02/13/2023 was the date of the call for correction.Summit utilities sent me my gas bills for 2 home locations, ******************************************************* and *****************************************************************. After receiving bills for both house ***********************. $228.92 and **** ******* $55.60 they sent me an extra bill with a shorter meter read period for 30% more on Timber court and 40% more on *******. They are insisting they read the meter incorrectly on 1/24 for the original bills. The new bills are $328.25 and $89.08 with a meter read date on 1/23/23. In short, Summit is attempting to say that meter read on 1/24/2023 is incorrect so they had to go back in time to re-read the meters on 1/23. If they were going to re-read the meters it should be a future date such as 1/25/23. Summit should be investigated for practices like this, as this is not a first time for something shady like this to happen to me. In December, they closed the **** ******* account even though all bills were paid and there had been no late fees or previous balances on the account. Upon reconnection of the account, they attempted to charge me a $20 installation fee. I am not seeking a monetary refund, rather a look into the business from an entity that has more power than 1 person.Business response

Summit Utilities has charged me incorrectly on my December 2022 and January 2023 gas bills. If possible, I would like help processing a complaint about this company's billing audit process and ensuring this amount is correct to pay. Example 1: I work and hold another residence in ******, *****. Where've spent over %60 of my time in this home versus the one I'm getting billed for. Issues arrived from my lack of being present at the address.Example 2: I have another home located at ***********************************************, with a family 5 in the home with their bill amount showing to be less than the provided at this location, **** ****** St.Initial Complaint

I did not ask to change providers for Gas. I received a letter that Summit was taking over the Centerpoint. I have not done anything different and all my home is electrical except for water heater. Even my fireplace is electric. Even on the coldest days, with Centerpoint, my bill was NEVER as high as Summit has been since they took over. Below is the actual bills where you can see the QUADRUPLE increase.What can I do? Can you look into Summit and find out why they are charging the customers these outrages prices? i've moved out of my previous house on september 12th 2022, and moved to california, prior to moving i have turned off all utilities (including gas), the prior gas company was acquired by Summit utilities and then i started receiving bills once again from them for a service i have already terminated, i never had an agreement with summit utilities to automatically take funds from my account, especially since the service was supposed to have remained disconnected as i no longer live at the address they're billing me for, i've called multiple times and am on hold for more than 2 hours, i've emailed their customer support line and have not heard anything back regarding this complaint. please help me.Business response

When Summit took over, we are not able to gain a bill for the services they are charging us. We cannot set up an account online. It doesnt recognize my account number even though I verified it through the automated system. I have requested paper bills twice and have never received them. They have my correct address, also verified. I cannot get any assistance from a live person other than the online system is down. The customer service and billing is non existent. I have the right to see my bill and have never received a bill from this company.Business response

CENTERPOINT ENERGY WAS THE OLD GAS COMPANY AND SUMMIT UTILITIES IS THE NEW GAS COMPANY. MY GAS BILL WENT FROM $68. TO $242. THIS IS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM IN MY AREA AS I AM HERAING OTHERS SPEAK OF THE MAJOR INCREASE IN THEIR BILL.
