that was just mailed to me literally Monday. I havent been able to drive the vehicle like that because I dont want to get in trouble with the state for an unregistered vehicle as well as get fines from the police. Its upsetting that instead of doing the right thing Chris Nikel chooses to run a customer through the mud when its been me who has been literally begging for my title to get it registered. Whoever is replying to this should be ashamed. To state someone who is broke who flew in same day to buy and drive said vehicle back. To call numerous times to get a title to get it registered for possible est amount of 2000 is crazy only to put 8k into the car after having it for 2 1/2 months is insane.Initial Complaint

I purchased a Jeep Renegade from Chris Nikel OCT 2nd, and when I asked about the maintenance that had been done to the vehicle, to make sure it was in working order they assured me everything was fine. My husband took the Jeep to ****** Tires on the 29th after noticing it was not driving well, and the steering wheel had to be held at an angle to drive straight, and noticing while parked that the front passenger tire was angled IN towards the body. They informed him that there is a leaking strut, so that tire is not able to be aligned properly until that's fixed. I feel the dealership sold me a defective DANGEROUS vehicle, as this is now becoming scary when on the highway. I have gone to the dealership TWICE and shown them the report and they've blown me off. I wasn't able to afford the warranty, but this should NEVER have been sold like this, especially not disclosed at time of purchase to let me know it's dangerous. My family and my KIDS ride in this, and now we don't feel safe. I call the dealership and just get ignored now. This is not acceptable behavior, nor any way to treat customers. I want them to fix my strut, an align my vehicle. Make it safe for road travel, the Tires were mostly balled as well, and I already had a blow out on the drivers side with how bad they were.. AGAIN NOT DISCLOSED! The rear tires are terrible as well. I feel they took advantage of me during the process and the fact my husband wasn't able to be there, they pushed me through everything and made lots of flowery promises but now they don't care, they just wanted the sale.Business Response

I purchased a new vehicle from this dealership on April 21, when speaking with ****** at this location she promised that I would have a check or a wire transfer when I picked up the new vehicle for the vehicle I was trading in when I arrive there Mr. ********* said that's not how it works and he would give me the check as soon as he received the title. The title was sent to Chris Nikel on April 24, ********* called my father on April 27 and told him to check would be mailed out that day when we had not received the check by May 3 my father called and spoke with *** and he said there was confusion on the way the sale was entered needed his drivers license photo and promised the check would be sent out by May 4 or fifth and would let him know when it was in the mail. On May 6 we had just not heard anything or received the check I communicated with Mr. ***** and he said we would have it by May 19, said he never said that we would have it previously, calling my father and I both liars. I attempted to reach both Chris Nichol and Dallas Nichol, Chris Nikel said he is no longer involved with the business and we need to speak with his son, multiple phone calls and emails to him have received no return.Business Response
