My truck was serviced by Colussy last summer. I was told my cooling rods were leaking. That is was fixed. 2 weeks later I drove to NC and my dash board lit up saying I was low on oil. I checked it and I was 4 qts low. I added the oil and returned to colussy immediately. They did an oil consumption test and said it wasn’t leaking oil and Chris said the mechanic who fixed the cooling rods was young and didn’t put enough oil in the engine when done. My truck was under warranty at the time. Ever since then, I have been burning oil out my exhaust and Colussy refuses to take accountability and is in so many words calling me a liar. They told me I can replace the rings for 6500 if I wanted but again this issue didn’t start until they serviced my truck. I spoke to the owner and he told me that he doesn’t agree with my version of the story and thus he won’t do anything for me. This is completely unacceptable. I have had my truck serviced with them since I bought it. They have lied on multiple occasions.

We do not agree with *** ******* assessment of the situation and have discussed
    this with him several times.
We did the initial repair on his truck in July of 2022 at approximately 97000 miles. We replaced
the leaking engine oil cooler lines. He had stated he had to add 5 quarts of oil before he brought
it in to us to be worked on.
After that repair is when he told us that 3 weeks later he took a trip to North Carolina and
had to add 4 quarts of oil when he got there, we are not denying what he said happened, but
firmly believe that we did not do anything that caused this. When he returned back home we
checked the vehicle over and found no leaks. We also did the oil consumption test protocol and
checked his oil levels every 1000 miles - we found there was no loss of oil at that time.
On Monday 9/25/23 we performed GM recommended Diagnostic Scans - and found no trouble
codes or indication of anything that would cause excessive oil burning in the engine at that time.
What we have told ** ***** is that we believe that he needs to change his oil more frequently
due to the fact that his truck has over 130,000 miles - And that as an engine wears over time
and mileage that more frequent oil changes are necessary.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I have had my trucked serviced according to the owners manual and according to the direction of the vehicle since it was purchased. No where in the owners manual does it say to change your oil sooner when you reach a certain amount of miles. There is a oil quality indicator on the truck that tells me when the quality of my oil is low. That indicates when the oil needs to be changed. If what the dealer is saying is true, why does the manufacturer indicate something different?

The service technician Chris specifically told me that the mechanic was young and that he did not put enough oil in my truck when he changed my cooling rods. He said that was the only reason I could have received the notification on my dashboard after they had just fixed the leak and based on the oil consumption test. I asked him if it would have any negative effect on my truck and he said no. However, since that time I have been burning oil and it is increasingly getting worse. The dealership claims that the service tech Chris is denying that he told me that which is a lie.

Again, my truck has been serviced at this dealer since it was purchased. All of my service records are available. There were never any complaints of burning oil prior to this service on my truck. I am not trying to get something that I do not deserve. When you pay $60,000 for a vehicle you shouldn't have to stop every so many miles and put oil in the engine when it has been serviced as instructed by the manufacturer. On top of that, if it were the case that you have to change your oil sooner when your vehicle reaches so many miles, why is the dealer still putting a sticker on my windshield that reflects normal oil changes?

It is just one excuse after another.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]

    Regards,

As we stated previously we do not agree with *** ******* assessment of this situation. We do not believe that our technician who worked on his truck left any oil out of it, and to his claim that it was a young technician who worked on it does not make sense since the technician who did the work was one of our more experienced technicians. We do not believe that there is anything we did to negatively affect his truck. We feel there is nothing further we can do to resolve this matter.

Saying you do not agree with a situation does not exonerate you of guilt. Me saying a younger technician worked on my vehicle is only being stated based on what the service technician (Chris) said to me when he said that specific mechanic did not put enough oil back in my truck when he fixed my rods. You saying you disagree also does not explain why you are instructing me to operate my vehicle differently than what the owners manual says as well as what you yourself say with the sticker you place on my windshield with each oil change. Your sticker says 5k miles between oil changes and so does the dashboard based on quality of oil life. Yet you tell me to change it every 3000 miles. Show me in the owners manual where it says to do that?

I am happy to walk away from this and you will never have to see me or my truck again. It will cost me $8500.00 to put a new engine in my truck. Since we cannot "agree" on whose fault it is that my truck is not operating as it should, I am requesting that you cover 50% of the cost. I believe that is a fair resolution to this matter and allows both of us to share in rectifying the situation.
