My milk kit was delivered to Ni-q on 9/24/2024. They confirmed receipt of the kit and promised compensation. It has been over 6 months and I never received any compensation. As if 3/25/2025 Ni-q has now deleted my account with them and I am now unable to login to my portal in their website. This company is a scam.Initial Complaint

I sent my frozen breast milk to Ni-q and it arrived in October ************************* December 2024. Ive still not recieved a payment at the end of March and they are saying they are extremely backed up without any timeframe for resolution. Breast milk was pumped prior to October. Im worried they wont even accept my milk at this point due to their fault for not testing it when it arrived. They need to payout the mothers donating within the timeframe they had given us (10 weeks).Initial Complaint

I have been a reliable milk donor for this company for years. I started again after my latest birth, not only did it take over 6 months to get the one box I had been able to send this round, but they claim it tested positive for TCH. I have NEVER taken any Drugs or used any CBD products ever. There would be zero chance of my milk containing THC. When contacting the manager about this lab error or possible mix up of my milk, I was told that there was no mix up. I have offered to take whatever drug test is needed (blood or hair) to show proof that I have never had TCH in my system, much less any other drugs, they denied my request, failed my box and dismissed me as a donor. Absolutely scam of a business. Dont ever donate to them! Never showed any proof of the lab results and just pocketed my milk. Terrible company.Initial Complaint

Donated break milk in August of 2024,the company received said breast milk on August 6, 2024. The milk was not tested and approved until January 11, 2025. I inquired with the company on when I would get payment ($412) and or any notification via email. I was told notifications were sent, they were not. I was also told ** get payment in March. I have received a direct deposit of $0 into my checking account. I have inquired,as they are required to provide payment within 60 days of an accepted milk testing. I am growing frustrated with all the excuses and would like what is owed to me.Initial Complaint

I sent my milk kit in back in December 2023. Online it says they received it on December 20. They sent an email saying they received it on January 8. So there was confusion there and I reached out because I didnt want them to tell me my milk was bad when they went to test it if they allowed it to sit out that long after they received it. Months went by and I kept waiting for my results. They said my milk failed testing which is suspicious since *** donated multiple times to another company and passed every single time. I am religious with cleaning my pump parts, cleaning my b****** and *******, and storing my milk in proper conditions. They stole my milk and didnt pay me for it. They also said I sent in 360 oz when I know I sent in around 475 oz. They are corrupt and I hope the government and the better business bureau looks into this scam of a company stealing peoples milk. As I see from the complaints, Im not the only person this happened to. They provide no explanation as to what exactly failed their testing. So, anyone looking to donate to this company- BEWARE! You should probably look for another company who is reputable and doesnt scam their donors.Initial Complaint

I have donated 6 milk kits to this company. When I signed up, I read complaints about the amount of time it takes to receive payment and I accepted that it would take the maximum amount of time to receive payment, however I wasnt aware of the fact that they would cheat me out of the amount of milk I sent. The first four boxes were sent in before I was even told if I had passed testing, so by the time I sent my fifth in, it said it had passed for 565 ounces. I know very well that I sent in over 720 ounces because I measure it precisely and count the bags when I pack it. This discouraged me, so on my next two boxes I sent in, I wrote on the box how much was in the box so I was aware of if I was cheated out of an extreme amount of milk again. Then after doing so, they failed my next two boxes! I sanitized and pack them just like the other four! They say it failed microbial testing and dont give any further explanation than that, but I assume its in retaliation for me not wanting to be cheated out of my hard worked milk! Over ***** ounces of milk was failed with little to no explanation after 4 passing milk kits where I was always cheated out of compensation! I want an explanation! If this is going to happen, then I at least know to donate my milk elsewhere because I already have enough milk to send in another kit, but Im not going to now!Initial Complaint

Was told that only some milk in my kit was tested but yet the entire box of over 500 ounces failed . Was not told why the milk couldnt be sent back to me even if I paid for the shipping . Have not been shown test results even though I have asked several times . I have no proof of if the milk was actually disposed of or if they collected profit from it. I asked for proof of that as well have not heard anything . I have been waiting on a check they claim was sent 11/7 have not received it this milk was sent months ago and tested . They say the next payments go out around December 5th what do you mean you dont know ? What will be different if you have to resend it why cant you send it to my bank account that you required for me to do a direct deposit form for? That milk could have went to my son if it was going to be stolen from me and I was going to be told to read this and that like its not their job to just tell me . I will be filing a report with the police if I do not receive some answers because my breast milk was stolen from me I did not donate it for free . They have stopped responding to my messages nobody has called me back because of **** who has been emailing me claiming she understands when she doesnt she didnt give breast milk and experience what I Am. I have donated with another company before I never had these issues with them of unprofessionalism, it doesnt even make sense how the milk I sent later was denied first or failed first but failed at a later time in the day. Something is mot adding up. I used the same sterilizing with both boxes. How is it retested how many times is it retested with better equipment or at a different lab or with different staffBusiness Response

