Harvest Hills Veterinary and *** ******************* almost cost my dog his leg. My dog Pancake went in for an *** repair on May 27, 2022.. After spending over $1300, he came out with stitches that looked like a kindergartner did them, a collar that was five times the size of his head and a severe infection within 24 hours. He had to go back so many times for rechecks it became a running joke in the facility. But not to me. Every time I went, the facility was dirty, exam rooms weren't cleaned between patients, staff was rude and other clients were angry about their own pets' care. Each time I lost time and money away from work and the staff made a visible show of being sick and tired of having us be seen. When they said they couldn't see us at a time when my dog's leg started to completely open up to the bone, OSU in ********** got ** in immediately and did a cleanout and restitched his leg, getting the infection out. They saved his leg. They also said the work Harvest Hills did to repair the *** wasn't even standard practice and my dog would have never regained mobility even without the botched job. Harvest Hills also charged me for meds that were supposed to be included in the surgery. I never got a bill but they sent me to a collection agency! Awful, shady business practices. I want to be reimbursed for the botched surgery, the corrective surgery (total $2700) and to have the collections removed immediately.

    Business Response

There is a longer explanation in the attachments.  In short this client is claiming that there was a post-op infection in this dog, there was never any infection, and was even a culture done that was negative proving no infection present.  Also claimed that the procedure that was not was not standard of practice.  This is also false it is the most common procedure done on small breed dogs for this condition and the vet that she claims told her that told me that was not what he said and that the procedure is done frequently at all the referral hospitals including where she went to have this done the second time.  The dogs issues were all a result of her not adequately monitoring or restricting exercise on her dog at home.  The dog continued to lick his incision and instructions were not followed to prevent this.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: as clearly shown in the pictures, the stitches done by the Harvest Hills staff were completely subpar resulting in the opening and reopening of the wound, over and over. While the stitching done by the vets at OSU on the right, done with care and correctly, had far superior results and the wound NEVER reopened. Therefore it wasnt a dog behavior problem but a veterinary care problem. As far as the procedure being standard of care, my dog ONLY regained FULL function of his leg AFTER the procedure at OSU undoing the work Harvest Hills did on it. The office at Harvest Hills was filthy, I had gone into an exam room and expected to place my post op dog on an exam table that still had cat nail clippings on it. Also, as stated before, I never received a bill once following the thousands I already paid this business yet I was sent directly to a collection agent, which further speaks to their unprofessionalism. I expect this to be removed from my credit profile immediately.

    Sincerely,
