We were referred to on ***-N-Sons Tree Service by ***************** with ****** Handyman on 2/23/22 to trim a couple trees on a property.********************* arrived on 2/28/22 and gave my wife and I a verbal quote of $700.We were not needed to be present for the work to be done; however my wife and I arrives at the property at 07:50AM on the day (Wednesday - trash pickup day) that the work was being performed. When we arrived one tree had already been trimmed and he had started on the second. For that amount to be done when we arrived, he would have had to start work no later that 07:30AM. I was very concerned that he would be using a very very loud chipper to shred the limbs as they were cut. I felt that we owed every one of our new neighbors an apology for allowing that work to continue before 10AM.A couple days ago my wife received a phone call from ********************* asking where our check was. She told him that we had not yet received his invoice. We then contacted ***************** with ****** Handyman asking him why we were hearing from *** as we thought we had contracted the tree service through ****** Handyman. **** said he would give Dam ******* my email address to send us the invoice.I just received that invoice and ****************** is upping his quote of $700 to $800 (see attachment) I must protest a contractor from quoting $700 and then charging $800 after the work is done.I must also protect a contractor bringing a very noisy piece of equipment like a tree chipper and use it in a high density neighborhood at 07:30AM w/o a permit.

      Dear BBB,

I write in reference to the complaint ******** you received from Mr. ***************************** regarding the work performed at his residence on 02.28.22.  One of ********************** complaints relates to the timing of my arrival and the work done at his residence.

INVOICING:  First, I rarely subcontract work, and ************ is not someone for whom I perform subcontracting work.  He does refer me business, and I do the same for him. If ******************** had a different understanding of who would be invoicing him, I can only surmise it was an incorrect assumption on his part.

TIMING: Although I cannot recall specifically telling ******************** when I would be arriving to complete the job, my standard practice, when quoting jobs, includes informing the potential client of when I will be arriving at their property for the work I will be performing.  It is common in my business, or other landscaping businesses, to have multiple jobs lined ** in a day.  7:30 a.m. is a typical start time, and I did not show up to ********************** residence any earlier than is customary.  If he had concerns about noise for his neighbors, he should have voiced that to me when we were discussing the job so I could have adjusted my schedule accordingly or informed him I would be unable to perform the work.  To the best of my knowledge, it is not required to have any noise permit for work beginning at 7:00 or later.

INVOICE AMOUNT:  I will happily send ******************** an updated invoice to reflect the amount I quoted him on 02.23.22.  It was a typo on the invoice that I inadvertently missed, and I would have happily made the correction if ******************** had reached out to me directly.

If you need any further information or details from me regarding this complaint, please do not hesitate to contact me.

      Sincerely,

      *** Maclean

I am rejecting this response because: My $800 check has already been deposited and cleared my bank, which now means I am waiting on a $100 refund.  I will reconsider AFTER I receive a $100 refund and that check clears.

      Sincerely,

      *****************************
