      November 4th, 2021. 2pm.My girlfriend and I rented a room at the range motel in tecumseh ********.Right away we were asked to provide a deposit for the room of 50 dollars. The room cost was 55 dollar. Total amount for the room for one night was 105 dollars. The deposit was said to be refunded upon checkout. When entering the room at first glance aside from clearly being very moldy and very dank it didn't look or smell very clean. Not a even a hint of detergent in the air. We only stayed for a short time and proceeded to leave for the day and go out. Upon returning late that night at around 1am - 2am we quickly noticed a infestation of c*** roaches. They were on the bed, walls, bathroom walls, shower, coming in and out of the ac unit on the wall, and even on the furniture. We were absolutely disgusted and appalled. We gathered our things and left to seek different accommodations. The next morning I pulled into the parking lot at 11am on the dot.. Which is check out time. The office was closed so I looked for an employee. I saw a man and asked him if he worked there and I told him I needed to check out. He said yes and asked what room. I told him room 8 and he said let me get the deposit. When he came back out of the office he said there were cigarette butts in the bathroom trashcan. I said and they are mine? the place was disgusting, full of roaches, we didn't even stay, and we would like our deposit back. The man then proceeded over to my vehicle and began harrasssing my girlfriend about the cigarette butts. I told him who cares about the cigarettes, wheres my money and what about the ***** infested rooms. He ignored me, told me the manager was mad about the butts and refused my deposit. I told him I know they scammed me, and are stealing my money. I called later to speak with the manager. I explained I was in room 8 and had complaints. She cut me off, said something about cigarettes, hung up on me and refused to answer afterwards.

      Thank you for your correspondence regarding one of our rooms at the Range Motel. Our records do not indicate that ****** Dollar was a registered guest at our motel. However, a young woman did rent a room at our motel on the afternoon of November 4th and said her boyfriend was staying with her. She paid for the room in the amount of $55 for one night. She was also charged a $50 refundable deposit as are all our guests. She was given our double sided Motet Policy sheet and signed and dated both sides of the policy.

      I also reviewed the policies and told her and pointed out the NO Smoking policy as welt as the check-out policy which is a regular practice I do with each guest who rents from us. I am including a copy of her signed policy for your review. The office where the guest checked in has a NO SMOKING sign as well as on the front of each guest room door there is NO SMOKING signage. Additionally, I am including a copy of our motel regulations which is taped to the inside of each guest room doors. Our motel is a fully nonsmoking in the guest room facility. Smoking chairs and **** cans are outside the guest rooms.

      Upon check out time at 11:00am we knocked on the door and found the room vacated, so our housekeeper began cleaning the room. She noted a smell of cigarette smoke in the room and upon entering the bathroom noted two cigarette butts in the sink and ashes on the floor. She immediately called in the co-owner to inspect the evidence. Since the guests had departed the premise he requested she clean and heavily deodorize the room as best she could. Included with this correspondence is a copy of the signed statement from our housekeeper and co-owner.

      At 11:13 the guest returned and requested we return the deposit. They were told they violated the signed policy which we attempted to show to the young woman who signed it. The guest's boyfriend yelled at the co-owner and told him we shouldn't have entered the room (even though we have a right to do so)- see policy) and he stated that "we only smoked two cigarettes". There was never any mention of a bug infestation nor that they left the motel to stay elsewhere during the night.

      Our rooms have been fumigated by a licensed exterminator two times in the last 60 days at an expense of over $2,000.00 and are bombed and/or sprayed as regular cleaning practice after each guest checks out. We regularly ask our guests if they have had any problems with roaches or bed bugs and to please let us know if there is a problem. Room #8 had been rented 3 times in the week prior to the young lady renting the room and we had nothing but excellent response as to the cleanliness of the room from each guest.

      We also have an on-site manager with an emergency phone listing in the window of the office. Had the guest in room 8 called the number and stated the problem we could have relocated them to another clean room.

      As previously stated, there was no mention of the bug problem they wrote about in the letter to the BBB at that time.

      At 1:00pm I received a phone call from the boyfriend yelling at me about the deposit return even though I told him multiple times the reason we would not refund the deposit was because they clearly violated the signed policy and smoked in the room. I finally hung up after being called multiple names. He continued to call back and harass me so I blocked his number. Subsequently the young lady called from a different number and I told her the same thing. I finally blocked both numbers on the phone as they would not stop calling (19 total calls received). Later I received a call from another number who claimed he stayed in the room but was not her boyfriend. This individual then mentioned the roaches and the new story they wrote to you was concocted. He proceeded to threaten me with a law suit, police action, and a health inspection. Eventually after multiple calls I blocked this unknown person's phone too.

      We have only owned this motel since the beginning of August. It has been our daily goal to clean up the entire facitity and renovate the rooms including the extermination practices we have put into practice at our facility. Prior to our ownership we noted several comments on the web-site regarding ***** and bed bug infestation at the motel. It is our opinion that this is where they decided to concoct the story they wrote about to the BBB.

