As of June this year of 2023 I have fallen on hard times. I have kept my creditors up to date and with this bank, PFCU, I called them told them to hold my payment as I am waiting on a Property Tax Rebate which for, 8 years came on July 1st. Not this time. It is still late as of today, July 16, 2023. On July 14 they took a remaining balance of what I had in the amount of $7.88. Then on Sat. July 15, a friend ****** me $40.00 for food and the bank took that as well without my authorization after they had agreed to wait when I originally called them to advice them of my payment being late. I am devastated and furious as these funds were for food and I have nothing until the 3rd of August with my Social Security. Being a weekend I could not get anyone on the phone but left a message on their customer service number, ************. I told them I have every intention of paying my bill and this is the most cruel thing these banks get away with. I want the total of $47.88 refunded to my checking account immediately.Business Response

Good morning, Recently I had a garnishment placed on my checking account from a debt collector. Patriot Federal Credit Union charged $125 for the garnishment process, however anytime I called to get information about the garnishment I was always told that department isn't available, and someone will call me back. When I get calls back the information given doesn't answer my questions because it's always someone from the call center. I'm got charged $125 and received no service or any explanation of the garnishment process. I feel I deserve a full refund of the $125 for lack of service/ no communication, or at least half.Business Response

Thank you for contacting us regarding **. ***** concerns. Although we cannot discuss confidential member information on a public forum, our procedure for Garnishments notifies the member of the garnishment amount, garnishment fee, and the legal representation to contact for questions concerning the garnishment.
A garnishment fee is not for services a member is to receive but a fee for the administration of the garnishment notice received by court order to Patriot FCU.
We acknowledge **. ***** concerns and will reach out directly to him and provide copies of the letter he was mailed for the garnishment that includes the amount of the fee and our fee schedule. As a courtesy, we are refunding the garnishment fee to ************.Customer Answer

For the second time, Patriot FCU is running an insurance scam with my loan. In November of this year, I found out my insurance provider for my motorcycle (Progressive, the motorcycle financed through Patriot FCU) had cancelled my insurance without giving me a notice. It was cancelled because the policy time, 1 year, was over. I thought it auto renewed, but apparently not. The moment I found out I contacted ***** and got insurance that day. My insurance for the record is roughly 50 dollars a month, I have zero motorcycle accidents for the last 20+ years, and have taken multiple motorcycle safety courses. The bike has been in my garage for the last 3 months as I was traveling during that time, and was covered by my homeowners insurance while in the garage. Patriot calls me about the gap in insurance on 20 December. They say because there was a gap in coverage, they were going to put coverage on it during that time at a cost of, GET THIS, 400+ dollars! For insurance during a period where I had no claims, no accidents, no nothing. This isnt insurance, its a penalty and a scam they are running. As a military veteran, and someone who HATES scams of all kinds, this is an absolutely ridiculous.Business Response

Thank you for contacting us regarding *************** concerns. Although we cannot discuss confidential member information on a public forum, our policy for any collateral held is to require adequate insurance in the case of a loss.
We have reviewed this situation thoroughly, this is not a scam and Patriot does not set the premiums. We have determined that all contract terms were agreed to by ****************,all procedures and required notifications were followed in **************** dealing with the credit union. We have no contractual agreement to monitor an individuals desire or understanding of auto renewal policy obligations.
We acknowledge **************** concerns and will reach out to him directly to provide him with supporting documentation including his contract, call logs and letters. As this is the second complaint regarding the same issue, we are satisfied that he understands his obligations in addition to what and why certain actions transpired. He was given a full refund in 2020 when the first complaint was filed at a loss to the credit union.
We appreciate the opportunity to clarify this matter.Customer Answer

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because: I have the exact same issue I had last time. I would see if they would say "ok, you are a 48 year old married man with no accidents so it will be congruent with that rate", but no. My insurance premium with ***** is 288.50 for SIX MONTHS of insurance, a rate I paid at once. They want to charge me, GET THIS, 400+ dollars for 2 months! That my friends is a scam, pure and simple. If they were lending money at that rate they would be sitting in front of congress.Patriot is a misnomer. I am a combat veteran with 21 years of service. I pay my bills, I pay my taxes, and I live quietly. But I will not stand by and allow this company to pull this without fighting every step of the way. If you are reading this, stay away from these people. Win or lose, I will not let them just get away with this.
