On March 20, 2018, BBB received a complaint from a consumer alleging they were contacted by International Acquisition Strategies with an offer to purchase their timeshare.  They told the consumer they had guaranteed buyers and big corporations were interested in buying up blocks of timeshares at high resale prices which would be tax write offs for them.  The consumer received a contract from the company and was told Welman Closing Group of Portland, Oregon would be handling the closing of the sale.  The consumer was then directed to wire payment to a bank in Mexico allegedly used by his timeshare to pay for a “timeshare transfer fee.”  Once the consumer transferred the money, he never heard from them again.

BBB found Welman Closing Group is not registered as a business in the state of Oregon.  Furthermore, the company is not licensed in the State of Oregon to conduct title or escrow transactions nationally or internationally.  The address advertised is not recognized by the United States Postal Service.  The website has several typographical errors, including the company’s own name.  The website was created on December 15, 2017 and recently updated on February 14, 2018.  The domain name ownership is privacy protected.  BBB attempted to call the business at both phone numbers advertised on the company’s website for more information but was unable to leave a message as their mailbox was full.
