I had my name legally changed and was told I was basically SOL until I got all new documents. This is NOT standard in a industry where people use pen names. And they expanded saying that they only recognize "bio *** and deadnames" their words.

They terminated my account because they did not want to be held accountability and for me threatening legal action. See how venomous this email is. More anger and venom than a rattlesnake. They cannot handle criticism or accountability. Judge for yourself. The email i received is below in full After thorough review and consideration, we have made the decision to terminate your account with **********************, effective immediately.Despite our best efforts to address your concerns and work with you in a professional and constructive manner, your continued use of threatening and bullying language. This is not a productive or sustainable working relationship.Your repeated assertions about escalating issues to senior levels of the company are irrelevant. As you have been informed previously, I am senior management at Draft2Digital and hold full autonomy over decisions regarding problematic accounts and clients. This was further reinforced when you reached out to **** and were redirected back to me. Threatening language and attempts to intimidate have no place in our communication or business operations and are in direct conflict with our core ********* of this notice, your account will be closed, and you will no longer be able to use our services. This decision is final and not open for further discussion. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.Regards,**** Director of ***************** **********************

I recently had an extremely frustrating experience with Draft2Digitals customer support that I feel compelled to share. After contacting them with what I believed was a straightforward question about their platform, I became engaged in a back-and-forth exchange spanning more than a half dozen emails. Unfortunately, not only was my question never fully addressed, but the tone of the responses grew increasingly **** and ************* my surprise, rather than working toward a resolution, the representative suggested I delete my account entirelyan unnecessary and unprofessional escalation that left me stunned. When I asked for the issue to be escalated to someone higher up, I was flatly refused. The representative claimed there was no reason for escalation, stating that I had already received all the support I needed and required. This couldnt have been further from the truth, as my original issue remained ************* an author who relies on self-publishing platforms, I expected a much higher standard of professionalism and support. Instead, I felt dismissed and even antagonized by a company that I trusted with my work. A proper escalation or acknowledgment of the poor handling of this situation could have resolved the matter amicably, but instead, the refusal to do so has left me questioning whether D2D truly values its authors.I am sharing this review not only in hopes that someone from D2Ds management sees it and takes appropriate action but also to caution other authors about the level of support they may encounter at D2D. I hope D2D addresses these issues to prevent future authors from having similarly negative and frustrating experiences with their work on this platform.

I will no longer be using Draft2Digital. I have several books published through them and wanted to make my books available to a wider audience, so I used AI to translate my books from English to Spanish. I also used AI to create artwork for this translation and manipulated it in Photoshop to create something unique to my series. The story content is original, written wholly by me, but I cannot afford to hire a translator to translate over 48 books. I am a small-time publisher, which is why I rely on AI to help with translations into other languages so that I can broaden my reach. I also cannot afford to hire an illustrator to do new covers for all the books and my original illustrator has disappeared. I want my books to be available in more marketplaces beyond Amazon. Draft2Digital will not let me publish these translated books even though the story is original and I was allowed to publish the original English version with no problems. If they refuse to let me publish other versions, then I have no use for them. Also, they are terrible at letting you know what books have sold and what have not. In fact, they are very limited in the services they offered and their new paperback publishing service is terrible. There is no way to contact them and their customer service is terrible.

Absolutely garbage company. I have multiple books on multiple platforms. The only platform that I have zero sales on is draft2digital. This useless platform is basically just adding content to their sites but not trying to sell any books. Their book ingestion process also *****. Errors after errors after errors. Finalized products look awful. If this was the only system for self-publishers I would quit this business. Avoid this platform!

We are a small, very simple company, just husband and wife, who have been online for 23 years, writing and selling our own ebooks about dogs.Recently *************** informed us that we had failed to send them identification documents for their "Know Your Customer" program. Therefore they had taken down our book listings. We had never heard of this program, but we went ahead and sent the personal identity documents. Then they said we needed to complete an online interview. Which we did. Then they required something official from the government that showed our LLC was incorporated. Which we sent. Then they said what we sent wasn't good enough and they requested more things. We were struggling to rummage through file folders, make photocopies and screenshots, and attach stuff to emails, all while battling a life-threatening medical crisis. When it seemed like there was no end in site, we finally told them to just send us the $309 they owed us and then close our account. Their response was "We can't send you your money until you send us all the other stuff." So they're keeping the money we earned.

Put in an order for 10 copies of a book Sunday late July 9th, 2023. Their costs for handling were over double KDP. I tried to cancel the order immediately and found there are no options to do so as with KDP. The company did charge my credit card account immediately though. I wrote an email within minutes after the order was placed. I called on July 10th, 2023, when they opened and talked to a CSR at D2D. He said my email will be answered in the order it was received. I said, I just wanted to cancel the order. He reiterated his statement. I received an email shortly after saying the order was already at the printer, it could not be canceled. I called back and talked to the same CSR. I explained to him my experience in the Printing Industry, and nobody can guarantee anything in life, I was 100% sure from my own experience in actual work, and with KDP, there was no way the book was being printed that early in the morning. Sorry, I was told the order could not be canceled. I said I was going to take my title off their site and close my account. I was told I COULD NOT DO THAT UNTIL I GOT THE ****** I said so you are not only refusing to cancel the order but holding MY title hostage until the books showed up. I wrote early Friday, July 15th, I STILL had not received any sort of confirmation via email of my purchase or the progress of the books or when to expect them...until late in the afternoon when I got a CONGRATULATIONS email saying the books were on their way...but no tracking info because the shipper STILL had not gotten them. I have had to sadly, retitle my book to relist it to KDP. D2D, I would not recommend it to anyone. Oh, I did not know (but it's in all their fine print) they do not do books with less than 64 pages, so children's books are out, and they do not do color interiors. My goal is to be refunded the money I spent. The books will go to a thrift store. I do not want to be reminded of D2D in any way shape or form.

Tried them after so many rave reviews by self publishers. I got a proof copy of my book and the cover was terrible. So dark, I couldn't even see the people's faces. So, I didn't approve the proof. Didn't publish (I asked if there was anything else I could do and they told me that they 1 - didn't have any other options / upgrades to make it better; 2 - that they couldn't guarantee print quality since they use contract printers around the country). So, I didn't publish with them. I deleted the book from their system and went about trying to find another POD.***** did a nice job, but their retail prices were high. People recommended ******, so I went to ******. Their process takes a bit to get all the forms filled out. I go to click the "finish setup" button, and I'm told my ISBN is in use, already.MY ISBN that I purchased from ****** directly. That I own. I can't use even though I've not published anything with that ISBN.I went to call support and their phones (Draft2Digital) are shut down.****** wants 30 days to transfer from their left hand to their right hand (Draft2Digital uses ****** for distribution). THIRTY DAYS.This is madness. How can a company hold MY ISBN hostage so I can't publish somewhere else without a 30 days waiting period. Bonkers. Nuts. ISBN's aren't cheap and it seems like this one is just completely lost. I can't wait 30 MORE days. And how is it that neither of these companies understand.... Won't listen. Won't try to help.

Thanks for making us aware of this issue. We only received the notice of **** transfer request yesterday June 6, 2023. We responded yesterday (same day) letting ************** know we've contacted ****** directly with the request to transfer the **** back to them. We've been given one day before they issued a BBB complaint to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, it does take longer than that to get a Vendor of Record cleared on an ****, however, we are responding to the author, complying with their request, communicating with ******, and working to do exactly as they ask to get the **** transferred to her ****** Direct Account.
