My six year old son was under the care of **************** for 2.5 years, went through rigorous testing and weekly rounds of allergy shots. This clinic shut down for what we now know are probably false pretenses, leaving my child unable to continue his allergy injections- forcing us to start the process over again. Early June 2023, I requested that his medical records and shot serums (that we just paid for weeks prior to shutting doors) be transferred to another clinic but I havent heard back from them at all. Without them, we are unable to continue any treatment without subjecting him to more skin testing, blood work and injections. I need his entire medical record made available.Initial Complaint

In 2022, I was in OIAAI's Norman office to get an allergy injection. I was speaking to one of the staff regarding their sudden closure of the Yukon office and the staff member mentioned it was something due to a cybersecurity incident. Shortly after this, the Norman office was suddenly closed without notice. On 5/5/2023, I went to the Oklahoma City location because I was unable to get anyone to answer the phones and the attached messages were posted on their main door. As of today, all locations are closed without notice, I have no idea what happened to my medical records, if there was an actual cybersecurity incident, or how to receive continuing treatment. I have received no official communication from OIAAI or Amy Darter regarding the alleged cyber security incident or office closures.Initial Complaint

I received allergy testing on January 27th of 2023. When I received the testing, the front desk told me that payment towards my deductible was due at the time of service. The cost was $320.63. I paid at the time of service, went back, and received my testing. I then received a "denial" from my insurance stating that they did not use ICD-11 codes. I called and asked the office to file a corrected claim, and they reported they did. In the meantime, I met my deductible and then some. I then received an EOB stating that my plan covered $240.47 of the allowable amount, and I only owed $80.16. I must have called 15 times over several months and the allergy institute never answered or returned my calls. Finally, I went to the office to see they were closed. They have not recouped me the $240.47 they owe me.Initial Complaint

************************* office, Oklahoma Institute of Allergy and Immunology, has apparently closed down, and they refuse to provide me with my medical records, test results, and allergy shot serum. I paid in full for all of these and will now need them to begin treatment at another practice. If not provided with all of these items, I will have to undergo new skin testing and new serum will have to be made. This would mean that I would have to go several months without an allergy shot. Since one has to go through an extended ramp-up phase of treatment prior to receiving monthly maintenance shots, this would effectively set my treatment plan back years and cost me thousands of dollars. These records, test results and serum belong to me. I need them immediately in order to continue treatment. Phone calls go unanswered and they told me in person that they lost all of the records and would not give me my serum. Please look into this and help me to recover the serum at a minimum. Thank you.Initial Complaint

3-6-23: Was forced to pay $990 for testing out of pocket. Was told insurance doesnt pay because its a 7hr visit/test. Called my insurance, *******, to verify that there were no exclusions/limitations for allergy testing/treatment. ******* confirmed there are no limitations. At next appt informed billing manager that I had contacted my insurance and that they denied any limitations and demanded the claim be sent. Claim was sent and Insurance has paid, and has sent in payments for a few other visits as well (starting 1-31-23); and as of 5-9-23 they have not processed any of these payments. I have also been made to make payments at every visit, despite never being sent a bill or anything on my acct. to indicate I owe any money. Total I have paid around $1395.00 out of pocket, and they have not processed any insurance payments that were sent. Went to our scheduled appt on Monday 5-8-23 with a sign on the door stating the office was closed due to a cybersecurity attack and that the **** of ******* and **** of ******* were investigating and the office would not open until after their investigation is complete. The sign stated that patients would be emailed if their information was compromised and with any updates on re opening/scheduling. Also said there would be a phone number posted on the door later to call to be able to reschedule appts. The Medical Assistant that was working that day informed me all but 4 employees were terminated, and the provider we were seeing was one of them, so there was no one to see my daughter for her appt, nor would they let patients in the building. We had to go to the back door and the medical assistant came outside. No number is available. Have tried to call numerous times since 5-8-23 to get records to switch to new provider, and to find out about issuing me my credit for the $990, but no answer.Initial Complaint

I unfortunately have had a horrible experience with billing at the Oklahoma Institute of Allergy and Asthma in ******. I am requesting the Better Business Bureaus help in getting them to stop harassing me by sending bills for payments I have already made. The Oklahoma Institute of Allergy and Asthma in ****** has required me to make a full payment before any service is provided. However, I keep getting bills for items that I have already paid for. I have attached two emails that I have sent to the manager of the billing department to show them that I have indeed made the payments in person before receiving the service. You can see I submitted proof of payment on August 8thfor two charges via email to the billing department. Yet, I received a November 1 2022 bill that stated I still owe money for the 5/11 charge and an additional 7/22 charge. Proof of payment has been emailed to the practice for both charges on 11/12/2022 after I received the bill in the mail. Please note the 5/11 ****************************************************** for and I sent an email on 8/8 with proof of payment. When I spoke with the manager about the billing error in person on August 2nd 2022, she scoffed at my request for reimbursement and said, "its only a dollar." She fully acknowledged that the payment had been made, yet I received a bill November 12th 2022 claiming I still owed $43.48 for the service. My daughter is also getting allergy shots. I was charged $153.84 for a visit which only cost $55.39. ( I have attached sporting documents for this as well.) Billing made a huge production, demanding I had to pay or my daughter would not be able to be treated. I have not been reimbursed and I fear a similar problem with her future payments. As I have already stated, I want the business to stop harassing me by sending bills for payments I have already made. I also want to warn others of the billing practices at this establishment. I know I am not the only patient that dealt with false charges as I have been approached in the lobby by others who share with me their own frustrations with billing errors when every I have tried to solve a billing dispute in person.Business Response

A container of used sharps was left open and on the floor of our exam room. My 15 month old son attempted to move the lid around and almost stuck his hand into a 50% full container of used sharps that was just sitting on the floor completely open. I had to move the sharps container to the counter top so neither of my kids got poked with a used sharp.Business Response

Allergy clinic scheduled an appointment for me 6 months down the road, I never confirmed this appt therefore did not show up. I received a bill for a no show appt for $125, when I spoke to someone in the office they said the owner will not write this off even though I never confirmed the appt. This is not okay and should be illegal. I would like them to write this charge off as I should not have to pay for an unconfirmed appointment.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because I did not confirm the appointment therefore there was no approved appointment to not show up to. This agreement is for confirmed appointments.
Sincerely,

I called this office originally to get medical services. I called before hand 24 hours in advance and cancelled. I then got a **** in the mail with no services rendered. I called many times and left messages with no one returning my call. After a month I called them and talked to scheduling. When I talked to a person they said they got no messages from me even though I had left 6. My girlfriend called even to make sure this doesnt hit our credit. When I told the women in the billing in department she replied she didnt return the call because she was my girlfriend? What about all the other messages? When pointing this out and saying if they didnt remove the charge for no service and I cancelled with prior notice just like their policy asks, I would file a complaint with the BBB and leave a ****** review about the experience I was called rude and snarky. I just want the $150 to come off I would even pay it to make sure it didnt hit my credit. I dont think I should though its not my fault their billing department and scheduling dont have proper communication.Business Response
