    My husband was referred there by his ***. After the initial appointment in which the doctor said he wanted to do surgery, there was a follow-up scheduled for an ultrasound. We got the outcome of the ultrasound and was told nothing else after that. My husband was under the assumption that he was waiting for his surgery to be scheduled. After 2 weeks and having heard nothing he called them to see what was the hold up. He was told that they had sent authorization to insurance and was waiting. Upon calling our insurance company, we were told they never received anything. A call back to Urologic Specialist to confirm it having been sent and we were told they resent it. So we started the waiting process again. A week later he still had heard nothing. So our *** called them and was told there was nothing in his file about another follow-up. So the *** told my husband to call them back and then Urologic told him that there was nothing in his file about a surgery because he needed a CT scan and the insurance hasn't approved it yet. There has been no communication the whole time from them letting my husband know the next step in his care with them. And no communication between them and our insurance company to see why authorization hasn't happened. And terrible miscommunication from them to the *** that referred my husband. Terrible miscommunication from them to my husband when he's called to check on updates.

    Thank you for the review and the opportunity to better serve.Urologic Specialists Administration has conducted a review of the consumer's interaction and can report the issue has been resolved and patient has been contacted as of 10:30am on 7/18/2024. Issue stemmed from Urologic Specialists office attempting to obtain an authorization from the consumer's Insurance Carrier (BCBS). BCBS did not notify Urologic Specialists this consumer's coverage required a 3rd party authorization. Urologic Specialists attempted to contact BCBS numerous times in the 3 weeks leading up to 7/17 without any response. Once BCBS responded, Urologic Specialists authorizations department reached out to 3rd party authorizations department to obtain necessary authorization and Urologic Specialists confirmed next steps with patient on 7/18.Urologic Specialists will use this learning experience to educate staff and change procedures in order for better communication between Urologic Specialists and patients when issues arise out of the control of Urologic Specialists specifically with consumer's insurance coverage issues.07/18/2024 - 10:45am