      We cannot stop disgruntled guests who violate motel policies from leaving negative reviews. Angry people have gone to great lengths to attempt to ruin the reputation of businesses who won't let them get away with damages. We have had close to one hundred guests stay at our motel since our ownership began and only 3 have been removed and lost their deposit due to policy violations.

      MAKING RESERVATIONS

      Reservaons should be made, modified, or cancelled by visiting the front desk or calling **************. More informadon about the Range Motel can be found at www.rangemotel.com.

      CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT

      CHECK-IN - Guests may check-in AFTER 3PM and before IOPM (front desk on stated anivd/check-in date. CHECK-OUT - Guests must check-out BEFORE IIAM on stated departure/check-out date. Failure to properly leave the room by stated dme, will result in a $30 late checkout fee. If guest has not left room on stated departure by IPM, they will then be charged gn day's rate for that room.

      -Pets are allowed to stay with a $50/per pet refundable deposit and                    $20/night room charge.

      -All rooms require a $50 refundable deposit which will be retumed to the restered guest at dme of check out upon room inspection, return of keys and remote for TV. All linens will be checked and counted as part of room inventory.

      REGISTRATION and CHECK-IN

      -At least one registered guest, 18+ with valid, photo D matching the name on the reservation (unless a Ihird-Party Authorization Form has been completed) and intended form-of-payment (cash or credit card), must be present at check-in. Full payments for ill reserved/stated stay charges and, as appropriate, additional deposits, etc. are required at dme of cheek-in without excepdon.

      -All guests and animals must declmed at the d.me of check-in, guest rules and policies are to be reviewed with staff and siY1ed by all guests 18+ in the presence ofmotel staff. Guest vehicles parked on motel property must be registered yhth the front desk.

      PAYMENT OPTIONS

      -Full payment for intended/stated stay (reserved dates) is required at check-in and the of renewal, without exception.

      -CASH CJS Dollars) and a deposit/for incidental charges.

      -NO personal checks are accepted.

      -CREDIT/***!T CARD ****************** Discover, MasterCard, and ***** are only "confirmed" when a valid credit card number is provided during the booking process. The name on the card must match the registered/checkingin guest name or a third-party credit card authorization form must be completed and approved.

      EXTENDING GUEST STAYS

      -Current guests must formally reserve/extend their stay as soon as possible. Room availability, including specific/cunently occupied rooms, cannot be otherwise guaranteed and should not be presumed.

      -The maximum period for a roomis three (3) weeks. The Motel manager, for the health and safety of all guests, will *form exteisive cleaning ofpreviously occupied rooms every 21 days. If a guest requests an additional rental, please contabte Motel manager to inquire about room availability.

      -Other guests with confirmed will supersede assumed extensions. All terms, conditions, and payment requirements apply for all extended stays. Rates and fees are subject to change at each renewal. Checkin and check-out times and fees apply to extending guests unless reservations are formally extended prior to anticipated me. The owners and operators of The Range Motel are extended the right to deny guest extension requests to any guest for any reason.

      Range Motel Regulations

                       Motel Management performs a mandatory basic cleaning in each room daily. Extended stay guest rooms are given a complete cleaning each week. A guest may extend their stay for up to 3 weeks.

                       When leaving the room, please turn off heat and/or air unit and lights to conserve energy and prevent room rate price increase.

      Please remember that ALL rooms are non-smoking. If you are a smoker, you may smoke outside your room. If a guest smokes in a room this constitutes grounds for immediate dismissal and forfeiture of room and $50 deposit.

                       To maintain the cleanliness of the Motel grounds and parking lot, please dispose of trash by placing it in the trash cans. Cigarette butts must be placed in the provided receptacle outside the room.

                       Guests are responsible for keeping the microwave/refrigerator clean. These appliances will be checked weekly for cleanliness.

                       All guests must wear shirts and shoes outside the room.

      Please be respectful to fellow guests. (No disturbances of any type to include with loud noise, TV, music, disorderly conduct or large groups, etc.)

      I am rejecting this response because:  because these people are liars and are breaking the law.  We were not made aware of an infestation.. And in no way would we ever sleep with roaches next to us.  These people claim they smelled smoke at 11:00am.  I have mine and my girlfriends ****** location history saved to prove we only stayed for a couple of hours max.  So let her go on and on about how they smelled smoke 9 hours later.. And aren't just thieves.  We are seeking a lawyer and we are suing. We can prove our statements true and in addition I have contacted the ************** of health.  I'm sure glad we uploaded a recording of just how low these people are and you can clearly hear her say, "the roaches weren't mentioned until after we wanted our deposit back"    who cares when the roaches are mentioned?!?! They are still renting rooms with nasty filthy disease carrying parasites.. We saw a young boy staying with his parents thay same day and I felt sick to my stomach and appalled they would rent such disgusting roomso.  They live in the same motel they rent, why is the office closed all day and night?  Think about how they must be living to rent a room like that.  Since the office was closed all night and the woman wasn't even there at 11am the next day.  We couldn't complain until we returned.. To find man in our room..  I would love to upload both of our location history for the day and shut this crack head up for good but maybe I'll just wait for court.  Good luck convincing the judge.
