      I contacted Dumpster City on 3/12/24 to inquire about their dumpster services. When I spoke with the lady on the phone, I clearly told her that I was just seeking information and unsure if I wanted to commit to reserving a dumpster at that time. She assured me that I could cancel at any time as long as it was at least 24 hours' notice for a full refund. She told me that it was best to make a reservation while talking to someone rather than reserving online because I would only get the dumpster for 4 days if I booked online but she could reserve it for a week by doing it over the phone. I scheduled a dumpster for 3/29-4/5 which she charged ****** to my credit card. That amount was more than what we had just discussed so I asked her why it was so high. She told me that they charge the full amount upfront, not just a deposit, but that some of the $949 would be returned to me as long as the weight didn't go over, which she indicated that typically most loads stay under the allotted weight. On 3/20/24, I contacted Dumpster City again to let them know that we would not be needing their services. The man I spoke to on the phone assured me that the service would be cancelled, indicating that I would receive a full refund. My credit card was only credited $894. I followed up that same day and the following days with phone calls and emails inquiring as to why I didn't receive the remaining $55 of my refund. None of my calls or emails were returned or any explanation as to why they decided to keep $55 when there had not been any previous discussion about anything other than a full refund. If there was a reservation fee or processing fee, that was never mentioned. I would not have made the reservation if I had known that, and I was clear with the lady that I was not 100% committed but she assured me that I would get a full refund if I decided to cancel.

      Thank you for the review. Im sorry about your experience with Dumpster City **** , that did not meet your expectations. We work hard to provide excellent customer service (I think our reviews indicate that determination.) During this season we are exceptionally busy, and often reserve dumpsters with an anticipated delivery date. Seldom is it necessary to cancel an order, and we did not cancel your order. You are the one that canceled the order. You placed the order online. We have stated our cancellation fees in 5 places on our web site. Please refer to the Product page see the:

       Cancellation Fees
      Any cancellation of a rental dumpster whether booked online or over the phone will result in a $55 cancellation fee. The said fee is deducted from the customers refund.

      The day you called to cancel the order I refunded your money that day . Then you called back not happy about $55 cancellation fee. I Absolutely never said I was going to refund 100% of the funds. I feel I done all I can to make this fair.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      Rewriting the narrative about what actually happened by saying that I made the order online is not an acceptable resolution. If this business had actually reviewed my complaint or their own records, it is clear that I made the order by telephone and spoke with one of their employees on 3/12/24, not online. I called to ask some questions about the services, and the female employee who took my call told me there was no charge to cancel a reservation. She did not advise me to go online and read the information provided there, so I wouldn't have read the online information since I didn't make the reservation online. Now the business is falsifying the circumstances and manipulating the process as it happened to cover up what appears to be an employee error. I am not disputing the fact that I canceled the order, that was not in question. I called as well as emailed to cancel the order on 3/20/24, over a week before the service date of 3/29/24. Also, I'm not sure why my question about why I didn't receive a full refund couldn't have been answered when I called and emailed to inquire. It sure seems like that would have been a simple solution, rather than no response which is what prompted me to call the BBB to get some kind of answer.