According to Ni-Q's policy, and the donor consent (signed June 22, 2023), Ni-Q will compensate donors for all milk kits that pass the testing and screening process. This above mentioned milk kit did not meet the bacterial thresholds required for a milk to be accepted and deemed medically safe. A notification of this information was sent on September 14, 2023. All questions received via email were answered, as well as a testing report indicating the failure, including, but not limited to emails and messages sent on December 5th, November 29th, 28th, 22nd, and 17th. Payment was issued for an additional accepted milk kit on November 7th. When the donor stated she did not receive the payment, the payment was re-issued on December 5th, and subsequently shows as "deposited" into the donor's account. Ni-Q greatly appreciates our donors, and take all efforts to respond to all questions in a timely manner, and Ni-Q has never denied compensation for a milk kit that has met all the testing requirements.Initial Complaint

As a donor of human breast milk, I registered to become a donor to the lab with the ability to be compensated for the milk provided. Under the terms of the agreement, I am to be paid/compensated for the milk within 60 days of receipt of the milk. On February 16, 2023, the lab received my most recent shipment of over 650 ounces of human breast milk. It is now June 12, 2023, a total of 16 weeks have passed, which is 120 days, and I have yet to be paid for the milk. I have contacted ************* and their response is that the milk hasn't been tested. I am to be paid for the product they received, however long it takes them to process the milk is their problem and I am to be compensated for the product within 60 days of receipt of the milk. This isn't the first time this has occurred. On a previous occasion, they provided me with the same excuse and delayed my payment by a total of four months. Ni-Q LLC as a business providing products to their customers expect to be compensated for their product, I too as a human breast milk donor expect to be compensated for the product I provided the lab.Business Response

Ni-Q's policy for payment of donors clearly states that payment will be made within 60 days of satisfactory testing - not within 60 days of receipt. Ni-Q only pays for milk that meets certain testing guidelines, therefore, a policy to pay within a certain time of receipt would be nonsensical.
Further, on February 6th, 2023, ************ was notified via email that Ni-Q was experiencing significant delays in testing of donated milk which would also delay payment. After receiving this notice, she ordered a milk kit and returned it with her donation on February 16, 2023.
Ni-Q is currently testing kits received during February 2023, so assuming **************** donation tests satisfactorily she should receive payment shortly.

Response to business:
Human milk donors donate their excess milk for altruistic reasons. We understand the lab is not our employer and the amount of money we are compensated for our "time" is worthless for what the milk is worth. Human milk cannot be found in a cave or sourced as a natural resource. Human milk and its benefits to babies are vital for their survival. While sure, scientists have created other alternatives to human milk, it doesn't compare, not even in its molecular form. Understanding that without mothers like myself, your company, NI-Q Labs, would not be in business. Your claim of inability to provide payment for "supply chain issues" would be valid if you weren't able to source the box or styrofoam container the milk is shipped in. The price of food overall is too high in order for me to adequately consume enough calories in order to provide 1oz of human milk. One dollar an ounce doesn't offset the cost of my caloric intake that I as a mother have to consume in order to produce human milk. **** labs cannot manufacture human milk nor can they produce it. **** labs are in business because donors like myself are willing to provide/ donate our excess supply to benefit premature babies. The terms of the exchange of "goods" was $1.00/oz and payment would be provided within 60 days of receipt of the human milk. I did not agree that NI-Q Labs withhold the product(aka the milk) for an undetermined period. This is merely a business transaction and in *****************, the exchange of goods and services is the US Dollar. I provided the product and now NI-Q Labs has withheld payment for the product they received which they will turn into a profit 4x-5x if not more. It is shameful that NI-Q Labs claims to have integrity. Instead is taking advantage of mothers such as myself, and is not providing payment within 60 days of receipt of the human milk. At the time of this writing, it has now been four months since NI-Q labs received the human milk I donated for altruistic reasons and I have yet to receive payment on the agreed-upon terms. Due to the lack of clarity and transparency from **** Labs prior to becoming a donor, I will cease donating to NI-Q Labs in the future. Since this will be made public, I highly suggest to any mothers contemplating donating to this lab or any lab to not. These companies take advantage of mothers like myself and do not pay and withhold milk. It would be in the best interest of NI-Q to provide payment so this matter could be resolved promptly.

I sent my breast milk into this company after being approved as a donor and my lab work being complete. They received my donation on 9/29 after being shipped ***** Express. When I first became a donor, I was told the testing process would begin 4-6 weeks after receiving the donation. It had reached the 6 week **** and I messaged the company in which they told me they were having supply chain issues and to be patient. I messaged again after 7 weeks since receiving and was now told that theyre receiving high volume quantities from other donors and having supply chain issues and told to be patient. After almost 8 weeks since receiving, I was told they dont know how many supplies theyll receive which is why testing can be delayed and have limited outbound milk kits to focus their testing on what they already have received. Now its coming up on 9 weeks since receiving and still no update on testing. Im very frustrated and will not be patient anymore. I sent 432 oz of breast milk, and will never be sending anymore. Payment for the donation takes 60 days AFTER being tested/accepted and its still unknown if it even passed. Ni-Q has made me feel like my time put into this has been wasted, and I feel like Im being withheld potential compensation. Their employees have given conflicting information and no one seems to know whats going on.Business Response

Unfortunately, Ni-Q has indeed been experiencing supply chain issues that have dramatically slowed down our ability to test milk kits. We are currently working through kits received in the same time frame as when ****************** submission arrived. There are hundreds of kits in this group and we are moving through them as fast as we reasonably can. To the extent possible, we are attempting to expedite the testing of ****************** kit. We sincerely apologize for this unusual delay, but are making every effort to make it right.
